Over the years I must have played hundreds of games, but this one really stands out.I bought it a couple of years ago now and me and my friends still play it online two or three times a week. It's just fantastic. I own Quake 3 Arena ( Unreal's main rival )too but hardly ever play it.Quake 3 is a very good game, but UT blows it out of the water ! The only criticisms I have are that the game seems to crash when your playing online sometimes ( it's not just on my machine, it happens on my friends too ), also to get the best out of the game you really need a high speed internet connection.I have now and it's great, but I remember playing the game when I only had a 56k modem and it really affects the gameplay a lot ( if you're using a slow connection you're at a huge disadvantage when playing people on high speed connections ) , this is not really a fault of the game, more a fault of the net.

The best!

This game has been on my hard drive for over 2 years, and not a week goes by that I don't play it. It's amazing!

The graphics are quite good, although new games and video cards are pumping out prettier eye candy. That's not where this game shines, though.

The meat of UT is in the gameplay. The bot (non player) AI is amazing, even after all this time. This is perhaps the only shooter where the single player mode is serious fun and isn't an afterthought. I sometimes even prefer playing against the computer than a human opponent. The varied modes: capture the flag, assault, etc, are very well done, and really immerse you in the action. The levels are well designed and intuitive.

The beauty of this game is that with TONS of free maps available online, you can customize it and keep this game fresh forever. There are even a couple of mods that aren't half bad.

This is the best purchase I've ever made.

Extremely fun, must get for any gamer.

I've had this for about 3 months now and its probably about the 3rd best game i've ever seen. So far i've played atleast 200 hours and i still play atleast one game every night. Its first pro comes to the graphics. For u ppl out there with 300 mhz comps with no accelerator can still play. It may not look as pretty as it does on my dad 1000mhz with geforce card, but URT allows u to set the resalution anywhere to a normal 300x200 to a awesome 1600x800 direct 3d. It also has numerous other graphic settings so if u would rather see the backround more detailed then your gun you can, if u dont like a red cross for aiming you can change it, and you can also change speed, gore, and a bunch of other stuff. The next thing you can do is custimize the bots to your liking. If you want to lower there aim, straifing, camping, allertness, and there favorite weapon (my favorite is to set one bot on chainsaw and the others at sniper rifle and watching this pore guy get killed about 50 times.) You can also change how he looks and you can give him jumpy behavior (he jumps around the level like a moron.) Another feature is the tournament mode. You progress against different sets of bots working through the 4 game modes. About the game modes there is deathmatch, which is first to kill so many guys, then there is capture the flag which is... well capture the flag, in domination you and your team try to control as many points in the map as you can, and finally there is my favorite, assault where you have a set of objectives. One team defends while the other trys to complete the objectives in a given time limit. There is also last man standing which you have a certain number of lives and you try to be last eliminated, but this isnt really played much, and isnt in the tournament. Above all this there is a awesome stat tracking thing which has every game logged in and works like a web page with charts tables and other stuff. And last of all there is the internet mode. It may not be as good as battle.net for starcraft but it looked pretty good to me. My only complaint was how the games where based on an individual computers rather then a huge server, which means some 28k modem guy can decide to start a 16 player game and give cable players grief. Other then that if you can get a game with good lag internet play rocks. Overall get this game, and i gaurnetee you will have tons of fun.

This review will be short and sweet. If you want to learn about the in depth aspects of this game there are plently of truthful, well written reviews on this same page. The bottom line for this game, BUY IT! I bought this game over 6 months ago and I still play it EVERYDAY. Multiplayer is OUTSTANDING (try to find a good Capture the Flag Server), Single player is Extremely Fun with Great Maps, and as Far as Gameplay for your money goes U can't go wrong for $30.00 for this game.. But it now, or you'll regret it later.

I bought this game around christmas time 1999 and i havent played it much now days. But anyway This game is great its WAY better than that quake stuff.Beileve me its better you dont even need a 3d card for it!I dont have a 3d card and i played it!But quake 3 requires a 3d card.Ha this game is better all quake 3 is for is online gaming. What if you dont want to play it online? With unreal tournament you can play online and offline.Beileve me this game will be fun for about 5 months.I havent played it sence april 2000 because i cant get the best gameplay without a 3d card you can still play it without one i have ive won deathmatches without a 3d card but,I wont look very good.Im getting a ATI XPERT 128 from buy.com thats 128 bit if you want the best gameplay go for a 128 bit graphics card and get it online because stores sell it for SKY HIGH prices.

Even if this game is a few years old, it still keeps up with latest games. For those who'll complain that there is no story, no new things, and that it's still the same as Quake and the others of their kinds, YOU ARE TERRIBLY WRONG. I played a lot of excellent games, but only two kept me addicted : UnrealTournament and CounterStrike. They both high adrenaline and fast gameplay. I played Diablo I & II & LoD, StarCraft & BroodWar, wich are amongst the best games ever, incredible storyboards, with incredible videos, but over time, I lacked interest, but I keep playing UnrealTournament quite a few hours each week un it's still as exciting and it gets better and better as my skills develops. If you have this game or will buy it soon, HAPPY FRAGGING!

Unreal Tournament blows the competition out of the water in terms of ease of use and multiplay. It has dozens upon dozens of configurable options that can suit anyone from a real newbie who has never touched a computer in his/her life to a hardcore gamer with years of experience like me. The graphics are as good or better than Quake 3, even though there are no curved surfaces. The requirements for running this game aren't too steep. It runs fine on my old Pentium Pro 200/128 MB ram/voodoo2, and is absolutely incredible on my 1GHz athlon thunderbird/256 MB ram/voodoo 3. There are no hints of slowdown on any of the included maps. Which brings me to the point of how varied and unique the levels are. There are dozens of levels in the game and thousands of quality works available in the extensive UT community. There are several completely different styles of play, for those who are a little bored with the ole deathmatch thing. The single player campaign isn't too cohesive, but it offers the newbie good training for multiplay. The game connects to a server that lists thousands of servers on which you can play. There is virtually no lag on most of them, and if you have broadband then you're set. In a word, FUN. I've had this game for almost a year and I still play it for hours on end sometimes.
