This is a very good game. After playing all three games it all makes a lot of sense. Riven has great visual effects, and a very good story line. Though you have to change the disks everytime you go to the next island. It is still very graphic and involves more characters then the first and third games. I recommend you play this game after the first if you not already. It is great and is very important to understand Exile.

Full Immersion

I enjoyed Riven more than Myst. Riven was more difficult than Myst, for me, but I still only needed two hints to complete Riven. I would highly recommend Riven to adventure gamers. It really has set a new standard for the genre. Haven't played Exile yet, but I wanted to complete Riven before moving on to #3. What these Cyan games possess - far above any other adventure games I've played - are smart, subtle story lines that really keep your attention. How refreshing to play a game that respects the player's intelligence and sense of inquisitiveness and adventure. I know I'm hooked when I think about a game throughout my day. Riven does become your world. Finally, like Tolkien's 'The Lord of the Rings,' the Myst games possess subtle yet compelling Christian symbols - a spiritually fulfilling experience.

My favorite of the Myst series

This is the best game I have ever played. It took so long and I was so worn out by the end that I felt that I had really been on a journey. Very Good! I would just recommend you play Myst first.

Pure entertainment!

Riven is quite a far step up from Myst and requires some experience with Myst beforehand in order to sucessfully navigate throughout the game. This is yet another masterpiece of the Myst trilogy with it's interaction with characters and a whole new batch of intriguing yet infuriating puzzles that toy with the mind. I found Riven rather enjoyable mainly because it kept my brain hard at work and of course the graphics kept me entertained while I pondered on what to do next. If you liked Myst, Riven is most definitely worth a try!

wow.... it's so great

Riven is one of the most spectacular computer games to come along in a very long time. It's the sequel to Myst, which was a "got to have" on everyones' list. This game has mysterious moving rooms, time travel and secret passageways. To be successful requires precise timing and a good memory (or note-taking). As my title says, it's the best thing to come around in a while. So many adventures, so many puzzles and so many traps to steer clear. There's this one part where you........................................, see what I mean. It's so great!!

The best and most intriguing game I have ever played!

I love this game! I'm still working on it. Some of the puzzles are hard, but once you get into the ideas (you feel great when you solve the puzzles) it's like you open the door to a new world. I had help with MYST, because my brother played it first. I bought this game preowned, and once I started playing, I didn't know why someone would sell it! The graphics are amazing, and if you are persistant, you will discover that nothing is there for no reason. I gave this 5 stars, because the themes of the game are 5 and 5-pointed stars! You will really get into this game, unless you like shooting people games. I couldn't stop myself from playing this, and my brothers don't seem to mind, because they are amazed too. I would recommend this to anyone who thinks that they are up to the challenge, and who are confident about their IQ! It is much more exciting than MYST, and you will get addicted quickly. Don't buy a guide book, because then the whole point of the game, the discovery, is spoiled. I am still playing this game and I can't wait to see what is through the next door...

Later... This game is so amazing! It definitely is the best game that I have ever played. I got stuck in the last couple of hours of gameplay (the ceremonial chamber puzzle and the marble puzzle), so I had to buy this "hint" book, which gave way too much away. Well, I finished the game in two hours, and figured out how completely wonderful the experience had been. I was surprised to find out how dark the story was. I would never have thought that Gehn would hang his prisoners and feed them to the "fish"! That upset me, but the rest of the game made up for that. I recommend this game to everyone, unless you want to shoot people (violent games). Riven was so much better than Myst, and I can't wait to get Exile.

Riven, the sequel to Myst, is a great game. I got hooked and played it waaaay too much for the first month! The graphics and sound effects are great, and it is good that the Cyan boyz added living creatures. Learning more about D'Ni history was great, and this game was an overall success with me and my friends. I like Riven at least as much as Myst, and hope the next Myst game is this good!

Outstanding Game, but Very Hard.

I havn't played Myst yet, but I have completed this one. What an immersive game this is. Great graphics, great sound, great features to play with and great fantasy world. Riven might only be a small world, but it's well worth the visit. You even get to see some alien creatures here and there. I give this 4 stars because the puzzles were a bit too hard for a lot of gamers. It took me 3 months in all, WITHOUT HINTS I might add. If you like fantasy, puzzles and exploration. GET IT. It's worth it just for the graphics alone.

I've played both games more than once, myst as well as riven. I think they are still one of the best games ever in the adventure genre. No violence but still thrilling, very good sound and grafic design, and you're almost meditating while playing the game. Go and get them, I can't wait to get MystIII - Exile and it looks llike I'm going to have to get a new CPU and grafic card to play the sequel in 2001

I loved it!
