I love to play. I love to kill things. I dont love this game. It is too simple and has very little replay value. I played it twice and threw it out. Boring Boring Boring. It might keep a 9 year old gamer interested a while but anyone who has been playing Return to Wolfenstien multiplayer and games like that will get very quickly bored of the mindlessness and simplicity of the game. Some of the monsters are pretty funny, I must admit. Like the headless screamers. But it just wasn't worth my time. I guess this game is cool if your new to gaming and don't want to spend a lot but there are lots of better games out there.
This is not FAIR

I was expecting to receive the full version of this game if I was aware that it was less then half of the levels and not all the weapons were available I would not have purchased it. I will be wary of J and R from now on
"Special Edition" a glorified demo

Dont' get the Serious Sam: The First Encounter Special Edition. The "Special Edition" is basically a glorified demo version of the full version. It only comes with 7 of the 15 full-version levels and not all the weapons present in the full-version are present in this version. I recommend getting the full-version.

Serious Sam is a great game untill it's over in about 3 hours. Technically the single player take's about a day, but the fun, for me stops after about 3 hours because the game just become's boring and repitious. So if you are looking for a great shooter with DEPTH than this is not the one for you.

Serious Sam is a game that follows the old traditional style of Games such as Doom, Dukenukem 3d, and possibly Wolfenstein 3D.
This game lacks in story definition and also fun factors. If you are looking for a game with the least amount of plotlines and alot of mindless shooting the enemy away, this is the game for you. Graphics are decent. Some of the characters appear so silly that it lacks what Dukenukem games had. There is one scene in level one where a couple weird mutants run up to you screaming with bombs in their hands. In my opinion this game just is not for me. Perhaps others would enjoy it.
Gameplay = 8/10
Graphics = 7/10
Sound = 7/10
Value = 7/10
You could do a lot worse with $20

If they were trying to charge big bucks for this game I'd say forget it, but I'm adding my thumbs-up to all the other reviewers because it's a quality title for the price. Think of Serious Same as a graphic update to Doom. The game adds all the cool transparencies, lens flares, and other lighting effects, but it's pretty much a lot of running around in giant arenas and shooting everything that comes at you.
My only complaint is the shotgun is too slow to reload in my opinion compared to the other FPS's out there. You may find yourself using the rocket launcher more often. Don't expect much AI - they all just run at you and either blow up or start swinging. But it's a nice looking game and there's plenty of baddies to shoot down if you want to "kill" some time.
All killing and no brainwork make Sam a dull boy...

Serious Sam, the game, is basically nothing more than an attempt to show off the (admittedly sweet) Serious Engine. For $X.XX, what else did you expect?
But let us cast price aside for a moment, and see how it compares to the other slew of retail FPS games. The character of "Serious" Sam Stone has obvious roots in Duke Nukem, but with half the dry action-hero wit. There are a few funny, but short moments that made me chuckle (such as, when Sam screams "come and get me!", a horde of monsters swarm at him, and he mumbles "uh-oh...") but generally the jokes are flat. The level design is ridiculously spartan, with simple puzzles and architecture, but reams upon masses upon armies of bad guys. It needs to be said that the enemies you fight, though few, look undoubtedly cool. I especially enjoyed the decapitated screaming kamikazes (does that not just SCREAM "cliche"?). It's a good thing the enemies are so interesting... otherwise one would get bored after gunning down the five-billionth harpy.
All the game's about, really, is such wanton violence. And that's not so bad, is it?
What got my goat, so to speak, was the game's conclusion. After wading through the guts of 30,000 or so headless marauders, scorpions, and one of the biggest, baddest final bosses in recent video-game memory, I feel it safe to say that most people (including myself) will be rather displeased with the ending. No, I won't spoil it. Find out for yourself, but watch out for gibs!
Hmmm....

This was a good game, but it didnt have much of a storyline, and it was terribly short. In spite of that it was very fun, it gabve you an arsenal to blast away aliens in egypt. I have to give some compliments to croteam on their rendering, i havent seen 3d models that good since need for speed 5. Good job croteam. If you want buying advice, i say get it if you want to beligerantly blast away aliens. It is very arcadeish. It was worth [the money]... If you have a lower-end system, stay away from this game, it requires some beefy hardware, I reccomend a geforce 3.
So the final verdict, its a blast em game with no story and has good graphics, will get old fast but is fun. Go for it!
