Serious Sam is really a great game if you count the gameplay and everything else. I'm currently running Windows XP Professional with and nVidia Geforce MX 400, 128 PCI-800 RAM, with a Pentium 4 1.4 gHz processor. When I first started playing this game, it wouldn't let me load it up because it said the display should be 16 bit colors and so it couldn't run because it was a 'fatal error.' I changed the display to 16 bit colors and I started up Serious Sam again, hoping to play it. No such luck. It said the same thing to me over again even though I set the display to 16 bit from 32 bit. The point of frustration hit me. All these what if's popped up in my mind. I went to nVidia's website and downloaded a Detonator driver, and sucess! It worked. That was a pretty tedious thing to do, and so don't be discouraged if it says something about changing your display to 16 bit. Just follow my intructions.

This program is exactly what PC gaming is and should be. It installs easily. The game was published without "bugs" and the need for patches. The graphics are "great" and system requirements are minimal - you do not need a "cutting edge" computer to run the program seamlessly. The interface can be learned in about five minutes. But most of all, it is a fun program that doesn't take itself seriously. Highly recommended for gamers of all ages. One criticism, however, this Serious Sam is slightly shorter than the first Serious Sam game.

I love to play. I love to kill things. I dont love this game. It is too simple and has very little replay value. I played it twice and threw it out. Boring Boring Boring. It might keep a 9 year old gamer interested a while but anyone who has been playing Return to Wolfenstien multiplayer and games like that will get very quickly bored of the mindlessness and simplicity of the game. Some of the monsters are pretty funny, I must admit. Like the headless screamers. But it just wasn't worth my time. I guess this game is cool if your new to gaming and don't want to spend a lot but there are lots of better games out there.

Serious Sam is a game that follows the old traditional style of Games such as Doom, Dukenukem 3d, and possibly Wolfenstein 3D.
This game lacks in story definition and also fun factors. If you are looking for a game with the least amount of plotlines and alot of mindless shooting the enemy away, this is the game for you. Graphics are decent. Some of the characters appear so silly that it lacks what Dukenukem games had. There is one scene in level one where a couple weird mutants run up to you screaming with bombs in their hands. In my opinion this game just is not for me. Perhaps others would enjoy it.

I was expecting to receive the full version of this game if I was aware that it was less then half of the levels and not all the weapons were available I would not have purchased it. I will be wary of J and R from now on

I'm not going to say that this game is a "Quake" or "Doom" clone, although I am sure that there are many people who will say that this title is very similar. The guys are Croteam developed this amazing graphics engine that is capable of displaying massive numbers of high-poly count enemies on the screen at once. While the graphics are very good, I took a star off for the high system requirements required in order to make the game look like the screenshots found on the web. Not everyone is going to have the hardware needed in order to make this game playable at a constant 60fps. I know lots of people who have Pentium 3 500MHz systems with 8MB of VRAM - they'll be stuck playing Rollercoaster Tycoon til they upgrade. You will need to have a Geforce 2 level board at the bare minimum, simply for compatibility sake. While I enjoy the gameplay, there were points in the game where there was just WAY TOO MUCH going on at one time. I beat the game in about a week playing on Easy mode, anything higher didn't really interest me because A.) I've seen it all before and now it was much harder and B.) Did I mention it got really hard? If I had to do it over again, I would play the game starting on Medium diffculty right from the start, it would have taken me longer to complete and I probably would have honed my FPS skills even more.
It surreally good

Serious Sam. A main rack game at a bargain bin price, in an age where so many games are twice the price and offer little of value. If you want a different cheap game that's fun, you've got non-Sam options; however, they consist of games that are five years old (StarCraft, for example). Sam's not two yet, and he's at a great price.
But, price is not why you buy a game: I'd rather pay a normal price for a good game then a quarter of the price for a bad one. So, what's the game like? Think of Doom's plot for starters. Now, add a jump button, lights, better graphics, lots of units... you've got a start. Serious Sam is all about action, pure and simple. See a guy, shoot a guy, get points. Points! I don't know how long it's been since I saw a game with points. Other games say they're all action, but look at some of them. Medal of Honor: Allied Assault has lots of shooting, sure, but it's using the Quake engine: if you're lucky, you can see ten enemies at once. Compare that to when you're being swarmed by fifty suicidal toads, which are being replaced constantly. There are more enemies on the screen at once then in entire levels of some games. Heck (or more colorful language), you can probably kill more foes at once in Serious Sam then in all of Return to Castle Wolfenstein. So... yeah, there are a lot of enemies. And weird enemies, too. How many other games have you kill fifty guys with no heads and bombs for hands in a minute? Have you ever been beset on by the stampede of thirty mutant bulls, all barreling in your direction at full tilt? And don't get me started on the final boss; if I were to design games (not likely), one of my goals would be to make a boss that somehow bests that guy. It's the sort of crazy thing that games are supposed to make possible.
So, if you want a game with a deep plot, branching gameplay options, and some sort of stealth tactics, you've got plenty of choices. If you want to shoot at robot skeletons or giant fish, and give your brain the day off, Sam is the only way to go.

This is a first-person shooter that plays like the old tile-based shoot-em-ups. Especially in cooperative mode, there are monsters coming at you from every angle, all the time, and it's just an action-packed blast.
It's beautiful, too! The engine and levels are just amazing to behold.
Some of the "arenas" can get a bit repetitious, but frankly, you need the practice for later in the game, so I excuse them. Serious Sam is just a great game.

I grabbed this for about [] from a local game store and played it daily from the day i bought it until i beat it. It's incredibly fun, though very simple. The story isn't incredible, but that's usually not why i buy an FPS (Halo was an exception). The graphics are great, and i've run the game on my moderate system at highest detail.
Getting past certain areas can be a chore sometime - just make sure you have the quicksave key in a handy spot. The final boss was kind of boring and a lot easier than some of the earlier bosses/situation, yet it wouldn't suprise me if the expansion offered more of a challenge or maybe at least a little closure.
If you liked Duke Nukem 3D, then you will definitely like this game - snide remarks, violence, and often goofy enemies.
