No where on this website does it tell you that you can't play the game without paying a $12.95 monthly fee.

2.5 stars to be honest.

Repetitive music. Combat is mostly boring. Graphics are fair, fair, fair! I have a Radeon 9800 PRO and I have the few quality settings they offer on full. There are noticably better graphics out there on other MMORPGS. The zones are large and few. Getting around to other places is expensive or complicated. You can lose a level with XP losses due to death - old, dated EQ stuff there.

The game is OK. Nearly all your "INCREDIBLE" 5 star reviews all over the net are the F.F. fanatics that haved waited for this to come out and tried their first MMORPG game or may have looked at a few others briefly.
This is an average game this will make a lot of F.F. people happy.

Final Fantasy XI amazed me. The size of the game is enormous with thousands of people playing and numerous places to go. It is one of the most addicting games to play when you first buy it, but over time it gets boring. Hardly anything ever changes, and there's not a lot of action in it. But, for such a large game, the visuals are fantastic and it's great that you can create and personalize your own character. It has catchy music and creative events from time to time as well. It is fun, but since all you really do is level up your character, after awhile it just gets old.

A Gem in the MMORPG World

I've played a few MMORPGs, and this is one of the best. And since I've played pretty much every Final Fantasy game, I also know that this is one of those best in that series. Set in a medieval-like setting (which is more like the original games of the series, not like the recent FFX/FFX-2), you get to control your own character whom you select a look for and create his or her personality. Using the auto translate feature, you can talk to people in Japan and vice versa. It creates a wonderful and unique experience that really succeeds in putting you into that world and everything about it. This is a great game for gamers who are mature enough to respect others and who want to experience a game with a lot of other gamers from around the world. Oh and for those who complain about the monthly fee, you have to realize that it costs a lot of money to keep servers going for something like that. Just think how many people are on it at any given time. And the ability to auto update the program for new features, as well as adding on expansion packs, it just makes everything more fun in this never-ending story.

ok so i havnt played the game and i dont think its only 3 stars probly 5 star. 2 all u ppl who say the game rox i trust u. ive been playing final fantasy games since i got the 1st 1 4 nintindo (theyre bak 2gethr agin) since my ps2 was stolen ive been playing many mmorpgs (my fave so far was the 4th coming) and had noticed that it is VERY hard 2 lvl n ALL of them. my best friend has this game, he says its gooooooooood so i know that ill get it asap (n other words wen im at cc or bb) ff games aalways has good graphics 4 there time 1st ff didnt hav great graphics, but they were the best compaired 2 other games from that time n video game history. im sure squaresoft made this a great game, or all my friends wouldnt say its the best game theyve played. i wish i had a non summer job 2 pay 4 the monthly fee... i dought squaresoft could make a bad game if there lives depended on it. as 4 u noobs who cant lvl try try try ull eventually get it. lvling is no harder n this game than ne mmorpg so ur all noobs. im an expert. trust me. as 4 the higher lvl peeps, try helping a couple of those noobs who wrote those worthless reviews then they can set off on there own and if they STILL dont like it after playing 4 a long time then thats ok cus theyve gotten a chunk of the pie and they dont like the taste of it. but noobs... dont make a review unless u know wat ur saying. i no wat im saying cuz im an expert on mmorpgs and no that lvling is hard early on but if u truely like mmorpgs, ull look at it as more playing time like i do but i dont really care about lvling... just looking at monsters like there sacadas... SQUASHFEST (sacadas r coming 2 my area soon) ;P

This game would easily be the best MMORPG if you bought it with a friend. If you do that then you have an alliance you can depend on once one of you buy a world pass and go to the same server.

I don't see what some peoples problems are. I have the recommeded spec on every thing except i have 56k connection and this game works perfectly. i only had a disconnect once and that was because of our telephone line going down. the graphics are great and so is the job system and music. i don't mind payin the $12.95 a month this game is worth it. its like 50 games all rolled into what is Final Fantasy XI: Online

I haven't had a lot of time to play but I love the game. Grafics are some of the best and it is genaraly easy to find a party once you are at Level 14 or so. It takes a wile to level up at hire levels, but that is what makes it fun. Make shore you have a fast internet ( no phone line) and a good computer and you are set. I love this game and Highly recomend it.

ok look, you people are complaining that you didnt know that you had to have a geForce card...and that the manufactures should tell it on the box, well it does ok, look on the internet, sheesh. Shopping stupidely is one way to get a bad game experiance. I havent played this game, I am unlike you guys, trying it out before buying it. You complain about the pixelated graphics, get a better video card noob. You also say its dull and boring like all other final fantasies...well if you dont like the other ones why try this one? Then complain. Just keep your mouths shut and deal with your stupidity losses, because their your fault.

OK FIRST OF ALL I KNOW I HAVEN'T BEEN PLAYING FOR LONG BUT PEOPLE WRITE UNFAIR REVIEWS THERES THIS ONE DUDE WHO COMPLAINS THAT THE GRAPHICS SUCK (HE IS AN IDIOT) BECAUSE IF HE WERE SMARTER THAN HE IS HE WHOULD KNOW THAT THE GAME CAN BE ADJUSTED TO THE WAY YOU WANT(GO TO THE START MENU SEARH FOR LAYONLINE, THE FFIX,THE FFIX CONFIG). THEN THEY TALK ABOUT THE MONTHLY FEE AND BEING THE IDIOTS THEY ARE THEY SAY YOURE PAYING THE MONTHLY FEE TO PLAY THE GAME(WRONG)WHAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR IS THE SUBSCRIPTION TO PLAYONLINE SERVICES (MAIL, CUSTOMIZATION TOOLS, GM SURPPORT ETC...) AND THEN THEY TALK ABOUT YOU HAVE TO PARTY UP (WHO THE HELL SAYS SO) IF YOU DONT WISH TO PARTY UP THEN DONT) BECAUSE THEY ARE MANY OTHER THINGS TO DO. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT.
