What a waste

This game was a complete waste of money, the graphics were terrible and the gameplay was flat out boring, it should really cost only 5 bucks. The first day I had it I thought it was pretty cool, building cloth, food and toy stores but the game took forever to load and got jammed alot. The only reason I bought it was because I thought it was going to be like Roller Coaster Tycoon and the Sims. Dont get this game unless you try it first, my suggestion is to get RollerCoaster Tycoon, the Sims or Sim City 3000 instead.
Good idea badly implemented

the gameplay was alright, but all it allows you to do is certain scenarios. the only option for free game play is after you beat the scenarios, and even then there are no other players to compete against, it's just you.
Good Software

The software was good.. however it did not come in its original packaging. It would have been nice for me to know that. Anyway overall I think it was a good buy

My husband purchased this game for me six years ago, and it was one of the first PC video games I had played that was more involved than the ones that come pre-installed on any version of Windows. I found the game easy to navigate with a simple layout (unlike some other "Tycoon" games I've tried), and it worked great on both Windows 2000 and XP. In fact, it's what helped me keep my sanity while I was on bed rest while pregnant, as time seems to fly when you're playing this game.
It's been several years since then and I still enjoy playing it from time to time, but I REALLY wish there were more scenarios or an expansion pack to go with it. It seems like they could have easily made many more, but didn't. Go figure?? Anyways, now that I have Windows Vista, the only way to get it to play is to set the properties to play with Windows XP SP2 compatibility and turn off the music on the game configuration. Like another reviewer said, the music is part of what makes it fun, so I have to say that on Windows Vista, this game would only get two stars.
Bottom line: If you want a simple (yet easy to navigate) and possibly addicting game this is a good one; and at five bucks, the price is great. Just don't get it if you have Windows Vista.
I love this game

This game is cheap on here. I bought this game from Walmart for 9.99. It was kinda easy though. It took me a while to finish this game. I did however like this more than the regular MONOPOLY.
My favourite game to date...

I bought this game on the strength of the many reviews I have read. I tend to be skeptical about reviews and figured that this game was being overhyped somewhat. But I am please to say that I couldn't have been more wrong. THIS GAME IS EXCELLENT. If anything this game is pretty underhyped actually.
The graphic engine is awesome, real smooth. The game itself has great depth, allowing you the freedom to experiment with edless different strategies and as such is quite organic. At the heart of the city lies a real economy clearly driven by the people's needs and your ablility to efficiently meet their demands. This balancing act is a game in itself, but trying to outwit computer opponents in the process, makes this game a real satisfying challenge. I have not yet played online but look forward to doing so just as soon as I have mastered some new tactics I'm working on. I plan to give online opponents a real run for their money.
(Well done Deep Red, and thank you)
For Online - many technical problems

The game if played solo is just an average nothing special game
and can in fact be aggravating.
If wishing online play, (which would be more interesting and is advertised), people should first review all the comments about technical problems. Those can be viewed at the Gamespy.com forum.

If you're into such "real" simulation games such as Railroad Tycoon, Civilization, or the Sim-series, this game is not for you. It is very simplist, and not at all challenging. The graphics aren't that great, and there aren't that many factors influencing game play that make it interesting.
