With a $4.99 bargain bin price, the amount of stuff to do and the fun time this game provides, it's worth the 5 star rating.
It is okay if you didn't expect it to be Monopoly...

I was very disappointed with this game when I first played it.
It is not at all like the board game. In this game the players
do not take turn. In the scenario I am on now, there are three
computer players and me. The computer players all play at once, and I don't have time to even look at the menus and figure out what to do before they have gone through their pre-planned agenda... It is not fun to rush the game and not have time to think about strategy. The auctions are especially annoying. It takes forever after you decide to buy something to have the auction come up, and then they seem to take too long. And while you are waiting for the auction the computer players are racing on ahead. I also don't like the scenarios -- they are supposed to be dealing with different aspects of the game, but since there aren't all that many different aspects, it really doesn't work out that well. One of the major disappointments about the game was that it did not have a sandbox... Well a fan has already provided that, so there is already a nice addition... But if you expect the board game in 3d save your money. And, speaking of 3D, it is overkill for this game. It is actually hard to manipulate the screen and the 3d effects add virtually nothing to the play.
Monopoly Tycoon is great...

Monopoly Tycoon is great. You learn a lot from it on how supply and demand works and how you can go bankrupt real easy if your not careful. It is a really exciting game. I like it a lot.

Well, I haven't had the chance to give it the FULL play that it may deserve. I have a few computers in my house connected to my little 'ChazNet', and I'd like to be able to play it against my wife or one of my bratlings on the net to see if it's fun in multiplayer mode - I haven't been able to do that because I don't seem to be able to make a spawn of the game... c'mon, you know what I'm talking about... Like in Starcraft... you buy the game and you can 'spawn' or install the same CD on another computer for netplay if the extra computer will just be a client... so Monopoly Tycoon does NOT have that capability from what I can find. But in one player mode... ehhh... well it was addictive for a couple days, and pretty darned fun. Scenarios are ok. It keeps acting like it locks up, but if you give it a minute or two... literally... or maybe three minutes... it starts playing again... Fun... yet, somewhat lacking. I haven't played it for a while and don't really miss it much... but I may go back to it again some time... know what I mean?

This game is really fun. Although its not like monopoly, they do a good job of adapting a tycoon game with monopoly.
Not ready for prime time

As an avid RCT fan, I was really looking forward to MT release.Well, it arrived yeasterday and I must say, it is terrible. The graphics (esp. the text)look like something designed 10 years ago. The concept execution is very complicated, mixing city building SIM,business SIM and "character" SIM, but is a way too confusing way. The game froze a few times, and I couldn't exit it. The early scenarios are simplistic. It's not even up to the quality of a beta version! What else bad can I say?
I only refrain from giving it 0 stars (even though I gave up "playing" after 45 minutes)I am hoping MT has "potential" if I can steel myself to get back to it. BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD FOLKS.
Bad Technical support!

I bought this game on the strength of the many reviews I have read. I tend to be skeptical about reviews and figured that this game was being overhyped somewhat. But I am please to say that I couldn't have been more wrong. THIS GAME IS EXCELLENT. If anything this game is pretty underhyped actually.
The graphic engine is awesome, real smooth. The game itself has great depth, allowing you the freedom to experiment with edless different strategies and as such is quite organic. At the heart of the city lies a real economy clearly driven by the people's needs and your ablility to efficiently meet their demands. This balancing act is a game in itself, but trying to outwit computer opponents in the process, makes this game a real satisfying challenge. I have not yet played online but look forward to doing so just as soon as I have mastered some new tactics I'm working on. I plan to give online opponents a real run for their money.
(Well done Deep Red, and thank you)
