Almost Perfect!

This tycoon game was almost perfect. In my opinion it is a upgrade of playing the board game. You get to lease and auction property from the city and build stores, apartments and make money. Time goes by really fast in years and you see a little as far as the cars and the other way to tell is by the different type of stores available to open. Once in a while they give you a card and you either have to pay something or get money, similar to the board game. I really enjoyed it but I wish you can move on to the next level with what you have built instead of starting all over again at the new/next level. If it wasn't for that I would have graded it a 5.
10 minute long scenarios is tedious and not fun

Step into the real world with a new and highly competitive version of Monopoly. This is not competitive like you roll the dice, see where you land, buy the property, then build houses once you get a monopoly. This is a game where at any given second you can lease a property from the city (where then it goes to auction instead of you just buying it) or you can build a residential or retail area without owning the land (you just rent it). It makes for some interesting things, such as someone will build lots of buildings on rented land, then another player will buy the land out from under them. Once you start enjoying the game, then it unfortunately ends, because this game goes in scenarios, not full-length games (like playing a demo that cuts off after 10 minutes). Its also very tedious, because itýs the same city over and over, so you basically go build the same stuff over and over. The scenarios sound basic (make 100 sales, earn $3000 profit in one day, reach an empire of $20,000, have the most money by 1945), but they are difficult at times because the game does not offer insights as to how to complete the scenarios. There are nice smooth 3D graphics to the game, but the tools to create buildings are troublesome.
Beta looks good

I can say that I've seen the beta, and this game looks like everything that you'd ever want in a simulation: You have your building, of course, but you also run your business, compete with other businessmen, and in the tried and true fashion of good ole' American business, underhanded tactics are frequent and often rewarding in this game.
For it's price, you should pick it up immediately. Should be up for several awards if the final product is as good as it is shaping up to be.

I read a number of rave reviews of this game and was excited to try it. I didn't get it for Christmas AS REQUESTED so I bought it for myself for my birthday. I love Monopoly and I became a SimCity 1.0 junkie back in college 13 or more years ago.
The only real "Monopoly" aspects of the game are the names of the places, the different types of property and the colors associated with them, the different characters and the idea of added power when one owns all properties of a given color.
It is mostly a SimCity type game, very well thought out. I would call it an "economy" simulation. The simulation mainly consists of you polling the citizens in the game, determining what service(s) they want and meeting those demands. You do this within constraints of space, distance and budget.
I played it for an afternoon and enjoyed it. It didn't "grab" me and suck me in, however. I hope to pick it up again and play some more however I won't be surprised if it gathers dust like so many other games I have tried.

I usually play the board games, the ones that are very easy to play. The tycoon games such as airline, are very hard and difficult to play and understand for me. Monopoly Tycoon was very easy and understanding and did not take alot of time to get started. Their are a number of reasons why. The game has alot of tutorials. Twelve of them. They take you step by step into the game. The game functons, the auctions, everything step by step. After the tutorials, when you play the game as a single player. The game has scenarios (tasks) that have to be accomplished before you can go on to the next one. Once again, this game takes you step by step into game. The gameplay progresses slowly at your pace. The game is beautifully done because of the way that this game brings you into the game. Playing a game is learning, and this game you learn alot more than other games of the like. I was impressed right from the very beginning. I would highly recommend this game, especially if you like playing tycoon games or are a great fan of Monopoly games as I am. It is great for all ages.

Great game, not too complicated or not too simple. Great multiplayer capablities. Lots of fun would recomend it to anyone who enjoys Roller Coaster Tycoon, Sim City, Sim Tower, or an Monopoly Game. This is one of the best games I have played in a long time and would recomend it to anyone!
It's fun, but repetitive

This game is a lot of fun -- initially. Played on a Monopoly-like "board" it's up to you to create a balance of shops and housing for your SIM residents; earning you the big bucks and wiping out the competition. There are a series of challenge levels that take you through various competitions from earning the most money by the year 1960, to who can make $40,000 in sales first. The auction part is interesting, as you try to outbid other computer-generated competitors to own the most property on the board, without going bankrupt (there's only one day's leniency if your bankroll is in the red). However, the game has no perceptual difference between the bronze, silver and gold levels to warrant that designation. It's like playing the same challenges through each of these accelerated levels. This game was a lot of fun though, it occupied hours of enjoyment for me, so it's worth the money. Enjoy!

I just received this game and have found it to be suprisingly fun. The graphics are impressive (the 3D engine is particularly well done), and the game as a whole is very polished. I had very little problem learning how to play, as 12 detailed training sessions are provided. The sound and music are very well matched to the pace and tone of the game. I have not yet tried the multiplayer option, but if it is as well designed as the rest of the game, it will be a treat.
What a great game

Seeing all of the bad reviews almost made me consider not buying this game. They said that they got bored with it and such. I see endless possiblities for addictive fun. I highly recommend that you buy this game, and as more people get it the multiplayer will quickly build. I was highly looking forward to this game when I saw it in the store, and I can't believe that I let a few bad reviews almost sway my opinion and put me out of hours of fun.
