What can I say....BUY this game. This game rocks.. If you buy any game this year, BUY THIS ONE!!!!!!! I have nothing bad to see about this one. The cut scenes are great, the AI isnt bad at all. The matrix style "bullet time" is just outstanding!
BUY THIS ONE!!!!!!
The best shooter game yet!!

I love this game. It has mind blowing graphics, but keep in mind that it isnt for a PII 400 system, I was able to get a little chop on my system at times with everything cranked up w./ 4x AA,and the room is full of people, bullets flying and bombs exploding, and I have a Athlon 1.33 w/ 256 Mbs DDR, and an Geforce 3 video card, so I couldnt imagine playing on a lower system, but with the Geforce 3 (get yours today!) you can crank up all the settings w/ 4x AA and its like nothing ever seen before. Great game, extremely violent, some nudity (late in the game in pictures). You have to try it but remeber the system requirements. And the plot will keep you glued to your PC.
Amazing!! Excellent !! Best game i ever played !

I just love this game. I just love the way it interacts with you, specially on the streets of NY in the night under the snow. I just love that environment. Excellent!! Cheers to the developers !!

I could waste your time by telling you about all the great features of this game but there are about 50+ reviews that already do that... This is my review simply put.
If you have ever played an action game, and enjoyed it. In fact if you consider yourself a gamer of any kind. It is your duty to own this fine peice of software, no, wait. This is not software, this is art.
This Game is awesome/fun and Addictive.

Before I actually bought this game, I thought it was going to be another duke nukem, quake kind of game, but I have to admit I was wrong and blown away with the amazing features of Bullet Time. and Matrix-Like Effects. I didn't have enough Ram and a good enough Graphics card, But I upgraded within about 1 hour with 191 total ram and a Geoforce graphics card, and it plays well with a 600 MHZ computer to play Max Payne. When I first Started the Game it seemed too easy for me. I got too Part 1 Chapter 9. in about 3 hours. and now It's a challenge for me. Not only is this totally fun and Addictive. But Iv been playing it about 5-6 hours a day. I would Suggest that only those who like violent games buy it. It does have some content that is not suitable for kids(Adult Language, Content) There is a reason why this game is supposed to be the game of the year!- BUY it you will like it. The only negative thing I have is sometimes when you shoot at a guy, it doesn't shoot. so sometimes you have to shoot 2 times to shoot. Oh well, Time for me to play Max Payne!
CYA.
Two guns up!

This game is amazing! It's different from any first person shooter game I ever played. And that's what I like about it. The sound and graphics are great. Big levels to wander. And the violence is strong perfet for all you die hard fans. But a nuff about what I think, let me tell you about the plot. The game begins when you enter your house and you notice that your furniture is toppled and torn and your pictures are knoked down. Not to mention your dead wife and kid. Vengeful Max goes to see his only friend at the subway. But as soon as you get there and meet him your friend gets a brain wheggie before you can say "hi pal". Now you have the mob and the Feds after you. Cool aint it! Well that pretty much it and the rest you'll have to find out for your self.
PS= If you liked this review I'm doing one on Clive Barker's Undying soon. It's a cool game for all you action-science fiction gamers. Be sure to check it out.
Oh my god!

This has to be one of the most fun games i have ever played! The gameplay is top quality, very innovative new features (like bullet-time) and a storyline straight out of a movie! Defienetly a 5-star game. I promise that this will be the most talked about game EVER on the PC since Half-Life. It has "Game of the Year" written all over it. Dont hesitate, dont ponder weither it is worth the 50 bucks. Order it by Next Day Air right now!! I promise that you wont regret it
Repetitive, dull, cliche'd game is simply not that much fun

Max Payne has been in development for approximately 4 years, and it took all that time to publish a [...] game that doesn't include a multiplayer mode, very, very few cut scenes, and one boring character who has the constant look of constipation or a reaction to "stinky feet" on his face 100% of the time, it's really very annoying.
The whole game revolves around "Bullet time," a nifty idea that is great when it's simply another feature in a game, but to have the entire game built around it is simply boring.
Max Payne consists of running into a dark room, shooting everybody, then moving on to the next room, wash, rinse and repeat, over and over and over.
On top of that you get to read incredibly corny, "John Woo" style (whatever that is) dialogue (read: bad cliches) and cinematic flair.
The story revolves around you finding your wife and child shot by someone and you go out for revenge as a renegade cop of sorts and uncover a large conspiracy. The characters are completely uninteresting, look much too similar, and the comic book style text which breaks things up are as boring and dull as an episode of NYPD Blue.
Max Payne should've (been cheaper) for the game itself is only about 10 or so hours long, has little to-no extras, and limited replayability.
Shooting people in slow motion simply isn't enough to knock my socks off I guess.
What type of gamer are you??

Definitely "Max Payne" has a lot of innovations to show, technically speaking. The special effects of slowing time (the Matrix-style effects), bullet time, special dodge maneuvers are all unique to this game. Besides this it is quite a no-brainer of a game and quite a short one as well.
Decide what type of a gamer are you... The "Deus Ex" type, where you have to think, interact, interrogate, read etc... in order to survive, or the Duke Nukem type where you go around shooting and shooting and ....
Personally I was deeply disapponited in this game.
Max is great

Max Payne is a must have for any serious gamer. The graphics and realism are all that anyone could ask for, however you must be sure that you have a system that can handle the kind of power needed to be able to enjoy this game to the fullest. If you don't, all you'll be able to see is choppy, slide by slide movie looking gameplay, which takes away from the game, and makes it so that it's virtually unplayable. The bullet-time mode is what really makes the game though. It slows down time so that you can kill multiple enemies in one room, while taking minor if any injuries to yourself. Once again, a must have for any serious gamer.
