A feast for the eyes and mind.

Grim Fandango will definitally be enjoyed by fans of film noir and mexican mythology. I'd give it a 4 and a half if i could. The graphics have their flaws and the game runs choppy on systems not far ahead of the system requirements. Some of the puzzles are utterly impossible to figure out without incredible luck or the aid of a stradegy guide but the game is truly astonishing. You follow the character Manny Calavera, a travel agent for the dead, guiding souls to their final resting place in the best way possible. For some reason, Manny is denied any premium clients. Whos behind all this? Find out over a 4 year journey from the dusty streets of El Marrow, to the edge of the world and back again. Absolutely beautiful backgrounds and film noir-ish music immerse you in the atmosphere. Clever interface and variable controls are great. A very involving game. Not too long not too short. Humor and wit are weaved through every scene. In conclusion, film noir style, surreal visuals, toe tapping and ensuing music, gripping story, charming characters, and challenging puzzles will intrigue all game fans.

the best humour you'll can find in a game!

A delicious atmosphere, a great sound, the best designed, architectured world and a great , great sense of humour. For me, the option of also having the dialogues written is perfect, since I am Portuguese and it is easier to understand if I can read it too. I love the spanish accent. An excellent adventure and puzzle . Very good entertainment.

incredible!

This is one of the most enjoyable games I have ever played. It should have experienced more success than it did. LucasArts does a great job putting out hilarious adventure games and this one (in my opinion) is right up there with Monkey Island.

The puzzles are very well integrated with the story line. The characters are great. Glottis is truly hilarious. At a couple points during the game I found myself laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. This game is very classy and very well designed. If I had to make a complaint, it's that the game ended to soon.

Enjoyed it thoroughly, but one star behind Monkey Island 3.

I rate a game on how many deadends I hit, and for what reason I hit them. I only hit two in Grim -- the reason was not logic but a trick in character manipulation. I usually don't get tricked if there are logical reasons to pursue (the worst case of "no logic" is Lighthouse for example). The game was very entertaining and there were only a few "aborts" to deal with. I had no problems with elevators as mentioned in the editor's review. Still -- I enjoyed Rama and Monkey Island more than this one.

Gorgeous graphics & top-of-the-line story! Plan to repeat!

Well, LUCASARTS has done it again! This was one of MY favorites! I love the story more than playing it. Throughout the entire game I felt as though I were in a movie! Not easily accomplished. The voices were right on cue. One of my favorite sites was the Cat Track. Being an owner of two white persians, this was especially dear. Plus the entire appearance of the Calvera Cafe was so deco, an era I adore. I have yet to complete it..I am well into my fourth day, but I know I will not be disappointed in the conclusion. Can hardly wait to complete my household duties ( which suffer until I complete each adventure game ) & get on the keyboard. The only thing I do not care for is the keyboard response. I would be already through! I am constantly making Manny walk backwards & look retarded! I love it & plan to repeatedly play it. Praises & Raves from Lovely Louisiana! Virginia

When I first got this game I was very exited. There was a lot of hipe around this game and it is all true. From the first movie you know you are in for a treat.

You start out in the land of the dead as a travel agent(grim reaper) trying to pay back your deat for a less than perfect life. Then though you sense something fishy going on because you never seem to get any of the good clients. And the story goes on from there.

The game is set in a 20's setting with all the mobs. You meet some of the most interesting charecters you have ever seen. The charecters are all 3D and they look beautiful. Even though all the charecters are 3D it is not a polegon fest, all the backrounds are beautiful hand painted peices of art, as good as Myst.

The controls are a little clumsy at first, but once you get the hang of it, it is very easy to use. When you see an item your charector's head moves, it works very well, but when you are far way from the camra it is hard to see if the head moves.

All and all this is the best game of the year, and may be one of the best games ever made. This is the first adventure game that actualy made me want to keep playing, and almost dreading the end. This is the future of adventure games, and I think that anyone that likes games should go out and buy Grim Fandango

Beautiful graphics, intriguing story, and fun puzzles are all in this new game by Lucas Arts. I'll skip the story, since you can read it above. I must mention one thing, the voice acting is great. Kudos to Tony Plana, the voice of Manny Calavera. Grim Fandango isn't perfect though. There are some clipping problems and control problems, but I'm sure these will be fixed soon. The problems do not hamper the game in any way. I recommend this game to anyone who likes quirky, fun adventure games with a twist of film noir.
