Gameplay not perfect not still insanely impressive

Well I decided to actually watch the movie and play the game before posting a review, but I understand everybody's eagerness...
First of all, I can say that it's a very impressive game, not only about gameplay but also the way it intertwines with the movie. There's about an hour of footage (haven't seen them all yet) with all the same actors as in the movie. It basically fills in a lot of what went on during the movie but they couldn't fit it in, all revolving around the character Niobe.
You can play one of two characters, and the tasks are different depending on which one you pick, so basically that means you can play this game twice.
The gameplay combines FPS (kind of), third person shooter, fighting, driving, and ship piloting. Given this ambition, I guess it would be too demanding to ask for everything to be perfect, and it's not. The one-on-one or one-on-many fights are very impressive but sometimes I feel like a chimpanzee could just sit there and press the mouse buttons to kick some agent ass (can I use that word on Amazon?). Driving was a bit awkward as you can't change views but well done nonetheless. Shooting reminds me of Splinter Cell a bit, but you have to guess your aim as there is no target marker. What's great with the Niobe character is that you can run on walls, do somersaults as you shoot, slow down the action so you see the bullets in "bullet time," jump great distances, and other funky stuff you see in the movies. I haven't played the Ghost character yet but it seems more gun focused (sniping, shooting from cars, etc...).
As for the footage, I was surprised how closely they follow the movie. They probably filmed the movie and game footage at the same time. The only actors you don't see from the movie much are the main characters like Neo, Morpheus, and Trinity. If you watch the movie first, you'll get a lot more out of it. I also feel bad for those that like the movie but don't play games, since the one hour of footage is definitely a great supplement to the movie.
Anyway, that's my two cents. If you like video games and like the movie, it's a must buy, and even if you like only the movie or video gaming, I still think it's worth your while.

OK so after all the hype the game is finally here.. Atari/Infogrames staked alot on this title and it seems to have paid off.. The game is very large but worth the hard disk space.. Ok so the focus option has been seen in Max Payne but it appeared in the Matrix Movie first.. So we can leave that bit out.. The first level is a great way to get into the game, lots of action although the fact that people you have already wasted re-appear is annoying.. The graphics are good although they could have been a little more polished (guess thats the problem with strict release dates). Multi-player would have been nice (they could have included the training simulator as seen in the movie) Sound is great, it gives you the feeling of really being there.. If they can iron out the bugs and release an update then this would be a fine game to add to your collection.

I saw Matrix reloaded and didn't understand it. I played this game and it put things together. This game is really fun. I played though it the first time and my mouth was wide open. The highlight of this game is the hand to hand combat. IT AMAZING!!! This game takes back everything that Max Payne stole from the Matrix and kicks it up a notch. The story is excellent... you even get to fight Trinity hand to hand which is probably one of the coolest things in the game.
Bad story line

Shooting guns in slow motion is cool if you get to wear black suits in the so called "Matrix." But come on, the story line is too so so. Many people that review this game are so disappointed because they think they are going to be immersed in to the "Matrix World." They think that once they pop this game into their computer, they are going to magically become Neo or Morpheous, and fly like superman. All these reviewers dogging this game are obviously Neo and Morpheous Wannabees plain and simple. It's so sad that they have no lives and have to be over critical about a sub-par video game. Sorry you're not Neo one star reviewers, but it's time for you to go out and get a life. Anyone who rates this game under three is obviously a loser Neo/Morpheous Wannabee. Any how, this game provides some cool action. Of course, this game doesn't bring anything new to the table. The slow motion effects were already done in Star Wars and Max Payne. Yes, the game could of been better, but it wasn't bad. I had a lot of fun playing it. If your a die hard matrix fan loser boy, you will like this game. Of course, you would probably like a can of beans with the word matrix stamped on it as well:( I haven't passed it yet, because unlike the morons who said they passed it one day, I have a life. Between dating my super model girlfriend and driving my 2002 Porsche 911 turbo, I don't get to play much. But yes, it's not a waste of money. I have plenty of money though, so I suppose I don't speak for everyone. If you have to choose between buying a turkey to feed your starving family, or buying this game, it would probably be wise to get the turkey instead. Just buy this game unless your poor.

Now, before any Matrix fanboys(or girls) jump on my back, just hear me out. Obviously I think this game will be definitly worth playing. The story looks great and the kung-fu looks incredible. However, the graphics are not up to par with what can be currently produced. Unfourtunatly, the controls are rather clunky. The "Focus" gimmic, while it looks very cool and fun, it promises to be rather difficult to use. And, the gimmic isn't even their own idea. Max Payne first came up with the idea. In conlcusion, I beleive Enter The Martix will be an average game, but it will be worth playing even if only for the story.

This game is guaranteed to be one of the best games of 2003! The first movie was great the second looks sweet from the previews and the next one after The Matrix: Reloaded is bound to be great. This game is going to be a mix of Max Payne, and Tomb Raider by the looks of the screenshots, but also it has the storyline of Maxtrix Reloaded. Theres no way thing game is gonna have people wishing they hadn't bought it... there's defenitly no way.

This is one of the worst games of the year. Even hardcore Matrix fans will be dissapointed in this product. If you want to play an action game with a matrix style of playing, get Max Payne and download the free Matrix MOD for it.
