Amazing game.....just one small thing...

This game is absolutely amazing. The graphics are some of the best I have seen too. This game is kinda hard to drscribe, but imagine your playing populous, creatures, sims and C&C all at the same time. There is no way to describe it and it is totally addicting. It had both online and offline single mode play and both are extremely fun.

My only complaint is that there is like 5 single player levels and only 3 multiplayer levels. This seems really short to me, but let me also state that it will take you around 10 hours for some of the levels if you try and complete all the quests.

Not to mention the makers of this game will most likely release new level and creatures as time goes on.

Buy this game now so you can be part of the first truely groundbreaking title since well...ever.....

Great Game

Quite possibly game of the year, Black and White is one of the greatest games of all time. This game has a ton of depth, and it would take an extremely long time to do everything that there is to do in it.

JUST IMAGINE BEING A GOD!

FINALLY, a game that everyone can enjoy by choosing to be a good or an evil god, you DECIDE. That doesn't mean that if you decide to begin with being a good god you'll always stay good, you can change whenever you want to considering on what kind of behavior you have against your people. Cast wondrous miracles (such as lightning bolts, fireballs, ext.) to impress the people of the land and make them believe in you.Protect your worshipers using miracles against your enemies or use miracles punish them and making them suffer and be frightened of you. You'll also have the chance of obtaining your own creature (based on an animal) and teach him to do good deeds or evil deeds. You'll start with two adivors which are your own conscience (a good one and and evil one) until the game ends, they will help you on making a good choices or evil choices when the people ask for help (but remember you are the God, you decide what to do). What's also great about this game is that you can go online and battle your creature against your friends creature and see who it the best God. I recommend this game to everyone, it doesn't matter what kind of games you like, You will LOVE this game!!

Listen, you cant expect more of a computer game than is truely possible. You cant expect your creature to jump out of the computer screen and play with you. It isnt possible. I say dont give something less of a rating just because it didnt accomplish the impossible.

In fact, Lionhead did a wonderful job on the game. The graphics are amazing, the AI is the best in the world without a doubt, and the personality and 'intelligence' of the creatures is unparalleled in any other game. This game is truely amazing and deserves five stars all the way for being the most ground breaking cutting edge game yet to date!

Civ repackaged

After playing this a little while, I realized that it's basically Civilization with a new face. Instead of managing cities, you manage a village; instead of settler units, you have villagers, instead of keeping the people happy you keep them faithful, etc., but basically it's the same game of juggling resources, etc.

The graphics are pretty good. You have to give them credit for trying to reinvent the game interface, but the interface they come up with probably isn't worth the trouble. Also early in the game they force you to go through a lot of annoying cut scenes and "tutorial" bits, and as far as I can tell you can't turn that off. This gets annoying if you want to start the game again. Also, a lot of the characters have affected British (or possibly pseudo-British) accents that got really annoying after a while.

This "you play god" premise is something of an exaggeration. In fact, when you play this game you jump through a lot of hoops and your actions are put in a highly structured context. You're certainly not omnipotent in the game -- there are lots of things you simply can't do. It would be more accurate to say that you're a wizard or giant or something like that.

A Flawed but Fantastic Game

Black and White is a role-playing game in which you play one of several competing gods of Eden. You make several decisions of whether you'll go the evil way, which tends to be the easiest, or if you have a kind heart, you choose the good way. These decisions are based on suggestions by your consience, or two little figures floating around your screen. One is you evil side, the other is your good side. They have several names: Good and Evil, Black and White, Yin and Yang. It is good to make several files of which each takes a different path. On the in game screen, you have one hand that is used as the cursor. You use the hand to drag you around the world of Eden. You use it to transport goods to other towns, to train your creature(all gods have a creature, you may raise it according to your personality), to cast spells and, if necessary, to chuck your people here and there. The overall gameplay concept was very unique, and even more entertaining. The graphics are quite good, yet average in the category of small details, like faces on people and terrain. Black and White is not as addictive as other games, yet even some amazingly good games are not as addictive as others(Mario and Pokemon are examples). There are a few bugs that need fixing, such as whenever you(or at least I) try to quick save outside my temple, it never actually does. This gets annoying later in the game, as so many important things are happening that you just don't have time(or want to) be in your temple to save a game. This game is worth your time and money, even iff some of the bugs can be quite nagging. If you are planning to buy this game, take consideration into what kind of games you like. This game may not appeal to all of you. Congrats to ... on one great game!

After awaiting the release of B&W for over two years, I was, for lack of other words, disappointedly impressed. While the game has beautiful graphics, an incredibly intricate plot, and a totally new interface, I also found the amount of bugs, loading times on slower machines, and unlogical and hard to read manual took away from the overall enjoyment. I was most looking forward to the online playing, and it seems that from what Lionhead originally stated, and the release version are very different.

nothing i can say can possibly describe this game. it's unlike anythign you've ever played before. it's VERY interactive, VERY involving. I would compare it to crack cocaine in computer game format: more addictive than anythign in the world.

let me put all the fun this way: you're a god. you get to do whatever the hell you want. and no matter what path (black or white) is your thing, you'll be blown away.

the key factor to five stars is production: brilliant EVERYTHING. I have no idea how they do it, but I want to know. Amazing visuals, tied in with brilliant dynamic sound, with great and fast gameplay that doesn't seem to get old. Furthermore, the integrated storyline is (in my humble opinion) brilliant! The integration of stroy elements touches you lightly, but it fits, and everything inside the game makes you want to play it more and more.

You might hate this, because you're allergic to fun. You might dislike it because you're playing it wrong. But this isn't Sim City! This isn't Civilisation, either. It's funny, it's 'cute' it's 'scary' it's FUN... I would like to bring up one negative quality to the game, and I can't think of one!

oh, here's something negative: when you save your game inside your temple and your creature is on the leash, there is a little bug that makes the leash dissapear so you have to cast leash all over again. if you can bare with that, you will enjoy the game.

You want to know if you should buy it?

That's exactly the question I asked about 4 days before I bought it (the day I found out about it.) I was pretty skeptical at first with all those reviews that said, "I've played this game for 60 hours and I decided I hate it." What kind of person would play a game for 60 hours and THEN decide they hate it? I'm pretty sure that's what most of the reviews said. Personally, I've played the game for about 45 hours. I checked with the timer in the game in the save game room.

My computer meets the game specifications recommendations EXACTLY except for the CD drive speed (mine is a little faster.) The game does have a little stuttering every now and then but it doesn't ruin any of the game play. I've heard that a lot of people haven't been able to play it on their machines but maybe you should check the minimum spec.s BEFORE buying it!

Honestly, this game is pretty adictive. It doesn't seem like it but when you are playing you just don't want to stop. There is no such thing as 'a good place to save'. I have still not finished playing the game after 45 hours and there is still going to be more features as the patch comes out shortly.

I seriously recommend this game. The game looks great and it has a very nice tutorial when you start the game so you know exactly how to play. The tutorial at the beginning was just amazing.

I've talked to other people who love this game too. They also like first person shooters such as Unreal Tournament which used to be my favorite game (before I got B&W.) I don't know why that is but if you liked UT you'll probably like B&W.

Hope this helped

The game IS EVERYTHING everyone here claims it to be BUT...

you gotta try it out with the Logitech force-feedback mouse, it adds a whole new dimension to the already-mervelous game!
