I am a big fan of Halo 2 and waited for so long for this game to arrive in the stores and online. When it was anounced i picked up 2 copies of this game for me and my buddy. I play this game on my big 52' LCD HDTV with 1080P resolution and i find it really appealing.
The online play is extraordinary and outstanding. The campaign mode is awesome with a lot of surprises. I spent a lot of time to get to all the hidden stuff on each map.
If you have never played Halo or Halo 2 you better do before you try out this game.

I will just go on the record reinforcing the notion that Halo 3 suffers for its shallow and repetetive single player campaign. The multiplayer alone is fantastic and the coop mode makes the story mission much more bearable. The features in the multiplayer game including the interface (matchmaking system), the Forge, film and photo features are so well executed that going back to alot of the other multiplayer games' multiplayer interface seems like a huge step back. I have fewer problems with connections in Halo 3. The community can be a bit annoying but that is a problem I've had across the board.
After all is said and done, Halo 3 is a great game if just for the multiplayer, but those without Live are getting shafted with about 1/1000 of the true value of this game.
Great experience, but ending leaves you empty.

I'm not technically a HALO "fan boy" but I do love the series. I am not complaining, but HALO 1, 2, & 3 really don't have much continutity in the scripts but they are still excellent compared to the average game's story. HALO 3 by far has the best graphics and gaming experience but the story just doesn't match up well with it's conclusion. I know Bungie stated that HALO was a trilogy but doesn't freezing MC and Cortana in space (homage to the ending of HALO 1) seem extremly shallow based on what the characters had to endure through three gut wrenching bullet fests. I really hope there is a HALO 4 because I honestly hate the ending of HALO 3 (legendary mode) more than I was disappointed by HALO 2's cliff hanger ending.
I know if any red blooded HALO fan reads this I'll get negative marks left, but I don't care. I love the series and want it to continue, but HALO 3's campaign ending stunk. Not only is MC stuck in space again, but SGM Johnson also dies for the second time (forget the great books that try to fill in the gaps, recall the true ending to HALO 1 legendary mode when he dies in a nuke blast). Bungie's series is still some of the greatest games you can own although HALO: Combat Evolved is still the best of the three's campaign offerings.
Awesome game, but probaly not for everyone

Let me say that if you don't have Xbox Live, I wouldn't recommend buying this, since most of the fun is playing Online mostly with friends.
But if you do, this is a must. The campaign is okay, but it is really awesome on Co-Op. Matchmaking is also fun, plus you never know when you might meet a new friend. I've met many friends online through Halo 3. It usually starts with a simple conversation during a match, and its usually Campaign that seals the deal, because, like I said, Campaign is awesome on Co-Op and it gives you time to talk and get to know your new friend. Custom Games and Forge are both really awesome, because in Custom games you can make any game you want, and in Forge, any map you like, as long as you have the time and patience to truely create an awesome map. And the theater is also a great feature. You'd be amazed at how many moments are perfect for a screenshot or video clip.
Now, the gameplay is top notch in my opinion, the weapons are all great and varied, and it won't take long for you to find the perfect weapon. But the chances are, you'll be immediately won over by the Battle Rifle, which is godly weapon in its own right.
Also, since you have shields, it will take a while to take someone down, so skill is necessary, but you will quickly get the hang of it, trust me. If not, then this just isn't your game.
Well, anyways, I gave it a 5 because I really enjoyed it, especially the online which can have endless possiblities to have fun and laughs with friends.

The game was a lot of fun but was a little shorter than I would have liked. Even for an Xbox 360 game, which always seems to have shorter game lengths than other systems I have played. The solo mode is good but the multiplayer is where this game really shines. I recommend it.

HALO 3 rocks if you like the otherrs you will like this
This offer has been confirmed legitimately by respectable sources such as CNN, MSNBC, Fox, Wired and G4. This is absolutely legitimate, follow these steps to get a Xbox360 for free!
The reason these companies make money, is because most people don't bother getting all the referrals. All you have to do is post it on EBAY! They use us as advertisement by word of mouth which saves them tons of money which goes toward yours and my free gift.
There are many well known legitimate offers to choose from such as Blockbuster online, Stamp.com, Netflix, Gamefly which are services you would regularly sign up for anyways and their all secure networks, why not use them to get a free Xbox 360 System or cash (I did the Stamps.com for a 30 day free trial and it never cost me a penny and I received credit for it the same day). Look at the offers and choose the one that works for you. After signing up and completing your one offer, simply refer 5-7 people (depending on the FREE prize you choose) to do the same under your link. Just post the same thing as I have on eBay, and you'll get your referrals before the auction even ends.
Step 1: Click this link

Step 2: Sign up and chose an account type (Referral is the easiest and
best).
Step 3: Complete just 1 free trial offer (like Stamps.com, You will start a trial and can cancel it right after with no charge at all.)
Step 4: Refer to people to do the same. Just do what I'm doing and use eBay.
Step 5: Receive your Xbox360 System for FREE!! (Even The Shipping Is
Free!)

I played Halo more than about any game ever except for maybe Mario Kart and World of Warcraft. It was the culmination of so many things done right, on a next-gen system, and the smoothest gameplay combined with an intriguing story for a FPS.
Halo 3 lives up to the hype, which was massive, and even permeated mainstream media.
Wraps up the Halo plot, but its kind of akin to Matrix 2 and 3, it had to be told, and you had to watch it, but the first one still has a place in your heart. It is a FPS shooter, so the gameplay is what really matters...
And the gameplay is perfect. Smooth, even paced, clean graphics, incredibly gun co-op campaigns and multiplayer.
If you own a 360, get Halo 3, Mass Effect, Bioshock. You will not regret any of them, and play them many times over.

Halo 3 was receiving so much hype that I became afraid that it wasn't going to live up to it. I decided shut my mind off all the hype and just focus on the fact that it was a Halo game. Thankfully this game went above and beyond my expectations. I absolutely think this game is almost as good as the first. It really leaves the player thinking they finished the fight. Although, I never really understood the Halo story much, at least I knew the main idea of the game. Multiplayer has been revamped and is better than ever. It is absolutely fun to play online and is varied enough to keep a person interested. The different online modes allow people with different playing styles to gey what they want. You can play in teams, by yourself, forge, and a few more. The only thing that could have made Halo 3 better was to make it longer and have a different ending (as it resembles Halo's ending too much).
Halo 3, a little short, but a great game

I have loved Halo from the beginning. It was the main reason I bought an xbox. Halo 3 is great. There are more weapons. You can now rip off the turrets and carry them around. The AI is much smarter and the enemy is much harder. Multiplayer really shines through on this one, especially since you can now design your own levels and really make your character unique with different types of armor that you unlock as you progress through the game. Story mode is VERY short. I believe there are only nine levels and they go by pretty fast. The last level ends the same way as it does on the first game. Graphics are so much better, especially in HD. The theater option is great, especially in multiplayer where you can watch your favorite kills over and over. And you can view matches and story play from any angle. Co-op is also fun, with the second player being the Arbiter. In single play the Arbiter is with you most of the game and, by the way, he never gets killed. That doesn't mean that you can just sit back and let him take out all the covenant, but if your shields are drained then you can duck down and he can provide a little bit of cover while you recharge. Last note, there is an extended ending when you beat it on legendary.
