What a Jump!

Wow! A Zelda on a 16 bit system? That's what I said at first when I found out that a new game in the series was coming to the SNES, and what a surprise it was! Those of us who have been with Link since the old school days of "The Legend of Zelda" really appreciated this one when it came out. The graphics were intense the plot was deep, and there were so many new things to find. A person could immerse themselves in this game for hours and even days on end without stopping to eat, sleep, or use the bathroom (yes that was me, well almost). I remeber the countless hours I spent finding heart containers, weapons, and other things in this game, along with all of the good memories that it brought as well. The dungeons seemed immense and endless with the multiple floors that were introduced in this game, and continued throughout the series. I highly recommend this game, and as with everyone else that fell in love with the Zelda series this game is one of my most prized games and I will hold in my collection as long as I live.

The Greatest Zelda Game

I am a big fan of the Zelda Series, I own every game. One game that stands out from them all is The Link to the Past. Everything is perfect in this game, the Story, the Music and Sound, the cartoonish graphics and the play control.

In the Link to the Past you must travel across Hyrule and the Darkworld, going through dungeons solving puzzles, collecting items and weapons and most of all defeating Ganon.

If you are a fan of Zelda and you own a SNES, you should buy this game right now!!!!!

Best Zelda Game

This IS certainly the best Zelda game. The graphics are how they should be in any game like that. Well, OoT/MM/WW graphics' were very good (especialy WW with cartoon-like graphics), but ALttP graphs are better. Theres a LOT of dungeons (= lot of fun)
1 : Hyrule Castle (part 1)
2 : 1st pendant
3 : 2nd pendant
4 : 3rd pendant
5 : Hyrule Castle (part 2)
6 : Stones temple
7 : Water temple
8 : Forest temple
9 : Shadow temple
10 : Ice temple
11 : Sand temple
12 : Mountain temple
13 : Ganon Tower

the music is very good, maybe a little bit repetitive but it fits very good with the game (and it sticks in the head)

One Of The Best Ever

My favorite thing about the Zelda games is they take so darn long to finish. In this way, playing a good video game is like reading a good book. It takes a long time, but it's worth it. This game tells a great story, and it really immerses you into another universe. You're placed in a different world with different limits, and it's like you live a whole other life in a few months (or days, if you're a hardcore gamer). You follow Link through trials and tribulations on the quest of a lifetime, and fighting them ugly video game monsters is a nice way to have a bit of fun after a long day.

Since the old school days- True fans only!

Those of us that have been with Link since the beginning can recognize what a brilliant game this is. Comparing the Legend of Zelda with Final Fantasy is insane. Link has been around since the blurred techno-color graphics of the original NES. "The Legend of Zelda" has become somewhat of a household name- whether you've played it or not, you've surely heard of it. And we, the proud and true fans of the Zelda series, those of us that sat on our ... for hours on end when that first game came out, glued to the screen of our now out of date televisions, drooled when SNES came out with its latest edition, morphed to expand the ever evolving storyline for the new platform. Even compared to the N64 OoT and MM, this game shines above the rest. The Legend of Zelda was the defining moment in the emerging realm of RPG's for standalone platforms- all the others, including Final Fantasy merely wafted in the shadows, followed, duplicated, and mutated until they were different and fully grown to survive on their own. Tride and true roleplayers aren't there for the graphics. They're there for the story, the history, and the game's ability to suck you in. I've found no other roleplaying game that comes close to this one.

Those of us that have been there since the beginning bow down our heads in modest recognition. Zelda Rules.

The Best Game ever for SNES!!!!

I simply can't say enough about this game. The superior gameplay and storyline are the best features. While many other Zelda games have been released for other systems, this game is still the best one to me. When I first got SNES, I thought the graphics on the games I had were terrible. But, then I was introduced to Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past. 20 minutes later, I was hooked, and until I got the game as a Christmas present, I rented it whenever possible. With more than 7 dungeons to explore and many more forests and towns, A Link To The Past is the best SNES game ever. Play it once, and you'll know why.

Sooo Cool

This game is so cool. It's a really cool RPG. It's about a young boy who one night has a wierd dream where the princess is telling him to go to the palace,go to the dungeon and rescue her. The person who put her there was the power hungry GanonDorf who killed her father and is going to send her into anouther dimension called The Dark World (Formally the golden land where the Triforce was.). The young boy's mission is to save the princess Zelda, take the Triforce from the evil GanonDorf and restore peace to the Kingdom of Hyrule.

What a friggin game!

This is one of my all time favorites. Next to Super Metroid, All Grand Theft Auto, and Super Ghouls and Ghosts...this is the best game ever! My only complaints is that it ends to soon! Every year I bust this game and and beat it. If you don't like Zelda...then you're either some kind of tribal person that has no access to electricity...which is cool. Or a lame republican that despises epic themes in anything other than making mass amounts of revinue....which is sucky.

One of the all time masterpieces of Gaming

I bought this game way back in 92 when it first came out. it seems incredible now but at the time I was blown away by the graphics; the rain/fogging/lantern and shading effects might seem unimpressive now; but for someone who was fresh from 8 bit gaming it seemed incredible.

The game itself had a compelling story line, mind boggling puzzles to solve; two seemingly vast worlds to explore and a suprisingly non-linear development. The bosses are still great fun to beat but suffer from the age old Zelda problem of being a bit too easy once you've sussed out their strategy.

As for replay value, I am still playing the game now and I still think it looks great. I always wished that there had been another game made on the snes with this engine and I'm hoping given the recent GBA update of Mario Kart we'll see a sequel to Link to the Past worthy of the name.

Worth buying a snes for even in 2001!!

Buy this game!

I don't think I can top anyone else's review here, they all say it like it is, this is a great game and playing it is a great way to spend your time. Probably the best game ever made for Super Nintendo. If you are looking for a game that you will not get bored with on Super Nintendo, this is it.
