This was the game that made me realize how much the creators of most other video games slack off. The world of Chrono Trigger starts off just as big as Super Mario World, and then you start you time-travel into 4 other different versions of that world. It takes nearly 12 hours from start to finish, but I've spent more trying to witness all 13 different endings.

The greatest RPG and one of the best games ever created

This game is just amazing. This price is outrageous but just get it used if you don't wanna fork over 80 dollars.

Storyline:
A very catchy storyline, it was a very ORIGINAL storyline. Not many games now have the same captivating storyline as this. If your one of those people who look for a great storyline then this is possibly the game your looking for.
4.5/5

Graphics:
Graphics in this game are good. They might be in 2D but i don't care the games graphics still look good even when you just finished playing something like the x-box or gamecube or ps2 or even the dreamcast the graphics still look good unless you hate 2D graphics.
4/5

Sound:
The sound was alright, it kinda got you in the mood of the game but it could've been better.
3.5/5

Gameplay:
Good gameplay is displayed here. Every game needs good gameplay and this game shows that good gameplay every game needs. The battles may be a little easy for some but after awhile it does get challenging.
4.5/5

Your probably wondering why i gave it a 5 star rating. Well quite simply put this was the best rpg and every game isn't perfect but this game is near close. a must-own if you still have a Super NES.

To anyone with a SNES, and free time: buy this game. I have played nearly every RPG that has hit the market whether by renting, borrowing or purchasing. Nothing on the PSX, N64 or any other system comes close. Deep, intricate story line, wonderfully written dialogue and music you'll be tapping your feet too are just a few aspects of a fantastic way to spend a rainy day. The graphics are actually pretty decent for a game made in 1995. I first played this game in the fifth grade, and I still find myself talking about it, and discovering new secrets and plot twists.... I could write more, but I'm limited. Buy this game!

Quite simply the most epic, engaging game of all time. With a rousing soundtrack, huge story, and the best battle system I've seen to date, Chrono Trigger is best game I have seen to date. It is one of those opportunities you cannot let pass by.

Just because you've played Final Fantasy VII(Playstation) or The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion(Xbox 360,Playstation 3, PC), that doesn't make you a true RPG gamer until you play Chrono Trigger. I like this game better than Final Fantasy II, III, and Mystic Quest on my SNES simply because it plays better, it's more accessible to the RPG-impared, and there aren't very many random encounters. I never figured this game would end up being #1 on my top ten favorite games list(especially since it's surrounded by shooters, and loads of other genres that don't include the RPG genre), but somehow won over me and I grew to love this game with a passion because it's so f***ing amazing. I have never experienced a game this epic before in my life, which is another reason why you must buy this game(Either for SNES or PS1). And like the fans of Final Fantasy VII demanding a remake of the game for PS3 and 360, Chrono fans demand a remake of the series for the same platforms(With maybe the possibility of releasing Chrono Break). Come on Square Enix, what the hell are you waiting for ?!

The best game I have ever played.

I would consider myself a huge video game buff. I play all kinds of games, from RPGs to first person shooters, and sports and strategy games. I have loved games like Medal of Honor, Starcraft, and many of the Final Fantasies; however I truly believe of all these video games, Chrono Trigger is number one. It's innovative gameplay combined with a great storyline make for a truly amazing gaming experience. I highly recommend this game to anyone, especailly Final Fantasy fans. This is truly the best game I have ever played.

Seriously considered the best RPG of all time.

Before I found out about this game I was into the Final Fantasy series. FFVII was my first and I was hooked. I liked FFVIII and FFIX. And then I went back to FFV & FFVI on Anthology and knew why people held FFVI in such high esteem. But when I got FFChronicles I thought I would play FFIV and skip Chrono Trigger because it wasn't apart of the series. I'm glad I wasn't that stupid. This game surpassed all my expectations and I soon fell in love with it. Based on my judgement from playing most of the FF Series- This game surpasses the whole series. Seriously! Graphics never kept me hooked to a game. I look for plot and character development (and good gameplay ain't bad either): and this game had it in top-notch form. Because of this game I realized there are other good RPG's outside of the Final Fantasy Series. Thanks to this game I've found out about Lunar: The Silver Star Story which is probably the funniest game in RPG history. Thank you Chrono Trigger!

It's about time

There are many who feel that Chrono Trigger is the greatest game ever made. Certainly it is one of the greatest RPGs ever made, in my own experience equaled only perhaps by Final Fantasy VII (never did care for any other Final Fantasy games). It's a rolicking-good-time for fans of adventure and sci-fi, and as RPGs go a whole lot of fun. More than that, the genius of its design and brilliance of its story is not debatable. It's legendary. Even better, it makes for a game that's fun!

When I first started the game I was wondering exactly how the game would make me feel. I like the deep story of RPGs, but hate dungeon crawling, random battles, and that very irritating feeling of having absolutely no idea where to go next to get the story moving again. I need not have feared, though. Chrono trigger has no random battles, it's castles and dungeons are brief not every-lasting, and thankfully, you will always know where to go next.

The story starts with you in your village on the day of the millenial fair, and you quickly meet a girl there and (using your friend's new teleportation machine) find the girl gone and yourself back in time trying to rescue a queen who has been kidnapped (and who your friend has been mistaken for because {surprise, surprise} she is the crown princess and the descent of that queen. You have some adventures come back to your time, get put on trial for kidnapping the princess, and see one of the greatest scenes in any videogame ever, as all your actions in the first hour of the game are played back as evidence against or for you. Eventually you get out of that situation (one way or another) and find yourself again traveling through time, only to find that the world was destroyed by a monster far in the future, unless you can stop it...

The prologue is awesome but the main story of the game is really amazing. You have all the classic trapping of a great legend, from a hero turned into an animal, to an ancient sword that has to be reforged, to a princess and an unlikely hero out to save the world. That's enough to make a good game. What propels Chrono Trigger into greatness is the power the story is given by the strength of the characters and writing, and absolutely fantastic presentation and gameplay. The game is loaded with humor character, from the little girl accusing you of not rescuing her cat at the trial, to a tiny furry creature who is the master magician (and keeps popping up in different times doing everything from hiking on the mountain of monsters to playing rag-time on the piano in an inn), from the goblins who wonder why you just popped out of a time portal in their closet to the Frog who talks in noble Shakesparian and the cute robot you find in the future. There were so many times when I played this game and felt real joy in the moments it presented. When I first discovered the robot in the future and his theme played, I felt attached to him instantly (he's so cuuuute), and when the hero frog leapt off saying he had failed to protect the queen, I felt so bad for him (he was really handy with sword and saved by bacon). That's the kind of thing that gets to you. I haven't felt that way about an RPG since Xenosaga's Cyborg said "Call me Ziggy", and Final Fantasy VII had girls asking a certain brooding hero whether he remembered his promise or would be their bodyguard.

It cannot be overstated how much the lack of random battles, and the constant boss battles (which you will almost always win) increase the amount of fun you have with this game. The excellent battle system which highly encourages teamwork amoung your party keeps you constantly on your toes and nervous that you could lose the battle, and never gets tedious or frustrating. The graphics may be old-school, but that about as good sprite-based graphics get. The music is very atmospheric and catchy, and the main themes are just beautiful. The story twists and turns, and how you play can determine the way certain events unfold (the game has more than one ending and you can even play past the "end"). But above all, the story and characters are just impossible not to love if you like a good story. If you like RPGs and don't mind if they're a little old, you will LOVE this game.
