When I first played this game years and years ago, it never dawned on me that I would be playing an RPG legend. This game should be the cornerstone for all future RPG's and stories for books alike. There is not one flaw I can find in the gameplay, graphics (for its time), music, or story. The music gives me a great feeling, and always reminds me of my first experience with this game, sending chills of nostaglia through me. I can't even describe my entire feelings for the game, because the gameplay has been integrated into me. The characters have found a place in my heart and the story is in me now. I have beaten the game 200+ times, maxed out my characters, and as far as I know, gotten every item, game ending, and weapon in the game. Thank you Squaresoft, for making the greatest game of all time...

KING OF ALL RPGS! ... So, why did they cancel chrono trigger ressurection?!?!?!?!

This game is undoubtly the best rpg ever. I wont explain all the details about how great this game is because you probably already heard everything about it on all the other reviews. Anyways, my friend first had this game, so i played it at his house. It was so awsome i just couldnt stop! i beat it twice already and still love to play this game! it has the perfect gameplay, difficulty, length, graphics, sound, ect ect the gameplay just plain rocks! it's just hard enough so you wont get bored over how easy it is and its not too difficult to where you want to just destroy it. its not too long and not too short. And the sound effects and music are the best out of all the other games ive played so far!

Anyways, about Chrono Trigger Ressurection. It was supposed to be the new game thats was coming out to gamecube/ ps2/ xbox (i dont excactly know what system it was going to, but i knew it was 1 of them)It was Chrono Trigger only in 3D GRAPHICS!! I was going to buy that game the day it came out! Just imagine, Chrono Trigger in 3D! I looked at the pictures for it and they were incredible! But... one day... I looked on the internet again and found out they dicontinued it!!!!! I was so upset! WHY?! WHY DID THEY DISCONTINUE THE GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME?!?!?!?!?! DO THEY REALIZE HOW MUCH MONEY WAS WATED?! I SEE 100 REVIEWS ON THIS WEBSITE AND SO FAR IVE ONLY SEEN 1 ok and 2 bad! MAN! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THEM?1?!?!?!? if you dont believe me you can look on the internet right now and look for "Chrono Trigger Ressurection" and you will be able to go to the website, or the page that tells about them discontinuing it. I seriously want to know the reason why they did, that wouldve been the ultimate game ever created.

incredible in every way...

Squaresoft has released three great games in its history: Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII, and Chrono Trigger. Of the three, this title falls somewhere in the middle. Overall it simply lacks the incredible story depth and character development of FFVI but it does have several strong points that make it easily one of the best video games of all time.

While the story is the most important part of a game in this genre, the graphics are the true standout here, perhaps the best of the SNES era. The battle effects and enemy animations are nothing short of incredible for the console. Square did an amazing job of developing lush environments that make the experience unforgettable. The music is also very strong, particularly later in the course of the game. The battle system is modified (with good results) quite a bit from the FF series--characters can combine abilities in battle and random enemy encounters are eliminated. Chrono Trigger has a great and imaginitve storyline, combined with the best graphics and sound the SNES has to offer (even if they are highly primitive by today's standards). The result is a true masterpiece.

This game lacks nothing and is another one of those magical SNES titles that all gamers today should go back and experience whether it be again or for the first time. Chrono Trigger is a masterpiece and it's extremely unlikely that a game of its caliber will ever be released again.

This is the king of all RPGs, baby. It was here before FFVII, VIII, IX, or X. It came before Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. This game is AMAZING!!! As Crono, a young teen who lives in the year AD 1000, you venture with your friends across time to save the future that is meant to be. After accidentally sending Marle, your newest friend, back in time to AD 600, you and your best friend Lucca go after her. When you return, you are put on trial for treason, but after you escape, you find a new portal and go to the future, circa AD 2300, which has become a desolate wasteland thanks to a creature called Lavos. You vow to save the planet's future, even if you will never live to see it. Along the way, you team up with Robo from the future, Ayla, from 65 million BC, and Frog, from AD 600. There is also a wizard named Magus who you fight in 600, but then you meet him again in 12,000 BC and are given the option to have him join you, which I highly suggest.
This game has tons of spells, especially since you can combine turns to perform double, and even triple, spells. The side quests are great too, and you should do them all if you want to get each character's ultimate weapon.
If you've never played this game before, do yourself a favor and play it, because this is one of the greatest RPGs ever!

Great Game, but can get it cheaper.

I must say Chrono Trigger is one of the greatest RPGs ever. I didnt even get into RPGs until Chrono Trigger came out. One thing that baffles me though is why people consider this game a rare find and sell it for way too much for a SNES game for these days. Under Game Review Mag and Nintedo Magazine, its considered a "common" game to find. I found the game at a local nostalgia game store for $8. But with that, if for some reason you cant find it outside of online for a cheap buy, you might as well on here because it is recommended as a great game for any price/

Be prepared for the Final Fantasy Chronicles

This is a great game, possibly the best RPG ever. But it was a victum of poor timing, it was released just a year before the Playstation and N64 burst on to the scene, yet even though it is a SNES game it is one of the best games ever. And Square realized this and a few years ago re-released this game for the Playstation in Japan, and later this year it is coming to america in a package called the Final Fantasy Chronicles. It will be packaged with Final Fantasy 4. Both of them are being refubished with new video clips and better translations like in the Final Fantasy Anthology, the ones for Chrono Trigger are truley amazing they are all Anime, my only problem is that Chrono (the main character) looks overly buff in the video clip. Don't go crazy looking for this game on SNES, wait a few months for the Chronicles, it's going to be great.

A unique piece of RPG masterwork!

(...)This game is about a young boy named Crono, who accidently gets transported to the past by a "telepod," but ends up saving the world alongside his quite diverse friends Lucca, Marle (Princess Nadia), a frog, a robot, a primitive woman called Ayla and if you choose to, a wizard called Magus. On one of their trips to the "bleak" future of the world, they discover a major catastrophe had struck the world 301 years earlier (in 1999!). In order to right the wrongs, they have to travel through the various time periods and tackle any evils they encounter, which would ultimately result in saving the future of the world.

This is a quality game by any standard. Both the visuals and music are outstanding. One area where the graphics are considered lacking is the overworld map screens, though it doesn't show much at all. In fact, I didn't even notice it till I read it somewhere! Music-wise the game has a number of catchy melodies (I enjoyed the themes of Frog and Robo and the music of Denadoro Mountains). They may grow on you. The sound effects are quite fitting and the game controls are very fluid.

The biggest improvement compared to other RPGs of its day is probably the battle system. Unlike most RPGs, you can choose either turn-based or "active" anywhere in the game. There are plenty of options to fiddle with too, just to pass time. A new feature is the "New Game +." This appears after the game is completed once and it let's you keep your equipment and status from your completed game on your new adventure! This feature was probably added to make things much easier in getting the ten plus possible endings! Another big improvement is the way you use magic. Your characters can "combine" their magic either in "duel tech" or "triple tech" to cause major damage! Some techs can also be accessed by getting hold of certain items...It's a nice touch. RPG fans craving for boss fights will get plenty of 'em in this game. Unfortunately, they only really provide a solid challenge till you beat the game for the first time. Once you choose "New Game +," you can virtually "toy around" with them (except the end boss). As with all good RPGs, there are immense amounts of weapon, armour and head-wear updates too.

For those of you who still have a SNES, I can't think of a better RPG you could play. If you haven't made a next-generation system commitment yet and are looking for more classic games then this MUST be in your collection. Even if you aren't into RPGs, I suggest giving it a try. Those with Playstations can also enjoy the re-release of this game on their system. Whatever the case, it's a quality RPG that will manage to please even the most avid RPG critic.

If you're thinking that this game has bad graphics, and looks like a horrible game to try. You're dead wrong. Chrono Trigger has become a classic in the hearts of all die hard RPG fans. Some even say it beats Final Fantasy VII and VI, which is quite a statement. If you've seen the graphics you're problably thinking that it's a poorly designed game. Well for a super nintendo game, the graphics are spectacular, better than that. They're great. The thing about Chrono Trigger that will impact you the most is the story. Chrono Trigger's story confused me so much that I played the game over for at least 3 more times until I finally understood. Chrono Trigger is a story of a hopeless future, a future of nothing but destruction and desecration. It tells of Lavos, an entity of another universe. An entity that will be the doom of the planet unless stopped. But to stop it, a teenage boy must travel through past, present, and future to uncover the truth about the disaster, and to erase it forever in time. The downside of this masterpiece is probably the gameplay. The character must wait for his status bar to fill, then attack with the selected move. It's not all that innovative. I understand that it's only super NES, but still. Chrono Trigger has a certain something to it. If you're looking at it's price, you're probably thinking that it's way too much. Believe me, once you play it you would spend as much money as it took to get it. If you are looking for the origional cartridge, have fun trying to find it. ... In the end Chrono Trigger outbeats everything you know and everything you love and it will give a whole new perspective on RPG's in this modern era.

The Legend, The Classic, The Adventure...

Square, the makers of the acclaimed Final Fantasy series, set out to make another RPG. Hinorobu Sakaguchi (Final Fantasy's creator), Yuji Horii (Dragonwarrior), and Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball Z) teamed up to create an RPG rich in every department. They succeeded, and thus, the world came to know Chrono Trigger, a classic RPG and my favorite RPG for the Super NES. Why, you ask? You will soon learn, my child:

THE GOOD
This kept many of the classic elements that an RPG usually has. What made this unique at the time were the dual/triple attacks that the characters utilized (and there were MANY of them, and the list changed with the lineup). The characters were all rich in personality and added a flavor to the storyline. The storyline itself is one of the best adventure sagas ever written by the teams at Squaresoft. The graphics? They were state-of-the-art at the time and the different special attacks had some very neat effects (Luminaire looked better here than in Chrono Cross!). The art (by Akira Toriyama, who has a "cameo" for one of the endings) is excellent and should please any anime fan, especially the DBZ fanatics out there. And who can forget the music?? Great soundtrack; Yasunori Mitsuda and Nobuo Uematsu should be praised.

THE BAD
Say ANYTHING bad about this game usually causes fatality. I suggest you consult a physician before dissing on this game.

OVERALL
CLASSIC. I can't name ONE thing wrong about this game. I can't imagine who would hate this game. It's one of the best adventures of its kind and it's hard to top. Maybe not the best RPG ever made, but it's my favorite for the Super Nintendo, with Breath of Fire 2 in a close second. Fans, if you find this game anywhere, I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU BUY IT. If you don't, that just means more copies for me.
