This game was made for super nintendo. It is at a huge disadvantage because it is platformed from a inferior gaming system, yet i still have the balls to call it the greatest rpg ever. If you can find it buy it!

RPG lovers, feast your eyes on this classic game!

Okay, that's it. I've come to find out through experience that I love RPG games and Squaresoft is the best video game company. I love Final Fantasy and Secret of Mana too! All of them and these games have touched me enough to interest me in becoming a game programmer with Squaresoft when I'm older. But that's just me, and enough about me. This Astounding RPG has music that will keep you humming it 3 years later after you've played the game and wanting to get the game back by finding it on the Internet at 11 PM in the night. This game takes you to a group of kids, perhaps teenagers that live in a small town. One of them is a geek genius. They visit a local town-square like place. All the little mini games and things you can find there are fun! The main character gets sucked into another time, because of a machine and these two pendants. It seems to be the same place when you get on to the world map, except not exactly modern style. There is a castle you can visit and it goes on from there. I haven't thoroughly played the whole game but I've gotten pretty far into the game and I don't want to spoil some of the events I've been through already. Unlike other games, RPGS have different walkthroughs and the way Squaresoft designs it, make you want to find every little potion and item in the game. There are so many different possibilities with RPGS, they are so complex. That's what I love about them and Chrono Trigger is only one of them. I truly and really hope you get this game even if you are not an RPG lover. There are funny parts, romantic, and sad parts. You actually get into the game, and feel the emotions the characters are going through. If you are not an RPG lover, you can at least see if you truly are and can become one by playing this game. It is like a movie before your eyes, except you can control and edit every shot and frame. I would love for you to tell me your ideas on RPGS and your thoughts. I love Final Fantasy ( ALL OF THEM ) as well. I really want to meet someone who loves RPGS as much as I do. BUY THIS GAME!!! I am not advertising. I just truly think this game will change the way you think about the world. The only bad thing about RPGS is that the first night you get it, you play it for a million hours and well, you're practically halfway through the game. And you don't want to do that. You should savor every bit of the game like a piece of candy. Chrono Trigger is a game that even if you finish playing it, you'll want to play it over, and over, and over, and over.....

Be prepared for the Final Fantasy Chronicles

This is a great game, possibly the best RPG ever. But it was a victum of poor timing, it was released just a year before the Playstation and N64 burst on to the scene, yet even though it is a SNES game it is one of the best games ever. And Square realized this and a few years ago re-released this game for the Playstation in Japan, and later this year it is coming to america in a package called the Final Fantasy Chronicles. It will be packaged with Final Fantasy 4. Both of them are being refubished with new video clips and better translations like in the Final Fantasy Anthology, the ones for Chrono Trigger are truley amazing they are all Anime, my only problem is that Chrono (the main character) looks overly buff in the video clip. Don't go crazy looking for this game on SNES, wait a few months for the Chronicles, it's going to be great.

ALMOST PERFECT

To many, Chrono Trigger is the best RPG ever made. I'd say it's as good as Final Fantasy 6 or 7, but not better. Although I rate it 5 stars, 4.5 stars is closer to it. It all has to do with the final ending boss--Lavos--and his three forms. In my opinion, Lavos is right up there with Kefka and Sephiroth, but Lavos isn't human, so that makes him the best non-human antagonist ever seen in a game. Lavos first appears as a porcupine-like creature. His eerie scream is as good as Kefka's laugh, too. After defeating the Lavos shell, you go inside and fight the machine part of Lavos. Looks okay, but not great. You beat that, then fight the last version of Lavos--the vegetable-looking version. He doesn't look evil, nor does he look good. So it's awful hard to hate him. The background effect is okay, but sorta annoying, and the music at that point is bland. But that's the only problem that I have with the game--the final ending boss. Everything preceding that is top-notch Squaresoft. The storyline is really great on this game. My favorite parts are: Chrono's Trial (as good as the opera scene in FF6), the Future (especially the bike race against that Prince-like guy), the Battle against Magus in his castle is especially awesome because the music fits in so PERFECTLY with the battle. The little movie scene showing Lavos falling to earth is also a joy to see. There are ten endings to this game and many sidequests. Tough luck finding a good copy of it now, but you can get it on emulator, which is almost as good.

This is defenatly the best Rpg ever made, even beter than the Final Fantasy Series. Altough it lacks in Graphics compared to wahat we got today it has a very rich and thick Storyline. I played and beat this game 58 times in one year and it never gets boring. This game has nice Music but not as quality like as the newer Square Games. SOOOOOOOO!!!!

BUY THIS GAME!!!BUY THIS GAME!!!

If you dont like this game you are out of your mind!!!!

Best RPG ever made.

The title says it all. This game shows everything that an RPG should be. Great plot, with all the events that make the story touching, without resorting to the contrived death of a character to do it (FF7). The characters are all good and likeable, unlike Cloud Strife and Squall Leonheart (I hate this "I don't care" attitude prevalent in Squaresoft's heroes lately). Also, some of these characters are VERY original, namely Frog, Robo, Ayla, and even Lucca. Even Magus gains your respect by the time all is said and done. There is excellent music, some of the best the Super Nintendo has ever seen. The graphics and such are wonderful for the SNES. The gameplay is fun and innovative, with features never seen before, or at least never executed this well:

--A battle system focusing on teamwork between characters, having them combine their techniques for awesome effects.

--Complete removal of all random battles.

--A plot that is just right: Linear enough to keep the story moving along nicely, yet with enough side quests and variations to create many multiple endings. Endings can be affected by everything from which side quests you chose to whether or not you went home and fed the cat.

--New game + option. You don't have to start all over from scratch to try out all the different endings.

There are many things besides these, entirely too many to list in a single review. This is by far the best RPG ever made, second to none.

THE BEST RPG- ..., THE BEST GAME!!!

First my dad rented Chrono Trigger from a store. I played it for every day till it was due. When it was due, I told my dad I want this game. So, he got it for one of my birthday's, I don't remember which one it was, I just remember I got it for my birthday. I haven't finish the game, because my dad doesn't have the super nintendo hooked up, but I'm far in it. It is the best rpg game ever, I think. I think you should find this game and buy it.

The greatest RPG ever made in existence

Okay, before FFC (Final Fantasy Chronicles) I played this game as the original SNES version. But I never really bought it. This is the third RPG I've ever played. (Super Mario RPG and Secret of Mana were the first two) The story was how should I say this? THE BEST RPG STORY I'VE EVER HAD THE PLEASURE OF PLAYING THROUGH! Okay, most of you are used to FFVII now that the playstation has come around. But before Final Fantasy VII, there was Chrono Trigger, the greatest RPG ever made to grace the gaming world today. Even its sequal Chrono Cross doesn't have as good a story. Even Lunar Silver Star Story Comeplete (which is said to have the greatest story ever!) doesn't have as good a story.

The characters are much more unique than in Final Fantasy. (They actually care for the planets future, even if it won't effect them.) Sorry to say that I'm getting tired of the Final Fantasy leaders not giving a care in the world for anything until the end of the game. From Crono to Magus, the characters shine with an Aura so powerful, they leave you even crying at times! The good news is that no character dies like in FFVII just to make you feel emotional, and there is no love story like in FFVIII to make you feel emotional.

The music is just as good (if not better) as FFVI(III in the US.) The best the SNES has ever had. Any RPGer will be delighted by this game.

The characters even have to work together in battle. With Dual Techs and Triple Techs, this is way better than Chrono Cross. When I first played this, I begged for a sequal, or at least make this another Final Fantasy Series. The game was awesome!

Any RPGer who thinks this has a bad story or plot, doesn't know the meaning of adventure and story! In fact if someone hated this story, I'd be insulted!

You go thorugh time travel, and witness the Day of Lavos. Even though that day is in 1999, and they live in 1000 AD, in 2300 they stumble upon this. Even if it doesn't effect their time, they realized that they couldn't turn thier backs on the planet.

A MUST HAVE RPG!

One of the best old school RPGs

Honestly I didn't by Chrono Trigger, but I did by Final Fantasy Chronicles, two snes RPGs(Chrono Trigger and FFIV)for the PS1. Well anyway the game is tight!I'm not going to give away the WHOLE plot, but basicly you play as Crono, and you meet Marle at the fair then Crono's Inventor friend,Lucca's expiriment backfires and you go back in time and OH I'v said to much!
