I'm one of the many who got the game for Christmas & have been playing daily since. I doubt most people would be able to finish the game in 3-5 days as others have boasted, because many levels are challenging even on "easy" difficulty. The ESRB rating is accurate about this not being a child's play. My wife and I enjoy the coop mode and it has proven slightly easier than trying to hack through the game solo. Our biggest complaint is that the intro & cut scenes can't be skipped, which is annoying when missions are failed and restarted. The characters and scenes closely follow the movies, but there are various liberties with the plot scattered throughout. Overall the game is adventurous and entertaining.

Return to Middle-earth in this third installment of LOTR

This game was awesome and it has become one of my favorite games. I rented it for 5 days and beat most of it. The details are awesome and I felt like I was next to Sam when he was trying to free Frodoin Shelob's Lair and in the action of the Paths of the Dead with Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli. My only regret is that some levels are too hard even with easy, yet after several tries, you beat it. This is only a minor flaw and still deserves the 5 stars.

EA should take the Cinematic cameras in Return of the King, and shove them up their ???. They only succeed in hindering game play. This is purely a 'reflex' fighting game, with strategy thrown out the window. Nothing more.

Forget the so-called 'Combos' and special moves... they are not only frustrating to use, but totally worthless in combat.

The only reason I award it the score I did was for the excellent graphics, soundtrack and cinematics. The rest of the game is worthless.

Fortunately for me, I bought the game as a 'pre-owned' title at a local store, at a drastically discounted price. I'm sure glad I didn't buy it new at full price.

Save your money for The Third Age.
