So fun!

This game is very fun. I bought the Japanese version the day it came out and I have played it a ton. I must say that it goes by very quickly, as I finished the game 5 days after it came out. Overall, this game is great. I reccomend it if you like Kirby games, and I think that this is the best one yet!

The 2nd MUST-HAVE for the Nintendo DS

I say the second must-have because Mario64 DS is the 1st.This game is incredibly fun to control and play. The way the game works is by using the stylus to help Kirby (who has transformed into a ball) maneuver throughout the world by creating bridges, walls, and even loop-de-loops for him. Of course this wouldn't be a Kirby game without the ability to copy enemy moves. Kirby (once defeating certain enemies) can take their special ability and use them to his advantage. There are tons of enemy moves to get that will help you reach certain places or defeat certain enemies easier. This game has it all, beautiful, colorful grapics, an enjoyable soundtrack, and very intuitive, interactive controls. You'd never realize how much fun can be had without using ANY buttons. Great Job Nintendo/HAL Laboratory. If you own a Nintendo DS, GET THIS GAME.

The game Touch and Go should have been

This game actually controls similarly to Yoshi's Touch and Go (for those familiar) in some respects. That game even has a few touches that would be nice in this one (the ability to blow away clouds/rainbows if you mess up rather than waiting for them to disappear). However, while Yoshi's Touch and Go never rises above an excellent control concept wrapped in a mediocre package, Kirby Canvas Curse takes an equally excellent play engine and goes above and beyond in presentation and innovation. While the story isn't exactly brilliant (Kirby follows a nondescript witch into a "weird" vortex where he becomes a ball inside a living painting), this game actually has clever levels and nifty bosses, lots to discover and go back for, and plenty of crafty surprises around every corner. The design team did a truly great job taking its established "laws" of play and bending them in each level in a way that never fails to entertain. Rather than go into minutea, suffice it to say that everything, from the map screen, to the "physics," to the music- all of it- is well designed and implemented. Rising from a dirth of quality DS titles, Kirby Canvas Curse stands out as a must play. It's an experience you won't find anywhere else.

This is such an awesome game i spent countless hours with my friend Clask Boichkenrick and after that we spent hours playing hide and go seek. Then we did the tango. Then we played this game again. It was so fun. To bad my DS got swept away by the waves on the beach! I don't know how the Pacific Ocean got to Iowa, but you know, these things happen! My brother had a seizure from this game because of all of it's shiny lights and such! THEY SHOULD PUT THESE THINGS ON THE BOX OR SOMTHING! But over all it is a very good game pastimer thingy.

the must have ds game but not better then mario!

A Pink Ball of Fun

If you've played Yoshi Touch & Go for the Nintendo DS then you already have a basic idea of what this Kirby game is like. Kirby will roll automatically, it's up to you to control his movements by touching him and drawing rainbow paths for him to cross.

It will take agility and quick reflexes to safely guide Kirby through all the dangers that await ahead. Younger and inexpereinced gamers might be vexed by the multiple strategies and different ways of control. For example, you can just touch Kirby to make him roll with high speed and knock out enemies, or you can touch the enemy to stun him and then once Kirby hits him he will be taken out.

Multiple unlockable mini-games give you reason to keep on playing once all the levels have been beaten. They range from the tried and true time trail to a memory game where you have to connect the dots in the correct order. These mini games are fun and I must confess I've had more fun with them than the main adventure.

There's no doubt that the touch controls give Kirby a whole new level of interactivity, but make no mistake, this is your standard collect stars-destroy enemies-find hidden items-defeat boss-repeat, type game. If you're a long-time gamer from the 80's like me then you may find the control mechanics aren't enough to hold your interest in this type of game. I've simply played too many of them. Kirby is a stong, polished title but not nearly as innovative with its gameplay as it is with it's control.

The DS's killer app

This is the best game on the DS. Amazing games like this can't be done on the other gaming (and I use that term loosely) system.

The gameplay is very amazing. The graphics are top notch. This should last you about 20-30 hours, which is great.

At Last, A Kirby Game For Nintendo DS!!!

I don't know why I like Kirby games as well as I do. Maybe it's all the extras to unlock, or maybe it's the free-roaming go-wherever-you-want-whenever-you-feel-like-it gameplay. Then again, maybe it's just the fun of defeating baddies with a little pink blob. Whatever the case, the name Kirby in a game's title causes me to expect a lot from the game. And Kirby has yet to dissapoint me. Kirby's DS debut is refreshingly different from his GameBoy titles, but retains the same uniquely Kirby feel. Here's a category-by-category rating:

Controls: 5 stars. The touch screen is all you use. Kirby has been turned into a ball, and automatically moves forward and reverses whenever he hits a wall. Draw paths to direct him, jumps to [duh] make him jump, and walls to protect him from enemies. Touch him to get a burst of speed or use a Copy ability.

Music/Sound Effects: 5 stars. Great songs and classic sound effects create that Kirby atmosphere, and the Sound Test feature, a traditional Kirby extra, lets you listen to them to your heart's content, once you unlock them. I don't know why, but I love the sound it makes when Kirby goes in and out of the transporter-tube thingies.

Main Game: 5 stars. Seven levels, each made up of three stages, each of which are further made up of three parts, make for quite a lot of ball-rolling fun. An evil witch [OK, so that's kinda redundant] has attacked Dream Land. Kirby bravely confronts her, but she rudely turns him into a ball and even more rudely makes her escape through a weird vortex without even apologizing to him. Kirby helplessly watches her leave, and then notices she left behind a magic paintbrush, which magically transports to you. Somehow in the uncertain science of materializing-from-out-of-video-games it must end up looking like a stylus or something, because mine did. But maybe I got a faulty game card. :-] It's up to you to lead Kirby through a maze of levels, from ice worlds to ancient ruins and tons more, in an effort to stop the witch and save Dream Land yet again.

Unlockables: 5 stars. Collect the medals found throughout the game and trade them in for all sorts of prizes, from bonus maps and new ink types to character balls and songs to play on the Sound Test screen. Different prizes cost different amounts of medals, but you can never be sure quite what you're going to get until you buy it. I love games with lots of unlockables, and Kirby Canvas Curse has tons.

Subgames: 5 stars. Beat a level to unlock it in Rainbow Run, where you can earn many more medals based on your performances in the two trial modes. Time Trial is quite obviously a race to get to the finish in as little time as possible. Line Trial challenges you to draw as little as possible to complete the course. There are also the subgames, of which there are three. You play one of your choice after you beat any of the seven levels in the main game. Beat the same subgame twice to unlock it for play whenever you want.

Kirby Canvas Curse is an awesome game, and a must-have for any DS owner. My only problem with it is the lack of any multiplayer feature. Even the GBA Kirby titles had that. But that's my only complaint, and it's not a major one. I love the single-player game, and wish there were more like it out for the DS right now. I've been waiting a long time for a DS Kirby game [I'm still waiting for a Lord of the Rings], and my waiting has finally paid off [in the Kirby aspect, anyway. No LOTR game yet, unfortunately]. This game is one that will provide many hours of gaming delight to any Kirby fan, and is proof that Nintendo can make a game that utilizes the Touch Screen to its full extent[complete control] AND has a good plot.

I hope my review has helped you, even with its overabundance of parentheses and hyphenated words. A final word of advice: If you like Kirby at all, or if you're looking for a truly unique gaming experience, look no further-get this game.

At first, i thought this game would be a let down on my B-day but after about five minutes i started to see the fun of this game. So far, you won't find any other game quite like this, or with your little pal kirby for that matter. I would recomend this game for any fan of kirbys or even people that aren't. Pinball look out, kirby is scoring hits!

kirby's back

To start this out, the game should get a 4.5 and let me explain. This game has 7 worlds and each world as 3 levels, including a boss battle. You will have to tap kirby to dash into enemies and copy their abilities. 11 abilities in all. You can stun enemies, break blocks, and make a rainbow path for kirby which is basically the whole point in the game with much more all using the stylus! There are also many fun mini games which makes you use the stylus. The game as better graphic than the gba kirby games, mostly because the world has a ton more colors making the game look great. Plus the graphic are just better in all. This game will offer tons of non-stop hours of fun. This game would be perfect except for the fact that this game as no multiplayer at all. besides that little fact its a perfect game. i hope this review helped.
