A game, that is simply the best DS game

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 4 / 4

If you are looking for the kind of adventure filled with action. If you like batlling boses in a mini game format. If you've been looking for a really fun and great DS game, then Kirby: Canvas Curse is a game that you would love!
Kirby: Canvas Curse, is about an evil witch who turns Dream Land into a whole painting! As kirby sees the witch escape into a portal, kirby jumps into the portal, too. Kirby attemps to fight the evil witch, he is turned into a pink ball, with the powers of the witch. As kirby helplessly watches the witch take over the world, kirby finds an odd paint brush, that can draw rainbows to allow kirby to travel. Now, kirby must stop the the witch, by fighting the witch's creations she draws.1 by 1, kirby is , just may be, able to defeat the witch and all of her evil to save Dream Land!
ON Kirby, you have to draw lines to make kirby travel. If you touch kirby, he'll get a speed boost, and will be able to kill enemies. Of coarse, you'll be able to "copy" few of the enemies' abilities, classic. Kirby also features 7 levels, each level with 3 stages, lines that you can buy by finding coins hidden in the stages, and also has a juke box, that can play new, classic and fun songs and sounds. You'll be able to recognize some of the sounds from previous nintendo games, giving you lots of fun. Kirby: Canvas Curse is already out on the Ds. So if you are looking for a fun game, i highly recomend that you buy it.

This game is a great action platformer. I mean, just look at the screenshots. I know it looks strange since you use rainbows as lines to guide you, I didn't like that. But, they thought ahead and you can buy different skins for the line. Anyway, the point is, to make a long story short, is about a whitch, who turns kirby into a mere ball, no legs. no arms. no body. Just a soccerball. But boy do they make this simple concept into a fun and unique experience. Kirby moves by himself, and sometimes he can run into obstacles,(ok all the time), you must draw with the DS stylus to make a shield, attack, and of course the path. Of course you have a limited amount of Ink which spoils the fun but oh well. And the "Bosses" aren't really bosses, you can pick from King DeeDee, and two new characters to the kirby saga. It's a great game, but I gave it four stars because it's ONE of those games where I have the urge to play it, but get tired of it an hour or so later, and so on. It's a great game overall, it's just missing multiplayer!

Funnest DS game yet!

Kirby Canvas Cures for the DS is one of the funnest games out for this handheld right now and if you have a DS and havent thought of purchasing this game WHATS WRONG WITH YOU!! Not only is this game one of best games on the DS its also very very original and unique(Plus it takes advantage of the DS stylus and touch screen). The Visuals in the game are simply beautiful and very Colorful. Nintendo hit the mark on that one. Its such a treat how every world is so different and unique on its own(especially the last few worlds). Speaking of worlds, you'll be playing in abunch trying to get your way from point a to point b. The first few ones are CAKE but the last few ones will get you frustraited at times especially the last 2 worlds(there not really worlds i just like to call em' that). The musc/sound in the game is also gos with the atmosphere of the game. Some times it will be joyus and childesh and then sometimes it will be like.....the same? but with a techno like beats to it. As for the control?.....Sylus,touch screen(im not gonna go into detail about it cause the rest of the reviews probably tell it better then me),nuff said. The only gripe I have is that the game could have been longer not to mention...DARE I SAY IT....it gets a bit repetitive and boring near the end. NOW i know i said how fun this game is(believe me i was having a blast the first hours i purchased this game)but after awhile the game really does get stale....But the short and somewhat easy/gets abig hard at the end games storymode is also made up for COLLECTING MEDALS which is an awesome treat. I've gotten almost 119 but gave up(hey i got other things to do!). But for you die hard Kirby Fans out there you'll eat this one up in seconds, sure there are times when getting medals will be a peace of cake but also times when you'll be tearing out your hair wondering how you have to get that. Besides the Storymode, and collecting coins there are some really awesome sub games such as one where you have to match the same drawing as the boss youre fighting(and boy is it fun!)..ill just get this done quick for you folks

The Good
-Beautiful Animation
-Takes full advantage of the DS touch screen and Stylus
-Collecting Medals is fun
-Great story mode and really fun
-Good music
-Awesome things to unlock like levels, music, ect
-The sub games are really fun and a treat to play
-If you add the everything to do together you'll get a decent 20-50 hours of gameplaying

The bad
-Last 2 worlds go from being pretty easy to just plain frustraiting(atleast for me)
-Short Story mode(then again i was kina getting tired of it :/ )
-some medals are a pain to get
-Getting an A in those sub games can be a little frustraiting

Overall Kirby is a great game to have and is an excellent edition to the DS library. I give it a

4.5 out of 5.

At Last, A Kirby Game For Nintendo DS!!!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 4 / 4

I don't know why I like Kirby games as well as I do. Maybe it's all the extras to unlock, or maybe it's the free-roaming go-wherever-you-want-whenever-you-feel-like-it gameplay. Then again, maybe it's just the fun of defeating baddies with a little pink blob. Whatever the case, the name Kirby in a game's title causes me to expect a lot from the game. And Kirby has yet to dissapoint me. Kirby's DS debut is refreshingly different from his GameBoy titles, but retains the same uniquely Kirby feel. Here's a category-by-category rating:

Controls: 5 stars. The touch screen is all you use. Kirby has been turned into a ball, and automatically moves forward and reverses whenever he hits a wall. Draw paths to direct him, jumps to [duh] make him jump, and walls to protect him from enemies. Touch him to get a burst of speed or use a Copy ability.

Music/Sound Effects: 5 stars. Great songs and classic sound effects create that Kirby atmosphere, and the Sound Test feature, a traditional Kirby extra, lets you listen to them to your heart's content, once you unlock them. I don't know why, but I love the sound it makes when Kirby goes in and out of the transporter-tube thingies.

Main Game: 5 stars. Seven levels, each made up of three stages, each of which are further made up of three parts, make for quite a lot of ball-rolling fun. An evil witch [OK, so that's kinda redundant] has attacked Dream Land. Kirby bravely confronts her, but she rudely turns him into a ball and even more rudely makes her escape through a weird vortex without even apologizing to him. Kirby helplessly watches her leave, and then notices she left behind a magic paintbrush, which magically transports to you. Somehow in the uncertain science of materializing-from-out-of-video-games it must end up looking like a stylus or something, because mine did. But maybe I got a faulty game card. :-] It's up to you to lead Kirby through a maze of levels, from ice worlds to ancient ruins and tons more, in an effort to stop the witch and save Dream Land yet again.

Unlockables: 5 stars. Collect the medals found throughout the game and trade them in for all sorts of prizes, from bonus maps and new ink types to character balls and songs to play on the Sound Test screen. Different prizes cost different amounts of medals, but you can never be sure quite what you're going to get until you buy it. I love games with lots of unlockables, and Kirby Canvas Curse has tons.

Subgames: 5 stars. Beat a level to unlock it in Rainbow Run, where you can earn many more medals based on your performances in the two trial modes. Time Trial is quite obviously a race to get to the finish in as little time as possible. Line Trial challenges you to draw as little as possible to complete the course. There are also the subgames, of which there are three. You play one of your choice after you beat any of the seven levels in the main game. Beat the same subgame twice to unlock it for play whenever you want.

Kirby Canvas Curse is an awesome game, and a must-have for any DS owner. My only problem with it is the lack of any multiplayer feature. Even the GBA Kirby titles had that. But that's my only complaint, and it's not a major one. I love the single-player game, and wish there were more like it out for the DS right now. I've been waiting a long time for a DS Kirby game [I'm still waiting for a Lord of the Rings], and my waiting has finally paid off [in the Kirby aspect, anyway. No LOTR game yet, unfortunately]. This game is one that will provide many hours of gaming delight to any Kirby fan, and is proof that Nintendo can make a game that utilizes the Touch Screen to its full extent[complete control] AND has a good plot.

I hope my review has helped you, even with its overabundance of parentheses and hyphenated words. A final word of advice: If you like Kirby at all, or if you're looking for a truly unique gaming experience, look no further-get this game.

So fun!

This game is very fun. I bought the Japanese version the day it came out and I have played it a ton. I must say that it goes by very quickly, as I finished the game 5 days after it came out. Overall, this game is great. I reccomend it if you like Kirby games, and I think that this is the best one yet!

Fun but short and occasionally frustrating

Kirby has long since left his usual world of platforming behind. On the Gamecube, Kirby starred in a racing game and in a similar trend, Kirby for the DS is a game in which he simply rolls. However, with his departure from platforming, Kirby has become a star in games that are fun for everyone in the family.

In his first appearance on the DS, Kirby is turned into a ball and loses all abilities except the ability to roll. In an effort to become a normal Kirby again, he rolls across screen to get from one end of the stage to the other. Blocking his path are bad guys, spinning blades, pits, and darkness. It is your job to help Kirby survive the challenges and plights of the world.

The highlight of Kirby: Canvas Curse is the overall interactivity of the game. The stylus is the only thing used throughout the game and thus, extensive use of the touch screen is made. It is your job to keep Kirby alive, by stunning enemies with a poke, by drawing lines for Kirby to roll across and by blocking lasers with drawn walls. The extensive use of the stylus keeps you on your toes and forces you to focus on the game.

The graphics in the game are attractive with a variety of colors being used. The game is nicely designed for a portable, with each level being short enough to finish in a few minutes time. This makes the game great for simply picking up on the go. If even a level is too long, the game also has time trial and line trial modes to play short segments of levels to set new records.

The major drawback of Kirby: Canvas Curse is its relatively short length. You can beat the game in under six hours and have done everything possible in the game in seven. Fortunately, the hours invested into the game are great fun, and as a portable, this should last you a decent amount of time. However, when competing against titles like Metroid Prime: Hunters, Mario 64 DS and Advance Wars DS, Kirby does not have quite the same longevity.

In an effort to add value to the game, medals can be collected in story mode as well as in time trial and line modes to be exchanged. Exchanging medals seems relatively useless. Sure, you can trade in for a few new time trial levels, but for the most part, medals are traded for lines and different Kirby skins. Not really a reward if you ask me. Even still, the medal hunt will keep you occupied for a time but after collecting them all, there's not really much left to do.

One area of the game that has its ups and its downs is the level design. Water levels are obnoxious as you must continuously poke Kirby to make him sink to greater depths. This becomes more of a pain than entertaining. On the other hand, some levels are truly genius as you move in a cage full of spikes, total darkness and in space. The last chapter of the game brings out some great levels that really force you to utilize your skills.

Overall, Kirby is a fun game that is great if you have a family as everyone will be able to pick it up and play. If you are interested in making the most of your DS, it is a good game to pick up and see what new things the DS brings to market.

kirby's back

To start this out, the game should get a 4.5 and let me explain. This game has 7 worlds and each world as 3 levels, including a boss battle. You will have to tap kirby to dash into enemies and copy their abilities. 11 abilities in all. You can stun enemies, break blocks, and make a rainbow path for kirby which is basically the whole point in the game with much more all using the stylus! There are also many fun mini games which makes you use the stylus. The game as better graphic than the gba kirby games, mostly because the world has a ton more colors making the game look great. Plus the graphic are just better in all. This game will offer tons of non-stop hours of fun. This game would be perfect except for the fact that this game as no multiplayer at all. besides that little fact its a perfect game. i hope this review helped.

Kirby-Canvas Curse is a very fun game,in which you are kirby and you do not have any arms or legs which makes the game even better then old ones made in the past.In the game you must create a path for kirby with a beautiful rainbow line. For experenced gamers the game can be beat in about 3 days if you play it contantly. But most people probly won`t be able to finish it so quickly. In the game you also have to collect coins to but stuff in the shop. It`s a great game and I HIGHLY recomend it for the Nintendo DS.

It's a good Game

Kirby:Canvas Curse is a good game. I will rate it in five categories below.

Graphics - 3/5

What is it with all of these nintendo ds games using 2d graphics when the ds is capable of 3d, this is my main gripe. Other than that the graphics are good.

Gameplay - 4/5

This is the same thing over and over again. You never use any buttons, but the stylus is fun to use, but very difficult in the underwater worlds.

Music/Sound - 5/5

This is a good feature. The music doesn't get annoying like it does in some games.

Value(how long this game takes to beat) - 5/5

This game could last you a very long time if you try to get all the medals. It takes a long time to do, trust me.

Fun - 4/5

This game can sometimes get frustrating to the point where you just want to give up. Especially in the rainbow run courses (time trial).

overall - 4.2 rounds to four

Overall - 4/5

AWESOME
