Cute

I rented Cooking Mama, partly out of curiosity, partly as a joke. It sounded silly and I didn't expect much of it. My boyfriend's 10 yr old daughter asked me what I was playing, and when I told her it was a cooking game, she looked at me like it was the dumbest game she'd ever heard of. However, she tried it and now she's hooked. It's cute and fun in small doses. I haven't unlocked all the recipes yet, but it doesn't seem that it would have any replay value afterward (thus the 3 star overall rating). I don't really understand the point of combining recipes either. You're not really combining anything. You're really just making two separate recipes and putting them on the same plate. The timed challenges can range from very simple to frustrating.

Not for Adults

I've always liked little quarky games like this one but this game gets repetitious very fast. After you cook about 10 dishes you're ready to put the game down. The sound effects are great, the colors and graphics are cute. I haven't played it in about a month and there is no excitment about it that makes me wanna pick it back up. This game would be fun for a 10 year old but for adults...it get boring really fast.

I bought this game for my daughter at Christmas time. It is really fun and I started borrowing her ds so i could play it. She left it in my car so i took into work on my lunch break and cooked up some new dishes. It is fun and it does teach you some simple things and how you have to do different steps to create a meal. I want to get me, I mean my daughter Cooking mama 2 because this game is so fun. My only complaint is sometimes you are following the instuctions but for some reason it doesn't flip the meat or stir sometimes. Overall, it is fun and can be entertaining for a long time. Even loverboy likes to play it!

Not really what i thought it would be...

This is not a game you can play over and over again and not get bored. Once you know how to stir, cut, mix etc it pretty much is the same except for the steps in the actual cooking process. That applies to the cooking process too, cause it can't be different each time around for the same dish. A video clipping from amazon would have helped the decision process.
The graphics definitely is a weak point. If the game had options to create your own recipes would have been great to challenge friends. Like other games it should have had levels of difficuilty for any dish. That would make it a little more interesting. Other games also maintain your skill level and that could have very well been incorporated too(brain academy for example). All in all the creators need to put their thinking hats on to keep the gamer engaged. Thats key when you have a hand held. I would not recommend this game.

** I'm not sure how much the cooking mama II game is going to address. I'm big into cooking and hosting parties and this game was a let down, maybe i had high expectations.

It is a fun and interesting game, but some of the techniques with the stylus where a little hard to master. Practice makes perfect. To me, it is worth a try.

Repetitive, but still good fun

Gameplay get a bits repetitive after a while, but it's still pretty fun. Some parts of this game are actually quite challenging.

Once you beaten the game, there's not much else to do but go back and do everything over. It's not much of a challenge after you get the hang of it.

A Little Too Simple for My Tastes

I thought this game would have more to it, such as real-life recipes. If you want to pretend to cook, and that's all, it's good.
