My husband purchased the DS, Cooking Mama, and Brain Age for me for Christmas (among other things). I absolutely love this game! I enjoy cooking and this game is fun and educational. I've learned new recipes and cooking techniques like how to cut a squid and the quickest and easiest way to chop veggies. It even sounds like I'm really cooking, boiling, and chopping.
I even have my 1 year old chopping and cooking with me. I haven't tried the recipies but I know they taste good because the recipies are variations of food I already cook. Overall you have a bunch of food to cook and get new recipes all the time. So unless you don't mind preparing and cooking various different foods you will walk away with learning cooking tricks or new recipes from this. You get rated each time you chop, peel, boil, stew, and place something: bronze, silver, and gold. In the end it averages. Happy Cooking!
Cute cooking game

In this game you use the DS stylus to perform "cooking techniques" and dish up tasty recipes. You can get a gold, medal or bronze for each cooking technique (like mix, break eggs, saute, etc.) and each technique in a recipe affects the final score and gold/silver/bronze for the whole recipe. And, completing basic recipes unlocks new ones! (I was puzzled by instant ramen as a "recipe" until I saw it unlocked soba and the whole noodle dish family.)
Cute graphics and perky music. You're mostly trying to improve your scores on each recipe to get gold medals, and unlock new recipes. No, you're not saving the world, and there's not really a plot, but I think this a nice relaxing game for $20.
Very Fun!

I ordered this game a couple of weeks ago. I must admit ever since then I've enjoyed it. I would not reccomend this game if you like fast-paced action games. If you are one of those who enjoy fast-paced games, this game may not be for you. But I definetly love it!
In the game you have to cook different dishes. Each dish you have a different set of "instructions" So for one there may be "chopping" "boiling" "pooring water"...etc. You must complete each of the tasks for each dish, and depending on how well you do it, you receive more points. I have read that the game is kind of sensitive. I will admit during some of tasks, there is some sensitivity. But your hand starts to remember exactly where to place the stylus. As they say, "practice makes perfect." But there are much harder tasks to complete, I have the hardest with peeling potatoes and putting a certain amount of food into wraps. (kind of confusing, sorry) But even if you can't do very well on just one task you can still complete the dish, but won't receive the same amount of points, and may be able to open a "new dish."
All in all it's a fun game to play. I would definetly suggest it!

This game is so much FUN !! I read a review on a website and thought at first this game must be lame just by the name but curiousity got me and I purchased the game. I was wrong ... totally wrong !! It's more fun than a barrel of monkeys. You follow easy instructions to cook many different japanese inspired dishes. Many of wish my Mama cooks all the time so it kinda hit me in the heart to learn to cook all of my Mama's dishes through a DS. I really enjoy it a lot and you should BUY IT !!!
It's ok for a while

While this game is a cute concept, it's definitely not my favorite. While it is based on mini-games, I wish there was some larger goal you were working towards. After you complete the recipes, they are completed. If they do a sequel to this game, I hope there's a larger goal at stake, and it's perhaps in the form of a cooking game show or ensuring a restaurant is successful, etc. But the good thing is this game is inexpensive, and kids who are too young to cook but are wanting to try it out will probably love it!
Too much fun!!!

I love the idea of a game system allowing children to learn something, like this one. I bought her Cooking Mama, Sims 2 Pets, Big Brain Academy, and Happy feet. Her favorite game is this one. It has even taught me some techniques for cooking that I never knew before. It's a lot of fun for my 11 year-old daughter.

I recieved this game as a gift. A friend of mine had it and said that it should totally be one that I got (as we both love to cook, and love goofing off)
So, when I recieved it, I never imagined how addictive it could possibly be. I finished, and unlocked all recipes in like 2 days, am now working on getting gold medals for everything. Its a blast and a great way to pass the time.
I almost blew this game away. Literally.

Ok. Now I know I'm not the brightest star in the sky but whodathunk that when the game calls for you to 'blow', while stewing or boiling something, that you are actually supposed to blow into the mic! I failed at so many recipes just because I didn't know what to do when the recipe called for 'blowing'. Yes, I know what you are saying, "Did you read the instructions before you played the game?" Of course not! This game appears juvenile and primative, but it has proven to me at least, to be the most advanced NDS game to date. Even if you don't enjoy puzzle games or you are a Teen/Mature gamer, this game is worth owning just to experience the full capabilities of your DS. I'd hate to know what the Mature Game Developers are doing with this whole 'blow' thing. Yuck!
Fun game

When I first came home with this game and tried it, I thought it was going to be kind of dumb. But it is lots of fun and kind of addicting. I even got my 11yr old son doing some of the cooking. Plus it is a good price.
