Disappointed

After all the wonderful reviews, I decided to try Cooking Mama out. It didn't last long; I played it for about five minutes and proceeded to forget about it for a week before trading it it for Yoshi's Island DS.

Visually, there's really nothing "wrong" with the game; the graphics are great. The controls, though, are clunky and counterintuitive. It seems to take forever to learn how to do some of the techniques, and by the time I practiced enough to learn how to do it for real, I had lost interest and tried to move on to nothing else.

But that's the worst part of the game; there is nothing else. The minigames are as dry as the rest of the game, and there's really nothing else to scream about.

If you're huge into anime style graphics and games that make heavy use of the stylus, buy this game by all means. Just don't be surprised when it bores the life out of you.

I brought this game only because I love to cook. Here are my pros and cons about it.

Pros
- fun game for any age if you love to cook
- you can unlock new recipes once you get better in the game
- mama smiles and has stars in her eyes if you do something right

Cons
- some skills in the game can be hard
- mama's eyes flare up if you do something wrong and don't do it within the time limit.

- the graphics are cute but are kind of little kiddish and I'm in my 20's but oh well

otherwise i think it is an interesting game if you love to cook

Both my daughter (10) and my son (6) love this game. They have so much fun with it and they learn from it too which they love to share with us in the kitchen.

I've had this game for about a week or two and I gotta say it's better than I expected! When you get to menu page you can Cook, Combine, Use Skill, or go to Opitons. When you Cook I really enjoy it. I liked being able to make some of my favorite foods and get medals! The game is pretty much the same over and over cooking food, getting medals, getting new recipes, and then repeat. But either way I like it. The graphics... well there good but I mean when you don't have a person running around with a weapon, like in a fighting game, graphics will probably look good... if you even notice them. There is some alcohol content, like wine. It doesn't bother me but really that might change your whole outlook on the game. Over all I like it and I reccomend it.

My 11 yr old received this for xmas. My 7yr old son borrows it all the time. It's very different than a lot of the other games out there. There's always something to do, yet no violence. Even I enjoyed playing it. You have to practice different skills, then use them to "make" the recipes. How well you do earns you medals and opens up more recipes to make.

I got this game for my 13YO nephew for Christmas. He adored it and so did his 9 year old sister! He let me play it for a bit and I found myself sitting there for over 3 hours. It really is a seriously fun, addicting game that actually gets kids interested in cooking. I highly reccomend it, both as an Uncle and as a chef.

I actually had to hunt down this game because no one had it anywhere. When I finally got it, I wasn't sorry. This game utilizes the Nintendo DS touch screen only, which some may not like, but because of what you do in the game, there is really no other way. You chop, mix ingredients, pan fry, microwave, and deep fry, a bunch of different recipes. Once you complete the dish with at least a bronze medal, you unlock more recipes as well as unlock the ability to mix recipes to create new things, and perfect your cooking techniques, so there is room for lots of game time. I find this game enjoyable for quick gaming, and is so easy that anyone can do this- all you do is what Mama says!

Unique fun game...at least for awhile.

This is a very interesting mini-game...game. It's very simple, yet challenging. Meaning anyone can pick it up and play it, but as it goes on it's a bit tough on some levels.

There's many meals to choose to make, and after you get gold on all of them you can mix your own and beat the 'skills' section. But after that there really isn't anything else to do. Except put the game down, and come back to it later. And maybe introduce more people to the fun. They could have added more things to do, but this is a very good start to show the potential the DS has for cooking mini-game fun. Recommended for anyone with a DS and wants/needs a quick, unique game. =)

I just got this game, and I think it's a good one. In this game your stylus is your do it all kitchen tool. You use it to chop, slice, and dice your way through a tasty variety of recipes. Mama is your judge and she gives you metals depending on how good you did cooking the meal. I like the fact that you can unlock other recipes as you go along, and that there are different modes of play. This game is a good way to challenge your skills with the stylus! It may even give you inspiration to try some of the recipes! I think this game has a good replay value. It is definitely worth the buy!

A Really Fun Game That You Don't Get Tired Of

I bought this game for my 10 year old daughter and this review is based on her opinions. In this game you get to unlock recipes and make new ones. You try to earn a gold star on each recipe. If you like cooking I would recommend this game. It can keep you busy for weeks. She really enjoyed it and still does.
