OMG!This is the best game ever everyone should have this game.!! The way you can cook forever and how you can combine all recipes you have!!! Also, how you can show YOUR skill by doing what you do best!!!!:):)

For pre-teens

This game is probably best for pre-teens because it can become very repetitive and doesn't allow you to combine multiple dishes. Beware of scratching your Nintendo DS screen when "whisking" ingredients together.

Yes, I know I'm better than Mama, you don't need to tell me so often

I literally did all I could the first couple of days after getting this game. I overplayed it. And now I'm running the risk of doing it again with the second one.

I must admit I'm not much of a cook in real life, but this was actually quite fun. I liked chopping, but I find peeling so much easier in real life. And I didn't cry whenever I cut the onions. There are some aspects of the game I struggled with. It's very repetitive. I hated doing the boiling/frying/grilling segments of the game. And I mostly got bronze or silver for the dishes I managed to do. I got a couple of golds (sandwich and something else!) which I was proud of. And I did tend to swear at it quite a lot, which was funny to everyone else sitting around me at times, when I didn't realise I was doing it. And I got some strange looks blowing into the microphone on the bus.

If you're mostly rubbish at some of the dishes (understatement), you will find you can't really advance to bigger dishes, and it does get frustrating making the same dish over and over. So I eventually gave up. The practising bit was useless, I never really bothered with it, but I did like the skills section, where you could practise your skills - only to find out you were really hopeless.

I have started playing Cooking Mama 2 and have found some differences. But then I did complete about 8 dishes in half an hour - so I wonder how much longer it will last?

Cute Idea...Poor Execution

I thought that cooking on my DS was going to be great. And it was for...the first 10 minutes. There just aren't enough variations to keep you interested for long. Chopping onion and cutting up potato is the exact same motion...Just like measuring rice and measuring water is the same. There weren't that many different dishes to make. So if you can already cook...stay in the kitchen. If you have no idea how to cook and are afraid to touch raw meat, then maybe you should try this before attempting the real thing.

Fun for kids, not for adults

I bought this game since it had good reviews especially for kids. I'm a kid at heart so thought I would enjoy it. I was wrong. The graphics are fine, lots of recipes to make with new recipes added as you succesfully complete recipes. Your "cooking" consists of using the stylus to touch, tap, slide, and swirl on the touch screen. It gets very repetitive and mundane. I did like the variety of menu items, including miso soup, neopolitan spaghetti, and fried octopus dumplings (or something close to that). Young kids may love it, for the ease and lack of high brain activity required. But if you are a teenager and above who enjoys childish things but wants a bit of a challenge or goal to work towards other than 60 more recipes, avoid this game.

So Much Fun!

This game is really great! You get to use the touch-screen a lot, to preform varios skills such as chopping veggies, stirring soup, and much more! This is a really fun game, and I would reacommend it to anyone.

I love this game. Highly addictive . . . I stay up just trying to master the recipes. I wish it was more like the Wii version where there are cooking competitions via wi-fi. Other than that it's fun and addictive!

When i first got this game i wasnt sure what to think about it. But the more i played it the more i was surprised that i actually liked it and couldnt put it down!

it can be fun to make all the different types of food and to see how well you do at it and what your score is after each one.

Fun and entertaining

I bought this game for my DS lite and was expecting it to be a little different. The game itself is a lot of fun. Trying to cook correctly with the touch screen to be perfect like mama. The only drawback is that it is very repetitive. The recipes are all Japanese, so that is neat. Even though I get bored with it, I continue to play to beat my previous score to get a gold medal on all my recipes.
