Not for me, but interesting

As you probably already know, Animal Crossing is one of Nintendo's many "un-games". There's no score, no competition, and not much objective. You live in a little town, make friends, catch fish, design clothes, hang out... And live, basically. It's scarily addictive, especially since the events in town are connected to your system clock, so something different is happening every day. Me, I found it addictive without being fun---I was logging in daily to see what was happening and catch fish and dig for gyroids... but was never really enjoying it. But I can understand how other people would find it fun, especially if they're into the various customization options, like designing clothes and flags, making a town anthem, and so on.

A reveiw that gives all the pros and cons for this game

This game is so much better than the Gamecube version, (which I own and am a big fan of) in many ways.

Pros:

1.THE ANIMALS ARE SMART!

Unlike the GC version, where the animals just stand around and they only do stuff if you talk to them, WW animals sometimes approach you wanting to talk to you! Crazy Redd even requires a password to get in, which is more realistic.

2.LOADS OF NEW PEOPLE!

In wild world, there are tons of new people! There's an insurance agent that gives you 100 bells every time you get stung by bees or trip (you can trip in this game). There are also new species of villagers.

3.NEW FISH AND BUGS!

There are many more species of fish and bugs in this game. Now when you go sea fishing, you can catch clown fish or even sharks!

4.FLEA MARKET!

Ever find that you caught a fish that you'd never caught before and nook would only pay 500 bells? Now there's a flea market that pays double what Nook would pay!

5.NO MORE ACRES!

In the GC version, there are 30 acres, divided 5x6. In WW, you have a camera angle where you're seeing your character from about 5-10 feet up. The world is round in this game!

6.SAVE ANYTIME!

In the old game, where you had to save at your gyroid, you can save anywhere in WW.

7.BARBER SHOP, HATS, AND NEW CLOTHES!

For nookingtons dept. store there's a barbershop. There are now hats and hair, along with an assortment of new clothes. Making patterns is a heck of a lot easier considering you just draw it on there with a stylus.

CONS:

1.MR. RESETTI!

Mr. Resetti, the person who lectures you about saving if you didn't save the last time you played, is still there! I really don't need to be lectured by a bunch of 1's and 0's about saving.

2.NO REAL HOLIDAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the dumbest thing about this game and is the only reason someone should think about not getting it. THERE AREN'T ANY HOLIDAYS! What your town celebrates is "nook day" and things like that. But you still get presents, and that's good.

Thanks for reading my review, and I hope it made you get this game!

This is the best game ever!

I got this game for my birthday and I played it and it was really fun. You get to chop down trees & dig holes and go fishing and catch bugs. You can make your house expanded. You should get this game. It is really fun.

Addictive fun... again.

Fans of Animal Crossing for the Gamecube will find almost everything they loved about that game in the new DS version. And that pretty much sums up the pros AND cons of this game.
A few things have been removed from the game to make it DS friendly, but nothing that seems to hinder gameplay or fun. But, nothing really has been added to the game (at least in single player mode.) So, while I thought Animal Crossing GC was a great game, I wasn't completely addicted as many were... and I was hoping to see some differences (meaning additions.) There isn't even really a good implementation of the touch screen.
However, none of the fun of the original has been lost, either.
So, if you're craving another run through another crazy, tree shaking, hole digging, crazy animal quest running adventure... there's nothing to complain about here.
I would believe some people would find this game very boring... honestly, the majority of the game revolves around scrounging things up to sell so you can pay off your house debt and decorate your pad... but I have yet to meet anyone who was bored with it! Something about this game makes it highly addictive... even if it is just the simple joy of seeing what your town store sells each day. (Because, like the first game, days and seasons pass in real time! But, this time around, seemingly no holidays.)

Now, the WiFi capabilities DO add a little something to the game. After hooking up with a friend (or friends) you can visit each other's towns, buy and trade their items, and even dig large holes all over their town...
Hooking up, on the other hand, presents some problems. Basically this: it isn't easy. You need to enter your friend's code into your game, and vice versa. Then, you need to both be online at the same time. Getting codes from personal friends is pretty simple; coordinating codes with one of the many people on online message boards, since you need BOTH codes, is nearly impossible. Which can be good! It makes it much more difficult for children to play the game with questionable strangers... especially when you consider these visitors will be leaving you written messages (whatever they want to write) and pictures in the form of constellations. (I've seen a few... 'questionable'... things so far, but fortunately not many.) Also, if you don't have a WiFi hookup at home, this feature is going to be useless... unless you want to get together and go sit at McDonalds for a few hours.

No matter what though, the most important thing about this game is this: it is terribly terribly addictive. Well worth your purchase money (even if there isn't much new here) and is going to suck up large portions of your time...
Or... it will... if my boyfriend ever stops playing, and lets me use the DS again... maybe...

Animal Crosssing comes to DS!!!

I got this game for Hanukkah from my Aunt. I thought it would be fun, but not as great as it is. First off, for those who think it is like the Sims for kids, your wrong. I own both games, and animal crossing is much better for several reasons. First off, unlike in the sims, your character does not need to run to the bathroom every 3 seconds. Or eat or fall on the floor of exhaustion. This game is basically just your life in town. And, unlike some people say, this is not a kids game. First off, the animals aren't always friendly. For example, when I go to Static's (Who I think is a squirrel...) house, and he is not there, his away message is : "I'm out right now. Deal." When citizens ask what you want (Literally, that is what they say), you can respond with things like "I'm killing time."
The citizens of your town all come with unique personalities. For example Maple, the bear is very nice and gentle. Nibbles the squirrel freaks out all the time. Static and Rasher (Who is some purple pig with scars all over his face) are mean. Frobbert the frog has issues. He never leaves his house, and whenever I talk to him he goes "Get MEDICINE...NOW!". After a few days, I realized that he wasn't going to get better, so I forked over 400 bells (Dumbass frog wasted all my cash) to Tom Nook for some Medicine. I gave it to Frobbert. He was happy with me for a day, and now is back to saying "Get MEDICINE...NOW!". Whatever.
So anyways, as I was saying, this game is basically about your life with your towns people (Or should I say animals?) who you will learn to love and at times, hate (*cough*Frobbert*cough*). It always seems like there is something new to do, and I find that I can play it everyday without getting bored. Great game.

Addiction. Pure addiction.

Okay, I'm just just going to say this right away: THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVER! It is completly different from the GameCube version in some ways, and the same in others. Yes, that is a good this. What's the point of having the same exact game on a different console? But still.
I think it is highly superior to the GameCube version. You can do compleatly different things, like make "secret greetings" with your neighbor (you can make really weird ones, so they say "Mactoshioio!" when ever they see you), HYBRID FLOWERS (that's really cool), and buy coffee (we're appparently not little kids anymore!).
But, alas, we still but our house from Tom Nook (the raccoon store owner) and pay him our "debt". You also only have one house instead of four (for everyone), and have a "Save Room" instead of a Gyroid. You can also expand your house to have ONE HUGE ROOM, 3 SMALL ROOMS, ONE UPSTAIRS ROOM, and a SAVE ROOM. The price? Oh it's just a small... 948,000bells!
There are also changes in tools. Besides the net, shovel, axe, and fishing rod (and the golden ones), you also get a slingshot (for shooting presents and such on the top screen), a timer (to time how many bugs or fish you can catch in an amount of time), and a watering can (flowers can die!)
You can also go to animals y and invite them to your house. You can also tap them from a distance to wave.

Graphics: B+ it's on a touch screen, I don't blame them
Sound: A+
Fun Factor: A
Plot: A

I didn't get tired of playing this game until after a very long period of time, but I started up again the next day. What can I say, this game is addictive.

You get to make your own characters, (maximum two), name a town and have them explore around it with bug catching, digging, shopping and chatting with neighbors.

The graphics are fine, but only the bottom screen is used while playing the game. The top screen is just a sky that changes color, depending on the time of day.

What a great transition of Animal Crossing! I'm very impressed, and I'm sure you will too when you buy it, and I recommend it strongly.

GET THIS GAME!!!!!!!!

this is the best game ever! i would tell you about all the technical stuff, but you probebly would rather hear about how to bother your neighbors on it! if they are sad and you keep talking to them their voice gets really low. to make them mad hit them on the head over and over with a net. also they get ticked if you keep talking to them. tom nook owns the store and he is a racoon. he bothers my emotions. anyway, you can also send people letters and all this other stuff. if you go to the cafe in the museum on saturday at 8pm a dog will give you songs for your radio. get the guide too, i don't have one, but i copied all the important stuff from it in my notebook. the guide belonged to my friend. anywat, the last thing i have to say is: IF YOU HAVE A DS BY ALL MEANS GET THIS GAME!!!! also this game has cool graphics and it reminds me of my cousin. i miss her:(
THIS GAME RULES IT IS MY FAVORITE!!!!!! bye.

Amazing gameplay, months of fun times with WiFi

One of the most unique features of this game is that every single day brings something different. You can buy new items, participate in town events, decorate your house/city with new things - just login and see the new stuff.

But the best feature by far is the ability to visit other people's towns and participate in their experience as well. You can stack up to 4 people in a town at once thanks to WiFi connectivity, gather new fruit from their town, see their mansion or larger house, buy items that don't exist in your town from the vendor, etc.

Visit animalcrossingcommunity.com to exchange friend codes with hundreds of people from around the world. Plus with the DS Lite coming out in June, the numbers of new people you can interact with will explode!

The people posting negative reviews about the game being boring need to connect to WiFi and get online with lots of other people. Interacting with them, showing off your town's accomplishments, and even moving in with 'em all make this game a keeper.

AWESOME bargain for only thirty bucks, considering the 200+ hours you'll probably spend playing before you get bored of it.
