most fun and realistic combat game

This game is incredible in replay value when compared to regular Call of Duty. The AI is so advanced that you are now able to realistically sneak around an enemy position and ambush them. I Highly reccomend this game for anyone and especially fans of the series.

another Call of Duty Winner: United Offensive

Call of Duty United Offensive is a great game but it is significantly different from the others. There is a strategy that requires you to figure out the Right manner of fighting this particular battle or immediately being blow away, repeatidly. The game must be viewed as a Team effort vs. Call of Duty 2 which allows for much individual effort. The graphics and weaponry and sound effects make you "feel" the action and realize the horrific nature of war; but especially the fatalistic realities of certain large battles--if you live,it is by the "Grace of GOD' and not human cunning or abilities... If you like shooting games, this is one of the best and more than worth your $.

Good if you love being the Russians

If you're into being the technology challenged Russian army, this is for you. If you like to actually have a weapon to fire, maybe not so much. I exaggerate. This is a good game with a few more hiccups than the original COD, but there are parts that are just plain awful to try to get through, and I personally got sick of constantly being part of the Russian army. Those parts seemed to drag whereas the rest was fun.

Great Expansion

A very worthy expansion to a superb game. It not only continues the game, it has enhancements like the ability to Sprint and to "cook off" grenades before throwing.

Multiplayer is likewise awesome, now with the addition of drivable vehicles. The maps are spectacular and absolutely gigantic, some to the point that you simply can't cross them in any reasonable time without doing it in a jeep.

It's a very, very worthy addition for little cost.

Oldie but Goodie

Call of Duty has venerable history. I would consider United Offensive as the best addition to the series because it continues the excellent action of the original in single player while adding one of the best gametypes to multiplayer: Base Assault.

Base Assault pits one of the Allied factions (Russians, Brits, Americans) versus the German army and the goal is to use tanks and bazookas to take down enemy bunkers, then plant and hold a bomb in each bunker to blow them up. Blow all three bunkers: you win. It's amazing that Call of Duty 2 stripped this gametype out and CoD4 doesn't even attempt to have something similar.

In terms of multiplayer, United Offensive still holds weight, even when compared to Unreal Tournament 3, any of the Battlefield games, or any of the other rail shooters that consider DM, TDM, and CTF to be 'extensive'. The graphics are still great, sound quality is excellent, and there remains a hearty multiplayer community. I've been playing it for years, and haven't found as good a game yet.

Good Game Bad shipping

Call of duty United offensive is a awsome game, but if you order it through amazon, try to change it to another store, bc amazon's shipping is the worst that ive ever seen... It is slow, and the tracking is awful.

But going a little more into the game... here we go... The single player part is awsome but short, you can experience everything in the single player campaigns. BUt when u start the multiplayer there is this thing that i dont like which are the tanks. The tanks don't blow up easily, you need like 4 bazooka shots to get the tank down, and trust me it is not cool, to have a tank infront of u and u have no ammo left...

Played the Demo, Seems Good

I donloaded the demo and United Offensive seems like a good game. Call Of Duty was good, so you could only expect it to get better.
First of all, there are new basic weapons, like the silenced Sten. There are also flamethrowers used by the Germans. Best of all, you get deployable machine guns. Every WW2 game should have deployable machine guns.
The graphics are enhanced and levels seem to be bigger. I can't wait until I get the full version.

I love played WW2 games, and I loved CoD. The expansion pack, however, fell pretty short of my expectations. Everything is too scripted, the AI is more like Artificial UnIntelligence, the campaigns are too short.
If you loved call of duty, you might like CoD:UO if you can deal with the same old stuff. Cool weapons, and a really nice mulitplayer make it barely worth buying.

A BLAST!!

A worthy expansion to the 2003 game of the year. A little short, but not as bad as other reviewers are implying. Levels are VERY challenging, including one insanely difficult part where you are fighting in Noville and you have to protect Sgt. Moody and he's constantly dying(Hint: shoot the sniper in the upper story window of the house next to the destroyed half-track). Protecting him in Brecourt wasn't this hard. Sure it's scripted, but it's a little better than the original. Is it any less challenging or fun? NO.Right now I'm on the Pyori mission, Russia, in the factory. Finally they start you with a gun and ammo! The best expansion to any game I have ever played.
