I love played WW2 games, and I loved CoD. The expansion pack, however, fell pretty short of my expectations. Everything is too scripted, the AI is more like Artificial UnIntelligence, the campaigns are too short.
If you loved call of duty, you might like CoD:UO if you can deal with the same old stuff. Cool weapons, and a really nice mulitplayer make it barely worth buying.
A BLAST!!

A worthy expansion to the 2003 game of the year. A little short, but not as bad as other reviewers are implying. Levels are VERY challenging, including one insanely difficult part where you are fighting in Noville and you have to protect Sgt. Moody and he's constantly dying(Hint: shoot the sniper in the upper story window of the house next to the destroyed half-track). Protecting him in Brecourt wasn't this hard. Sure it's scripted, but it's a little better than the original. Is it any less challenging or fun? NO.Right now I'm on the Pyori mission, Russia, in the factory. Finally they start you with a gun and ammo! The best expansion to any game I have ever played.
Best Expansion Ever!!!

This game is great. I loved Call of Duty, and this makes it even better. There's tanks, jeeps, and my favorite, mobile mg's. On my 2.53ghzP4 with 512mb ram and a Geforce 4 mx 64mb, it runs at 1024x748 resolution with med/high details at a constant 40-60 fps. Multiplayer is very fun, so fun that I havent even tried Single Player yet!!. Great game 5/5 stars. It takes up more hard drive space than the orignal Call of Duty though....around 2.5 gigs...Anyways, go buy it right now

I became familiar with Call of Duty by buying Call of Duty 2 first. I then got Call of Duty and finally the expansion pack. Overall I found United Offensive too easy and less than exciting. The graphics are OK but not nearly as good as COD2. Any encounters involving smoke slow the game down considerably, even though I have a powerful video card. I breezed through the game in less than eight hours, something I have never managed before with a first person shooter game. Even the level involving the B-17 was easy and I expected it to be much more difficult.
Overall it was OK but not what I had hoped, given the quality of COD and COD2. I look forward to an expansion pack for COD2, but if they don't make it more difficult or more interesting, then there is no need to bother.
Too frustrating to be fun

Some levels are far too difficult to be fun even on the 'easy' setting--the Foy church tower comes to mind, among several others. It's a thin line between challenge and frustration. It's no fun to do the same levels over and over without result, and it should not be necessary to constantly use cheats to get through the levels.
most fun and realistic combat game

This game is incredible in replay value when compared to regular Call of Duty. The AI is so advanced that you are now able to realistically sneak around an enemy position and ambush them. I Highly reccomend this game for anyone and especially fans of the series.

Call of Duty United Offensive is a great game but it is significantly different from the others. There is a strategy that requires you to figure out the Right manner of fighting this particular battle or immediately being blow away, repeatidly. The game must be viewed as a Team effort vs. Call of Duty 2 which allows for much individual effort. The graphics and weaponry and sound effects make you "feel" the action and realize the horrific nature of war; but especially the fatalistic realities of certain large battles--if you live,it is by the "Grace of GOD' and not human cunning or abilities... If you like shooting games, this is one of the best and more than worth your $.
Good if you love being the Russians

If you're into being the technology challenged Russian army, this is for you. If you like to actually have a weapon to fire, maybe not so much. I exaggerate. This is a good game with a few more hiccups than the original COD, but there are parts that are just plain awful to try to get through, and I personally got sick of constantly being part of the Russian army. Those parts seemed to drag whereas the rest was fun.

A very worthy expansion to a superb game. It not only continues the game, it has enhancements like the ability to Sprint and to "cook off" grenades before throwing.
Multiplayer is likewise awesome, now with the addition of drivable vehicles. The maps are spectacular and absolutely gigantic, some to the point that you simply can't cross them in any reasonable time without doing it in a jeep.
It's a very, very worthy addition for little cost.
