If you own half-life, this is all you need. if you don't, it's worth paying for both half-life and this. In fact, you might as well delete every other game you have because this is the only one you will be playing. That's right. Only this. Not everquest, not quake. It's all about the CT's and the T's. and C4. You can never have enough of that. I said it doesnt get any better then this. I was wrong. It gets better with every update. DOWNLOAD THE BETA RIGHT NOW...

you will NOT be disappointed. I promise.

A REALLY FUN ADDICTING MULTI-PLAYER GAME!

Features: This game features pretty nice graphics, realistic damage, and easy controls. There are hundreds of maps to choose from to play in, as well as dozens of great weapons. It is an extremely addicting mutli-player game that sharpens your reflexes, aim, awareness, and much more.

Comments: This game is REALLY fun and addicting. It's a great way to spend time with your friends, believe it or not...killing each other. If you have 56k, then I suggest that you DO NOT buy this game. Only people with DSL, LAN, or higher should play because then you will lag and your gameplay will be spoiled. I admit, this game can get tiring, frustrating, and you may begin to get bored with it, but the majority of people are in love with it and continue to play for years to come. For best performance and gameplay, you need AT LEAST DSL and a very decent, fast computer. It's a great game! =]

Half-Life: Counter-Strike is a very basic but fun loving that can appeal to anyone who's ready to shoot a few people. CS, although not the most advanced fps is a great shooter in its own right. The game is about two diffrent sides, one counter-terrorists, the other terrorists. Both teams go up against each to other to do various missions. The missions consist of planting bombs, getting VIP's out of trouble and saving hostages. The other way that you can win are killing the opposing force while still having living teamates or having youself live. Although there are only a few specified missions and it seems very basic, trust me the game will keep you playing for days and days.

CS consists of real weapons and variety of them. The great thing about these weapons are that the sounds are actually taken from the weapons, giving you a real time feel of each and every weapon. There are a variety of pistols, shotguns, sub machine guns, (assualt or sniper) rifles, and machine guns. Of course however, your not going to be able to buy all these weapons right from the get go. You must win rounds, kill people or attempt to rescue hostages to get money. If you dont you will lose money making it harder to win because now you have less money to spend on guns. Dont think that you can only spend that money on guns though, try spending it on grenades, helmets to protect from from headshots, kevlars which are body armor, primary ammo (your top gun ammo), secondary ammo (your pistol ammo) and other accesories like defuser kits and night vision.

CS has a basic setup that works. When your put into the game you will start off with a pistol (they are diffrent for terrorists and counter terrorists) a knife and a radio for radio commands. Radio commands can tell your partners everything from if you need backup to the enemy is spotted to get in position and even saying cover me. When you start off the basic amount of money is 800.00 to spend on a new pistol, grenades and other accesories. In the game you have options to put weapons and such in, each with a specific reason. You can hold a primary weapon (optional), a pistol(optional), a knife (mandatory), a grenade (optional), and one accesory which is optional (kevlars and helmets dont count.)

The games graphics are semi par. There not excellent but not horrible. There something you'd expect from the late 90's. They do get better depending on how good your graphics card is. The speed of the bame is great. However if you have a slow computer you should stick to training mode until your computer is faster. The great thing about the speed is that if you lag (latency is not fast) then its your problem, not anyone else's. If you dont lag you'll be fine. Beware though, some servers lag and make a whole game lag.

All in all a great game filled with basic shoot em up fun. It gets even more fun when you have plenty of friends to play with or if you have joined a clan and you play with your clan. My adivce is definitly look into the game if your skeptical about if your not go out there and buy it

because you'll be playing it for hours on end -- that is if you don't end up breaking your computer. While the game is fun and entertaining for those who like first person shooting games, there are plenty of insolent people who roam the online community hoping to anger you. Other then that, it's pretty fun for LAN parties and is still getting constantly updated. The replability value is extremely high -- however, there is no plot and story line for those who crave it -- just endless point click and shoot.

Bang.

Keep in mind that this is a multiplayer online game and a FREE modification of the single player game halflife. You should just buy halflife instead (for the same price) and download this game for free off the official website. Deserves 1 star less for that.

First of all, dont get me wrong this is one of the best mod/games ever. But the mods included on the game can all be downloaded free from the internet. So what do you want to sacrifice? 30 smackers or some time downloading online?

Well lets just get a few things clear on why this game [stinks]. First of all when you get it you will find out you have to download about 6 hours of updates! Well after I did that I went to play a multiplayer game and quickly found out the graphics well arn't "up to code" we'll say. This game would be great if you barley want any realism at all, as in you can spray out bullets on full auto and have no accuracy problems. To top it all off once you wait 30 minutes to get in a game, you can hardly hold a connection for 5 minutes before you have got a message Surver has been lost or something like that. If you want a good shooting game and a GREAT multiplayer gam buy Rouge Spear, which is much more realistic!

Great Game, But I'll Get to the One Star

Counter-Strike is a spectacular mod for a spectacular game. Half-Life, though somewhat outdated now, is still one of the best FPS games ever made. The gameplay is superb, and the mods that have spawned from the game are great in their own right. Counter-Strike is one of those great mods. Counter-Stike is so great, that Sierra decided to sell a retail version of the game. This is why I am giving this only one star, in spite of the spectacularness of the game. Go to pretty much any website where games can be downloaded, and you can get this game, provided you have Half-Life, for free. Yes for free. The file however, is fairly large, but even so, it is probably worse to buy a game you can get for free than it is to leave a slow internet connection on all night so you can get this game. Basically, this game is great, and though it is worth the price, it is still available for free, so that price isn't worth it.

First, I'll say that this is probably the most over-rated game I have ever encountered. That doesn't say anything about the game, just the hype people give it. Overall I'd say it's satisfactory.

People express their awe of it's dedication to realism. This should annoying to people who actually know what it would be like to at least fire a gun. I don't consider people firing the AK-47 from the hip on full automatic with half the accuracy you can in the game as realistic. Especially when they're running around. I don't consider people accurately sniping using a scope while running and jumping around as realistic. You have to look through the scope at an exact angle, the fastest you'd be able to move while using the scope would be a careful walk. These are just some of many distortions of reality you can find hin this game.

For some reason, most CS players are very immature and annoying. Their only concern appears to be their statistics, and if that means camping while everyone has to wait 2 minutes for the round to end, so be it. Team work is usually nonexistant as well. Team members are hardly more than players you just don't shoot.

Don't let the hostages and bomb sites fool you, CS is basically a deathmatch game. Mostly mindless killing here.

Despite all this, CS can be an OK game. It can be fun when you accept the game for what it truely is. That, and you'll need a good server with the right kind of players. If you're an average gamer, the mindless killing will probably satisfy your desires.

If you're a gamer looking for a more realistic game, Day of Defeat will be a better bet.

This game was probably one of the best ever until.... Now even on my T1 connection it's jerky, the models are now terrible looking, and it just isn't fun to play anymore. It actually makes me sad to say, as I miss playing it.
