...this modification has continued to make a two year old game the most widely played game on the internet. what does that tell you?

there is a semi-steep learning curve to this game, and it is very difficult to become great at, but it can be done with time. even with the frustration factor of this game being very high at times, it is still one of the most incredible games available to play.

i am part of a cisco networking class, and one of the first things people in my class did was create a network and put on counterstrike. everyone in the gaming field knows about counterstrike. counterstrike is god. well, godly.

anyways, buy it, download it, whatever, just GET IT.

Back? Good. Then you've no doubt noticed the average review of 5 stars. This is good. Very good. Unless someone gave it fewer stars to mess me up, I think this should speak for itself. In case they did let's recap:

There are many people telling you that you need this game. I would say that I agree with them. What the vast majority of them are NOT doing is telling you why.

The success of this mod, while not completely unprecedented, it probably is the most recent example of what a game engine can be: a tool that, in the proper hands, does more than the tool inventor ever invisioned.

Counter-Strike is a game that is difficult to learn. There are many things that are new and unique to this game which explains why it is so popular. For example: you need to purchase weapons, you can not 'heal' yourself back to 100%, locational damage is good and bad, when you die you must wait until the end of the round to re-join the game. First time players who expect the mindless rampage of Quake will be very frustrated.

Patience pays off. After an hour or two of play, an individual can maneuver the beautiful and balanced maps. The reason people flock to the game is that there is always something new to learn, plus when you are killed, you have an opportunity to break from the edge-of-your-seat action and chat (in-game) with the other dead players. It becomes both a gaming and a social event.

The magic of this game can not be captured in words. Mona Lisa is a nice painting of a woman. Counter-Strike is a great game.

I play Counter-Strike for like 1 year and it's the best mod ever created for Half-Life !

Well, first off if you've played any other shoot 'em up, you'll probabally be no stranger to CS, you'll probably get used to the system quite easily.
Counter Strike is a game I like to play every Saturday with my friends down at a Internet Cafe. It's extremely good fun playing with your friends (and killing them) however, there are just some things about CS that I do not like.

Fact is, once you're dead...you're dead, you have to wait for the next game to come back alive. Also, they've included real guns in the game, however they've used fake names for them, for example in the real world there is a weapon called the H&K MP5, but in this its got a fake name something like K&M...
Grahpics are ok, but you either get a beefcake character or a skinny rake character. As for the game modes, not very varied, just hostage rescue, bomb defusal etc. Also, games are too short, games only last 5 to 10 minutes, which just isn't long enough.

YOU HAVE TO HAVE INTERNET OR LAN CONNECTION TO PLAY COUNTER STRIKE!!!!!! There is NO single player missions AT ALL, except a pitiful excuse for a Training mission. If you want a Counter Strike clone that has, better weapons, better gameplay, and better everything, I suggest you get Global Operations, however, Counter-Strike is still a decent game and can provide hours of fun when playing with friends that you know well.

I'll make this short and sweet for you. I went to a cyber cafe so I can play this "gem" and see what all the fuss is about on this game. OVERRATED. I have no idea how people prais this as "THE BEST GAME IN THE WORLD!!"...How silly, This game is just plain average.. If you wanna play a nice Game from Valve..I don't need to tell you but I'll give you a hint....H***f L*fe...This game is just pure garbage and the Online is boring...And I don't need your flaming or bashing just cause One mans opinion differs from yours..

Best Half-Life Mod

Well, like I said, it is the best Half-Life Mod. But don't buy it, download it. The only reason I would buy this game is if I had a slow connection like a 56k modem. Even then, gameplay is going to be a little bit choppy and you are going to be at a slight disadvantage to the rest of us with cable and DSL service. But back to the game, It has a very innovative idea being once you die, you are dead (for that round). Rounds usually last around 5 minutes or until everyone from one team dies. Speaking of teams, there are two of them, terrorists and special forces teams (like Rainbow Six). Unfortunately there is only one type of gameplay though, cops rescue hostages. That is it. I like the game as a whole but if you haven't been playing it for the last year then you are going to get tore up by those of us who have been playing. Good luck to those who try this game and happy fragging.

I give credit to the graphics but this game is no different then most Multiplayers...I played this at a computer/arcade place er what ever there called nd I didn't like the game that much...

The gameplay is alright but Nothing special....BUT IT IS FUN WHEN YOU'RE PLAYING WITH FRIENDS I CAN TELLYOU THAT But over all it's very overrated...
