THPS is the most realistic skateboarding game out there. The only game worth playing before that was SKATE OR DIE, and that was a while back. This is what I've been waiting for. I'm not bragging, but I've honestly butchered the playstation version. Many others have, also, cuz it's a game you can't put down until you've either destroyed it for the night or are getting comatose from trying. I've been skating in real life for 12 years, and I've seen skating go through highs and low lows over the years. It's funny to play against a non-skater, cuz they don't understand what they're doing, they just know it's fun. THPS has a universal flavor to it, accessible to anyone who wants to bust out skillz and perfect their personal style. Style, a factor that hasn't been considered in many other sports games. By the way, skateboarding still isn't truly considered a sport, but more of a hobby. Extreme Games.........a game? What seems more like a game, bouncing a ball on a hardwood floor or ollieing over a handrail and taking a 14 foot drop straight down (Jamie Thomas)? Right, I thought so. Sounds to me like "sport" isn't even appropriate. Maybe skateboarding will get it's due respect after all the kids that used to dis skating play this game. We shall see.................
Want fun buy this game.

I have had this game for years and now I have Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 on the Gamecube. Despite how much better the GC version is, I LOVE this game. The levels never get boring nor does the gameplay (especially the multiplayer!!!). If the only system you have is the '64 then DONT BUY THPS2! This game is a lot better than the N64 version of THPS2. If you want a true classic N64 game that never gets boring then BUY THIS ONE!!!!!

Well what can I say? If you are at all familiar with skateboarding you know who Tony Hawk is. If not then I must tell you that he is a living legend. In this new game you can BE Tony for yourself. You, yes, you can be the legend if just for a while. This game is the most intense skateboarding game on the market today. You have multiple levels and each of them has 5 different challenges to tantalize your creative mind. Once you learn the basic grind, flip-tricks, and grabs you can make combinations of them and rack up some killer points. Plus doing these combos will help you win competions in really great skateparks. Skateboarding is illegal where I live but I am still grinding all I want!

So I was stupid and bought the game twice, one for N64, and 1 for Playstation. Honestly, I think the platstation vesion is better because the controls are easier, but even if you buy the n64 version, you still wont regret it! I like the N64 version because I think it's a lot easier to move your character. I've never tried the Dreamcast version, but im guessing it's probaly somewhere in between. The game is awesome, it's so easy to skate and do tricks! I mastered all the moves in both versions. Honestly, I love skateboarding, I bought so many different skateboarding games, but Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is by far the best!

This is a great, great game! I have no interest in skateboarding at all. Happened to play a friends copy and was addicted from the first moment I figured out how to do tricks. I went and bought my own copy that day and have been hooked since. Two player mode is even more fun than single player. This is a game you must own if you have a playstation!
I'd write more, but I have rails to grind...

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is the most addictive game I've ever played. There's something very subtle about it that keeps you coming back for more. And more. And more. Nothing really jumps out at you at first. The graphics, even with the Expansion Pack, are somewhat blurry, and while they're very nice in some areas, they look somewhat cartoony in others. The sound effects are excellent, from the rolling of the wheels to the the sound of your board grinding across a rail, but by the same token, the music is heavily compressed and is of about the same quality of a worn-out cassette. Ok, nothing special so far, so what is it exactly that makes THPS such a joy to play? The answer is expertly designed levels and a simple-yet-elegant control shceme. These two strengths compliment each other, and that is the subtlety that makes the game impossible to put down. What do I mean by that? Well, the control setup allows you not only to pull off sickening tricks from grabs to grinds to flips, but also allows you to string moves together for amazing combos - not to mention tons of points! The great thing is, the levels are designed in such a way that encourages these combos. For instance, you might go off a big jump, pull off a Benihana, and land on a well-placed railing and grind down it without stopping. Add to that the fact that any object in the game can be interacted with (grind on curbs, & pool lips, jump off of walkways, ect.) and bustin combos will become second nature. This game will appeal to anyone - skater or non-skater - who loves addictive, fun, unique gameplay (and who doesn't?) . HIGHLY recommended!
buy it!

This game is amazing. Once you learn how to grind, grab, and spin, you need to combine them to get more points. The worlds you skate in are enormous, and everything from the handrails to thee flowerboxes to the picnic tables is rideable. In two player, there is the graffiti mode and the HORSE mode. in graffiti, you try to hit the most ramps and leave your mark, and in horse, you have to match a trick your opponent does or face a letter This game is a great value, with unlimited replay.
