"Message" is the first Nancy Drew Pc game that I have tried and I was very favorably impressed. The game is literate: it is not directed towards very young players per se and young people will have to read well to appreciate the many tidbits of literature scattered around the Victorian mansion. I am 76 and could read them quite well. :)

The sets are beautifully rendered in elegant color and the Chinese antiques are a feast for the eye. The characters are well animated with gestures that are completely natural. The voices are good, too.

"Message" is Nirvana for the Point and Click enthusiasts. No expert mouse maneuvers are required such as jumping into a fast moving bucket in "Uru." Nothing is timed. We take our PC games very seriously and it is an affront to the ego when one isn't fast enough to perform an intricate mouse gyration. In fact, I could get stage fright just looking at a high ledge I knew I had to vault upon and therefore couldn't perforn at all.

"Message" is scary. This is by no means a plain dish of vanilla. There are creaks and groans and shadowy forms passing in the night. Atmosphere plus. And you can wander around just as you wish poking into this and that and getting a delicious scary thrill when a curtain suddenly billows into your face with hissing sound.

Captions are provided which are very helpful as the characters speak rapidly. All in all "Message in a Haunted Mansion" is a very solid piece of work for all ages.

I LOVED IT!!I'm a Huge Nancy Drew fan and when I saw they had Nancy Drew games I was thrilled! It was exciting, and sometimes a little scary.Once in a while I got stuck in a puzzle or something, but if you do get stuck, you can always go to their website and ask questions.I liked the charactors a lot,my favorite charactor was Abby(because she was kinda spooky).I enjoyed doing the puzzles alot too. After I finished this game,I bought another one as fast as I could.I would definitely recommend this to Nancy Drew fans!!

This is by far the best computer game I have ever played. It's interesting to have conversations with the various people who visit (or live in) the mansion. It seems as if everyone has something to hide, and you feel totally creeped out as you walk through the halls, listening to the eerie music and occasionally see a spirit walk past. There are a lot of interesting features to this game, including acts of vandalism and an actual seance! The game is challenging and yet possible to finish, and while there is a path you're intended to follow, there is enough leeway in the game for you to make your own choices and complete various tasks in your own time, in your own order. Senior mode can be a little frustrating if you haven't played often, so I would recommend starting off in Junior mode. You can call your friends, Bess and George (who are conveniently always together and always available, even in the wee hours of the morning) for help if you get stuck; somehow they seem to know the outcome of the mystery ahead of time, so they always have advice. There are a lot of nooks and crannies to explore in the mansion, and there are quite a few interesting discoveries you'll make as you make your way through the mansion, solving the mystery. This game is very exciting and I would recommend it to anyone who likes Nancy Drew, or just anyone who likes a good mystery.

I thought "Nancy Drew Message in a Haunted Mansion" was a great game. This game makes me want to play again and again. It's just so fun to ask diffrent questions to the same characters and to see there different reactions. The 1st time I played I missed some things and i figured out new things. It was so fun to see what I missed and I could make that up. You would learn a lot of things by solving every little puzzle in this game. I recommend to anyone who loves mystery, suspense, action, and just a fun time play "Nancy Drew Message in a Haunted Mansion". You won't want to miss this game! : )

I may not have beaten it yet but I already know I love it. I'm ten years old and I know ghosts are so made up but this game still leaves me shivering at night every day I play it. If you like being mystified and surprised you'll love this darkly dramatic and exciting game of action and terror!

Looking for some quality family time?

My two daughters (ages 7 and 9) and I just finished playing this wonderful computer game. We all contributed to the successful conclusion of the game, too; each of us noticed different clues, or remembered certain details. The game is "G" rated, and definitely appropriate for school-age children, yet exciting enough to keep adults involved, and not at all babyish. It was hard to tear ourselves away from the game at the conclusion of each day! We are anxious to try the other two games in this series, and I sincerely hope that the company makes many more.

Great for adults too.

If you like a good mystery but don't like to shoot everything that moves, this is a good game. I'm a 30 year old mom and I really enjoyed this game. I played it on the Senior level and found it challenging.

Great Game 10+++

This game is so great. It's the best game in the Nancy Drew CD ROM series. Message in a Haunted Mansion is full of suspense. Although this is a wonderful game, it may scare some children. I even jumped out of my seat sometimes! But don't let that stop you from buying this game, The other games are Stay Tuned for Danger, my next fave. Then my least fave is Secrets can Kill, but it's still good. I have not played Treasure in the Royal Tower yet. The Final Scene will be released Nov. 7th which you can pre-order here

Great! Fun! And Thrilling!

I have read every one of the Nancy Drew books and was always a big fan. I was delighted when I saw this game in the store. This is the first Nancy Drew computer game that I got and boy am I hooked.
In Nancy Drew: Message in a Haunted Mansion, you, Nancy Drew, are asked to come to the mansion to investigate the unusual things that have been happening. You get to travel the mansion, look for clues, and talk to the suspects. Along the way you can find secret panels, rooms, doors, etc. Everyone has a motive and means to be behind the mysterious happenings at the mansion, but only one is the culprit. Even though I know it is just a game, I still felt that chill run down my spine and that impending sense of danger.
There are two levels in this game, Junior and Senior.
The Junior level is a lot easier and you get most clues read out loud to you. Special clues are illuminated and if you get stuck or don't know what to do, you can call Bess and George to get help.
The Senior level is a little harder.(Of course) You don't get the clues read out loud to you and well, you have to do more thinking for yourself.
But in either level, the villian is still the same. Remember to get all the tools that you can and that everything that is specially pointed out to you is very important. Take notes!
This is a really good game! A must for all adventureous and daring girls of all ages! I'm sure that the other Nancy Drew computer games are just as good, but this one is great!
Just a final note- Remember, what goes up, must come down.

Terrific Game

This is a great Nancy Drew game. This is the only one that I've played, but it has to be be one of the best. Most computer games are only fun for one person to play, but the whole family can play this one. I feel really stupid when I get freaked out because I know it's a computer game. It is a really great mystery and I recommend it for anyone who likes solving mysteries and puzzles. You don't have to like Nancy Drew to play this game. It is the BEST!
