Fun at first but boring and repetitive after awhile.

At first the game is a blast. It was very addictive and fun watching a city grow. I spent hours designing New York City.

However, after you play it for a few weeks, it becomes extremely repetitive and boring. You are doing the same thing over and over again. There is no challenge to this. The huge layout is a plus if you are interested in making your city look as realistic as possible. However, if you don't have infinite amounts of free time on hand then you'll never have the time to build up your entire city. I'll admit I have not played the scenario mode that often, so I can't rate it on that issue.

The best SimCity ever

This game is awesome. So much fun to build and manage cities and a region. You start with an empty piece of land and some money. A while later that land will have turned into a sprawling metropolis. You manage the cities funds for things like airports and police coverage. Set bus stops and place subway lines. Build bustling city centers and sprawling suburbs around them. You are God. Send a tornado to destroy your city. Do whatever you want. With websites like Simtropolis, this game is made even greater. Buy this game and your eyes will open to a whole new world of fun.

The over-all game play experience is great. There are a few changes that could be made to make it more play-able. Such as, how about an elevated avenue crossing for inter-sataes and rail lines. A move-able camera view to see the stuff behind other graphics. More than one city in a LARGE zone would be cool too. A "ghost" rendering of adjacent zones would be nice too, to allow accurate matching of rail and hi ways.
Alot of people think that the inter-face isn't right. It isn't "intuitive" enough. Heck, most of the fun is figuring out how to do something.
After playing the game for two days straight, I came away with a new and thorough understanding of just how difficult it is to manage a city effectively. It even changed some of my feelings toward the mayor of my real life home city.

Seriously read over the system requirements

I haven't bought a computer game in well over two years, but when I saw Sim City 4 and its expansion pack, Rush Hour, for a measly 15 dollars on Amazon, I figured it's not much of a loss.

So after three or four days, I got the game. Much to my displeasure, it was just problem after problem after problem. First off, the game didn't come in the traditional box that games come in when you buy it from a store. Oh no no, it had to come in a plastic case similar to a DVD case. I don't know if this is just how games are packaged now, or if it was an EA thing, but when I tried to install the game, it asked for a CD key. The game itself said that the CD key could be found "in the white square on the back of the cd case." Well, this game didn't come with a CD case. Hmmm. So I thought I'd consult the installation guide for some help. Fortunately, the installation guide said the key was "on the back of this guide." Well, it wasn't. I checked the guide from front to back, and no CD key. Finally, I checked the only other information included with the game, which was the actual game guide. And lo and behold, there was the key. In the WHITE SQUARE on the BACK of the GAME GUIDE. So I continued with the installation.

At 48.49%, (I was surprised the installation was measured by a percentage that went into the hundredths place) the installer asked me to insert disc 2. So I did. And the installer freezes. So I figured, "I'll wipe the disc a little and try again." So I reach 48.49% again, and it prompts me for the 2nd disc again. So I put it in. And it freezes again. Now I'm getting peeved. So I took the disc out, and to my wonder, the installer unfroze. Yeah, it froze when I put in disc 2 to complete the installation.

So I checked the EA website, and they had steps for installing it from your hard drive instead of from the CD. So I followed that, and when the time came to install part 2, it simply gave me "disc 2 cannot be found." Now I'm out of ideas for what to do.

At this point, the only thing stopping me from calling up EA and giving them a piece of my mind was the fact that the game was only 15 dollars. I like to comfort myself by thinking that this game was 15 dollars because it's a load of garbage.

I gave this game a 2 out of 5 because EA did a good job promoting the game. Despite the game not actually working, I was convinced to buy it and was excited to receive it.

Paving the Way of the Future for SIM Games

SimCity 4, Deluxe Edition, was one of the best buys I have ever done in a long time. Compared to SimCity 3000, which you really can't even compare to anymore, is light years ahead! SimCity4 or SC4 does everything now. Literally. There is day and night in your city, and new scenery to view. All of the buildings are new, except for your favorite landmarks of course, which don't change in shape! To add to the fun, you can add your "Sims" from, you got it, "The Sims," another game from Maxis and EA Games. To top it off, you personally interact with your city in a new level that has never been experienced before by the older Sim City games...you can drive anything that moves! From the U.S. Army's AH-64 Apache and the M1A2 Abrams Tank to your own personal limo. Of course if you like sirens and lights, the police car or the ambulance is for you! You can also fly a multitude of helicopters, accomplishing "missions" accumulating either cash for your city's coffers or mayor rating points, which are also good. Which one you want is up to you!

When I first saw this computer game in a book order, I really wanted it. Then the book order expired, so I couldn't order it. Still excited, I went to Target and split the price with my sister who also wanted it. We both paid twenty dollars and agreed it was a waste of money. Although it was pretty fun, it really costed way too much. Mostly in this game, you zone land, build schools and hospitals and other things. But you can't even really see your sims, except when you move in very close with your mouse or by pressing six, then you see little people walking around. Also, you can create some sims by choosing out of about twenty faces, and giving them a name and a symbol that represents them. This is a fun game, but I was a little disappointed.

Too many problems

This game is too challenging. I bought Sim City 2000 and enjoyed it fairly well, even though it too was too difficult. This game is worse than Sim City 2000 because the land is far too small. The night and day stuff isn't all that great. Also, though the game did work on my computer, I hear it doesn't work on many machines. Plus, despite quite unspectacular graphics, the game will eat up space on your computer! There are many better games out there, and for the price and risk, this one's not worth it.
