I can't install this game as it came with no registration number to unlock the cd and begin the installation process. Have contacted EA, but won't hold my breath!
What a mess!

Nearly every good idea or advancement they promised, has been implemented badly. And oddly enough, everything fun and addictive about previous versions has been forgotten. This game actually gets worse the more you play.
Just a few problems with this game are:
A poor interface with few options - No multiple saves here.
Bad "terrascaping" tools. Worse than SC2000
Circa 1999 graphics. (despite killing your system's specs)
No real "regional" play - Time stops in parts of your city not played. So one can throw all the 'junk' in those parts, and it will never actually affect your played "cities".
Horrible AI/pathfinding -cars drive in circles and sims can't get to work right across the street.
This game has MANY more horrid mistakes, too many to list here.
The bad AI within SC Deluxe is especially damaging because nearly every factor in one's city runs off of your citizens abilities to commute- (jobs, land values, pollution, costs, etc.) not even mentioning traffic congestion problems!
SimCity 4 Deluxe is NOT a game for thinkers and observant gamers, as they will quickly see a game that should never have been released. It is just that awful.
If I had a chance to play it...........

I was so excited to wake up on Christmas and find this gift under the tree. I followed the instructions, but it wouldn't work. Once the percentage on the instalation reached 100% it showed us a picture of a suspension bridge and froze the computer, I reinstalled it four times, but it didn't work. Then, My Aunt and Uncle came over for xmas dinner, they are both computer scientists, and after four hours of trying to fix it, but it still didn't work. I am a VERY dissipointed eleven year old girl. Merry Christmas

I ordered the Simcity 4 Deluxe Edition pack as a Christmas gift this year and was disappointed to find out the product is defective. There is no registration/serial code included in the package so the game cannot be installed or played at all.
I have checked online on various gaming websites and discovered that this is not unique to my individual unit, but a widespread problem occurring for units within the last 2-3 months. Still, there is no FAQ on EA's support website that addresses the issue and their technical support (which is long-distance, NOT a 1-800 number) currently has 20+ minute wait time, steadily INCREASING in 5 minute increments. It is pathetic that I will have to spend money calling them for a problem they most likely cannot fix over the phone anyway.
Overall, an extremely disappointing experience with EA. It will be a long time before I bother purchasing one of their titles again.
EA has quality problem

I bought 2 copies of this game, neither of which had a 20-digit registration code included in the package. Evidently this is a well-known problem (as I discovered afterwards).
EA clearly has a quality-control problem. I would recommend *against* buying any of their stuff ever.
Oh, if I want to mail $10 to EA, write up my 'problem' I can do so. They will then determine if I'm worthy of a registration code (some weeks later). What a scam!!

I was looking forward to playing this updated version of Sim City and was very disappointed, to say the least. My computer has all the necessary hardware and software to run the program and it is still very slow and frustrating to play. The graphics are not much better than prior versions and overall the gameplay takes forever! If you have nothing else to do with your day you maybe better served watching grass grow.
Wouldn't run at all!!!

This wouldn't run at all on my grandson's computer, because it requires a WHOPPING 1.2GB (yes GB) of FREE disk space, just to install it!!!!
Now I have to buy him a new computer just to run this game! Aaargh!
Will not run on Win2K system

This game exemplifies the asymmetrical power relationship between the software companies and the consumer. While the company appears to promise the software will work if the system requirements posted on the outside of the box are met, unfortunately this is not the case.
While my system meets all stated requirements, the game will not play. All drivers have been checked and updated.
Keep in mind that to reach this point, it was necessary to open the package, thus precluding a return/refund at the place of purchase.
I have no reason to believe that purchase of a new graphics card, sound card, or even a new computer, will result in a working game.
There is no recourse short of a lawsuit.
Even if only one user has found the game will not work on his computer (assuming it meets the printed system requirements on the package) you should be forewarned that to purchase the software means you assume genuine economic risk: you are betting your purchase price that your experience will be different.
The Amazon form requires that I select at least one star. Clearly a game that will not play warrants no stars.

My game came without the product code required for activation. Apparently this is a well-known problem. I suggest you avoid this game until the problem is fixed, or pruchase it at a retail location where you can open the box to confirm that an activation code is present.
