This is "the" game that I can't stop playing. If you liked Simcity 3000 then you will love Simcity 4.

I think this is the best version of the Sim City series so far, even including the new 3000 version. I really don't get what's going on in that one, so I tend to play this one (4) even more. I've always enjoyed being the mayor since the first version way back. I think every mayor should be required to play and 'win' this game before taking office!

I don't find this game to be as fun to play as the previous incarnation. First of all, there are a number of things I do like about this version:
1) I like the idea of the megalopolis--separate city regions being able to interact.
2) I like the new transportation options: street types and ferries.

But the disadvantages I've experienced outweigh the plusses:
1) Less flexibility in geographical design. I really liked how the previous version allowed you to generate a variety of geographical choices, randomly with some input as to amount of land vs. water and where these were.
2) Much more difficult to balance the budget. Playing 3000, although sometimes a challenge to get the right balance between services and taxes, I eventually got the right equilibrium down so that I could at least play the game. In this version, most of my cities are so far in debt, there's no way to play them. I found it to be too frustrating and so stopped playing.

I like the SimCity game, and I'm looking forward to seeing the next version. I'm hoping to see some improvement.

My son really enjoys it.

Best SimCity yet

I have had this game for 3 years now and it's still enjoyable, playable, and challenging. For the price that is runs for now, people shouldn't think it any less of a game simply because it's not the orginal $50, or the $50 that new games run.

I have had a few issues, it has sometimes stopped for no reason and disappeared from my screen. I have now learned to use the save function.

Other than that, it's a great game.

Nice open strategy game

This game is great and you can find a lot of user-created content in the net to have more fun. Sometimes it can be frustrating at times but it's really nice to build your city (or region) from scratch and take it to very high levels, have a lot of people and let them live in wonderful urbanistic paradises or make their lives a living-hell in a terrible looking and badly planned metropolis. This game is never over, you can play and play and the fun will never stop... until SimCity 5 comes out...

As a kid, I loved SimCity2000, but hadn't played any of the more recent Sim games until I got to this one. This is everything 2000 was, plus loads more. The interface is easy to use, the gameplay is intuative, but it is definitely not too easy - I've had a couple of failed cities on Hard difficulty. The Deluxe Edition is worth it, it seems to add a lot more neat features.
