Rogue Leader is the perfect Star Wars flight simulation. From the detail on the Imperial Star Destroyers to the vivid soundtrack, this game has everything a Star Wars fan could imagine. Personally, my favoritie levels are those where you control a TIE Fighter and fight for the Empire. If you love Star Wars, you owe it to yourself to play this game.
Absolutely the best!!

This game is the best Star Wars game I have ever played. The graphics and very detailed backgrounds and ships are great. The controls are great and the levels are excellent(11 excellent ones to be exact). Every Star Wars game needs blowing enemy time and this game has a lot of it. Overall I would say this game is one on the best Gamecube games, actually one of the best games ever!

Rogue Squadron 2 is a visually spectacular video game. It's one of the best games currently available for the gamecube. If you' re a Star Wars fan you will absolutely love this game because it's almost like you're in the movie fighting against the Empire (and there are 2 missions where you can take control of Darth Vader's Advanced TIE fighter and battle the rebel alliance). When you see the little details that went into this game you will be saying "HOLY CRAP!". The only downside to the game is that it is VERY VERY difficult and frustrating at times. The missions themselves are quite easy but to unlock the hidden levels (which are by far the best levels in the game), and all of the ships, you have to win medals. The requirements for achieveing the medals are almost insane. You will pull your hair out if you try and win all the bronze, silver, and gold medals on each level. I had to use cheat codes to unlock all the levels, ships, and tech upgrades because i don't have the time to sit in front of the tv and watse time unlocking everything. Keep this in mind if you' re interested in Rogue Squadron 2. Maybe you should rent it first or play it at a friend's house. Also the upcoming game "The Clone Wars" will be almost the same format of Rogue Squadron 2 but is based on the events after the second movie, so check out "The Clone Wars" also, as it promises to be even better than RS2.
Star Wars fans MUST HAVE this game!

This game is only $30, and it's one of my top 10 games of all time. The first mission is the attack on the Death Star from the end of A New Hope! You have to pilot a T-65 X-Wing through the trench on the Death Star to the exhaust port! But watch out Vader's on your ass, he even says "The Force is strong with this one". And Obi-Wan is with you "Use the Force Luke". As you get closer to the port some one comes over the radio saying "Luke, you switched off your targeting computer. What's wrong?", "Nothing I'm all right". That mission alone makes the game worth buying, hell, it makes the GameCube worth buying. Other missions include The Battle of Hoth, The Battle of Endor, and even the Escape From the Death Star (using the Falcon's turrets to fend off incoming TIE's). You can unlock ships like the Slave 1, the B-Wing, The X-1 Advance (Vader's TIE Fighter) and even the Naboo N-1 star fighter! All the missions and ships have a little description into their history. For example: "An illegally modified, Corilean Engineered YT-1300 transport, The Millenium Falcon, is one of the more formidable star ships in the galaxy. Owned and piloted by Han Solo and his Wookie partner Chewbacca..." I could go on and on. There is a chase camera view, but that sucks compared to the cockpit view. You can even turn your head to check out your ship, or make sure your wingmates are by your side. The graphics make this game clearer and more detailed than the movie it self. You will NOT be disappointed
The Best Star Wars Game Ever Made

I've been a long-time gamer, and I've played nearly every console game based on the "Star Wars" universe to date. I have to say that this game is, without a doubt, the absolute best Star Wars game ever made. The usual factors to consider are the graphics and sound effects, both of which are astounding. This game takes full advantage of the Gamecubes' abilities. In the N64 game "Rogue Squadron", when the X-Wing fighter fired the blasters, a shot was issued from all four cannons at once. In this game, the four cannons fire independently of each other, one at a time. This gives you a constant barrage of fire that is far better than what we had before. The ships and backgrounds all appear exactly as they did in the films, and all sounds are faithfully reproduced in every detail. Each ship in the game has a "behind the ship" view and a "cockpit" view. In the cockpit view, the yellow "C" joystick acts as your head, allowing you to look right, left, up or down as you fly. Every detail that you can think of is here. For example, at one point in the game you get to steal a TIE Fighter. When switching to the cockpit view in that ship, you get to hear that "hum" that was heard every time a close-up of a TIE Fighter Pilot was shown flying his ship in the movies. It's details like that that makes this game a winner, but there's more to it than that.
One of this game's best qualities is that it has great replay value. There are 10 main missions in the game, but 15 missions overall. There are also several bonus ships that can be unlocked and used in certain missions. Players can gain access to the 5 bonus missions by meeting performance standards in the missions they have access to (including any previously opened bonus missions) and being awarded bronze, silver or gold medals, with a maximum of 10 points per level. The points are then "cashed in" to open the bonus missions. The factors that the medals are based on include mission completion time, shot accuracy, and the number of enemies destroyed, among other things. The requirements for winning medals sometimes seem comparable to winning the "Triple Crown" in Major League Baseball. It seems you can excel in certain areas, while falling short in others. But there is no penalty for repeated failures to meet the requirements for medals, and all of them can be obtained eventually with enough practice. I'm winning gold medals on missions that a few weeks ago I had deemed it impossible to do so. The way to do it is just to pick a level and keep plugging away at it, time after time, until you finally win the gold medal. And you will sooner or later, trust me.
Bronze and silver medals are obtainable fairly easily with a little effort, but the gold ones are designed for only the most disciplined and determined players. But the rewards for winning them will keep you playing for hours on end. As of this writing I have access to 14 levels, and have 11 gold medals around my neck. As soon as I upgrade the remaining 3 silver medals to gold, I will have enough points to open the final bonus mission, "Endurance." Once I win the gold medal in that mission, I will gain access to the "Ace" mode, which is a whole new ballgame. I have a feeling that I'm not nearly done with this game, and I've already gotten my money's worth out of it. My medals and performance thus far has earned me the Slave 1, Millenium Falcon and TIE Fighter bonus ships, and there are still more out there left to get I understand.
Any fan of the "Star Wars" universe would have to love this game. I strongly recommend picking it up.
The top game for the Game Cube

I played furiously for about an hour trying to complete the
first level (just rented the game had no instructions.)
I thought the first level was incredibly well depicted it puts you right into the final confrontation of the first star wars film.
What came next blew me away.
The second level in this game is the most beautiful, realistic star wars based space game I have ever experienced.
This IS the LAUNCH Title to get.
Forget PS2 or Xbox, Nintendo is VIDEO GAMES leading edge anything else is just a CD, DVD or PC impersonating as a video game machine.
"Quality over Quantity" is Nintendo's motto and it definitively shows.
A MUST have for fans

This is one of the most fun games I've ever played. If you love Star Wars, get this game. If you love space shooters, get this game. Graphically, you can't beat it. The enemy AI is excellent and the need to get to the next mission or get a better medal really pumps up the replay value.
The only gripe I have is that it is based exactly on the 64 game engine; same menus, ship select hangar (you walk Luke or Wedge to his ship in this one), if you run out of lives it's back to the start menu, then to load game, the mission select, ship select and finally to the mission. Now with all new load times! Which really aren't that bad, but it's still annoying. Even one level is nearly same. It all makes the game feel played already.
But it does haves TONS more action, nifty little surprises, and looks and sounds spectacular. Besides, it's Star Wars, what more reason do you need to get this game?
Amazing Interpretation of a Classic!

What can be said about Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II? Everything about it, the graphics, sound, controls, story, and even voices are good. From the moment the GameCube intro movie passes, you are entertained. Even before you have to pick up the controller, you see stormtroopers forming in the LucasArts logo dancing to the Mos Eisley cantina music. From then on, it is sheer bliss. The controls take a little while to get used to, but after that brief learning period they are second nature. Your thumbs and index fingers flow perfectly to the correct buttons, and never once do you need to check where they are. The movies of this game just don't do the sound and picture justice, you won't even notice that you aren't playing the movie most of the time. The voice-overs are well done and placed, Factor 5 (the developers) even got the real voice of Wedge Antilles to do his voice. The only reason why I give this game four stars is because of the difficulty level. You can be stuck on a level for days at a time, and then you can forget about a gold medal until you replay it with about a thousand more times, and that's with all the upgrades you can find. The lack of a multiplayer option is a minimal inconvenience, as it would detract from the experience in the rest of the game. Many people would end their review with "May the Force be With You!" but that's just to cheesy for me. I'll just go with the simple, "Good luck and good hunting!"
