A big letdown

Rogue Leader was the first game I played for the Nintendo Gamecube. Sadly, it was a poor choice. I own the original Rogue Squadron and I really enjoy the game, so I figured this would be a great first rental. Right from the start though, I was disappointed.

The game starts with corny dancing Stormtroopers to some old time music holding up yellow squares to form the Lucas logo or something. Whaa? That kinda breaks the mood... but forgivable. Then I got to the menu screen... scenes from the movies played randomly in the background serving no apparent purpose, except maybe to give the developers less original work to do.

When I finally got in game, being new to the Gamecube, I hit the training mission. I figured I'd learn about all the cool abilities of the various crafts and how to best fight the Empire. Instead, I'm "treated" to a empty field with random training icons floating. Most are completely useless, such as "press A to fire... Good Job!!" A few are truly retarted... "You found a Jabba's Palace... GOOD JOB!!". If I had that computer tell me 'good job' just one more time... I would have thrown my controller down right then and there. So, annoyed, I quit and headed for the first mission...

Without any good explanation or reason, I'm suddenly fighting above the Death Star. Lasers are shooting everywhere, tie's are flying in every possible direction, and my wingmen are screaming at me for leadership. I liked it. I quickly pull up the targeting computer and take down a few ties. Then I order my wingmen to do the same, and set upon the mission's goals. It was a great mission, but random.

Next mission, I'm in an asteroid field. How on earth did I get here? No... never mind... it looks gorgeous, who cares. I'm blasting stuff, having a unconvinced but good time. Sadly, this doesn't last until mission 3. By mission 3 I'm bored, the gorgeous graphics die down to just standard locations, and the missions are very tedious. By the later levels, it was so easy to mess up a small detail and have to start over I said forget it, no more.

This game starts off with a major blast (if you avoid the training) and dies quickly from there. It doesn't get better, it just keeps going instead. If you can find it cheap, rent it for the first few levels alone. It'll be fun for a few days. That's only if you can find it cheap or borrow it from a friend. Don't buy this thing unless you're sure.

I wish I could give a 3.5 The graphics are UNREAL. I mean...they look REAL, like in a movie. I was initally frusterated with not understanding how to complete a mission (how do I break the force field? OH I HAVE A SPECIAL MISSILE JUST FOR THAT!) this bothered me so much, (it still does sometimes) that the game only gets 4 stars. good for almost all ages.

This game is so-so

This game is graphically amazing! It has great sound! But It gets boring. For God sakes the first level is so boring!! Yet the game is fun. I got 3 games Luigi's Mansion, Waverace and Star wars( Luigi's Mansion is my favorite. You should buy it with the Strategy Guide!! This game is for gamers 10 and older( not according to the esrb but in difficulty) I also reccomend Luigi's Mansion Wave Race Bluestorm, Pikmin, Super Smash bros Melee and Tony Hawk Pro Skater two.

it is good, exept,

I was a fan of the first installment of Rogue Squadron, but I'm not impressed with where the series has gone. The main problem for me is visibility: TIE fighters are tiny and almost impossible to see (especially in space battles), making taking them too much of a challenge. They added a targeting computer feature that helps a bit, but you lose points the longer you use the targeting computer.

Overall, I found portions of this game to be fun, but they need to brighten up the graphics to make it more playable.

Let me say again, WOW.
The graphics are great and the gameplay is excellent. You are suppose to earn coins to buy new levels and save the rebellion. This game is excellent and a must have. I have to leave now to go play this game.

this game is really awsome. Its a challenging game but everyone needs a challenge. This was the 3rd game i bought for Gamecube™ and it is my 3rd pick out of 3. All of my friends with Gamecube™ have this game. I keep sharing my files with each of them to get better ships and weapons, and better EVERYTHING! thats all i am going to say other than get this game, THPS3( tony hawk 3), or super smash bros: MELEE.

Better Than I Had Imagined It Would Be!

This is the most detailed, fun, actionpacked, beutiful game I have ever seen!{No exageration}.The amount of detail and life put into everything you do is flat out of this world. From The Death star attack,{With movie footage of the death star exploding}to hoth, to the battle of Endor and destroying the incomplete death star,This game is flawless. If there is even one complaint I have,it is that in almost every level after the death star attack, you have to protect some type of mondo ship that could probably defend itsself against tie fighters and you have an alarmingly short time to do it. But that is a minor complaint compared to the large scale of things that make this game the greatest game I have ever played. Also in Tatooine training mode the suns rise and set with a beutiful backdrop of picture perfect colors to the time you set in to the gamecubes internal clock.{Plus you can destroy the city of Mos Eisley also!} ...

the leader of all games
