This game is flawed and over rated. the graphics are weak, so far as I can tell there is no story, the fighting is incredibly repetitive, there are not nearly enough places to save, and over all it is a frustrating and disapointing experience. If you're thinking of getting an action game for the x-box you should consider Oddworld: munch's oddysee or Halo wich are both incredibly good games and make the x-box worth buying.
Avoid this game like the plague!

I bought this game with an open mind and no preconceived notions as to how it should be. Unfortunately, that didn't help me one iota in trying to like this game. First, I'll cover the good stuff:
The graphics are good but nothing special. (DoA3 has FAR superior graphics.) The sound is good. The level design (from what I've seen) appears quite good.
Now the bad stuff...
The controls are completely non-standard to any other game I've played. In short, they are very awkward. I wouldn't have a problem with that except for the fact that they don't allow you to reconfigure the controls even the slightest amount. Sorry, but if you're gonna go with a non-standard control set at least let the players change it how they want it. In fact, there's nothing configurable at all in this game. You do get use to the controls after awhile but they still feel awkward in the end.
Save for the well done level design, the game offers little depth to gameplay. In truth, this is a first person shooter with RPG clothes on. That probably sounds pretty good until you play it and find it offers nothing to the genre other than the fact that it runs on the x-box. Simplistic gameplay and poor controls do not = success. They tried to mix two genres and failed on both sides.
I experienced a couple of bugs in the game as well but I won't go into it since they are level implementation related, and not general.
Of the 5 games I've played on the x-box, I liked this one the least by far. All I can say is buy Halo and DoA3 before you even bother looking at anything else. Then you'll know what a good x-box game is. Compared to those two, this game is pathetic.
Good graphics, but what's the point?

This game has decent graphics but there doesn't seem to be any point. You just run around like a freaked out smurf, slashing things that basically just stand there most of the time. The story line is non-existent and the main character is void of any personality at all. There aren't any mid-level saves and it's easy to fall off of a cliff and have to weave your way through areas you've already explored. Oh, and did I mention that you have to pick up coins as you progress? (GROAN) I mean, haven't we moved past that in the video game world? On a platform as great as XBox, there are far better games out there, rent don't buy.

Halo is a much better game! I started with Azurik, and it ws fun. Then 20 minutes later I tried Halo, then MX2002, and 4 more games. Azurik was way below my expectations. This game is the least fun I have ever had. Compared to other games, this is sooo dumb! The storyline is just like Zelda, you gotta save some dumb planet from people. The graphics are only good on the videos. And I dont even want to START about the controls. I reccomend renting this game, and spending your good $$$ on Halo.
Azurik, the piece of crap

This game is the worst game I've ever played. There isn't much of a story line, the fighting is very limited, and the graphics are horrible. It was so bad, that it should have been on the PS2. It doesn't deserve to be on the XBOX. This game is worse than the old 64 bit Superman game. Trust me, I have this game and it's only worth about 10 dollars.
beware

what looks like a decent strategy game was
rushed into production with pretty backgrounds
so they had nice screen shots...
This game controls as well as a rabid badger
on a leash.. in the worst sense possible..
appaling control...
pointless plot...
endless annoying areas that you must visit and
revisit to get anything done.... Stay Away.
Waste of money, waste of time

This game was entertaining for about 3 hours then it became a frustration. Since you can only save your progress at pre-specified points within the game and the distance between them is so great that if Azurik looses his life (and he will) you then have to start playing again way back where you started.
There might actually be 72 plus hours of game here, but after only 8 hours of playing, which equals 1 hour of actual progress, I'm already so bored with the game I can't stand to look at it.
The graphics are merely okay... and after viewing the same scenes over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over ... well you get the picture.
Good concept, executed poorly

Azurik's an interesting game. The elemental combination system that's at the heart of the game is an interesting one, and could have provided for some unique and creative puzzles, situations, and combat. However, in many respects, the game falls flat on its face.
Combat, for one, as frequent as it is, is entirely uninteresting. A,A,A,B is the name of the game, and while you've got to make sure you're using the right elemental combinations, the lack of a reward for beating a monster (they respawn, you gain no experience, and often end up using more "elemental fuel" than you regain) is negligible.
The game is billed as an action/adventure. Adventure games are generally about two things - seeing the sights, and solving some puzzles. The sights are a mix of good and bad. While there's clearly a lot of geometry up on the screen, it's not really put to good effect. Textures are detailed close up, but muddy from the distance you'd normally look at them from. Poor level-of-detail control. The level design is also often pointless, and very easy to get lost in due to the repetitive nature of the levels.
Azurik's cardinal and unforgivable sin, however, is that there is no logic to the game. The puzzles are simply to find the pieces of the elemental discs, and their respective powers, and use them where you're told to. There are a few puzzles that actually require some thought, but even then, they're more illogical and trial-and-error based than not. Had there been any indication of where you might look to solve your current problem, the game would have been worlds better.
Alas, the lack of logic in the puzzles and level designs, the poor floaty controls, the repetitive and boring combat, and the atrocious save system (yes, there's a save anywhere cheat. It can also permanently ruin your game, forcing you to start all over again if you use it wrong) make Azurik a pass for all but the most hardcore adventure gamers. But the problem, then, is that the hardcore have seen games much better than this.

I gave this game one star because you can't choose a fraction of a star. This is a horrible game because: 1.The graphics are dull ,jaggedy, and very rushed. 2.The sound is so bad that I had to turn the sound off. When you attack he repeats a annoying, stupid grunt. 3.The storyline (If you can consider it a storyline) seems stupid and incomplete. 4.The fighting is very dull and you can only do two types of attacks (Jab and swoop). Also fighting is pointless since all you get when you kill a monster is a health pack. The bottom line is don't buy this game. If you want a good game buy Halo.

My cousin and I have been playing this game for a week or so and it is the most frustrating, boring game I've ever bothered playing. If it weren't for my cousin's fortitude this thing would have been in the dumpster a long time ago.
The plot line is typical of a hundred other bad games, and you can't even use the word character to describe the figure you control. Aside from some grunts when fighting, Azurik is completely devoid of any personality. The quests are needlessly long and complicated and end with no pay off except the next pointless quest.
Controls are a complete joke. We've spent countless hours trying to make it through a level only to slip off a platform and have to start the long pointless level all over again. If it weren't for a cheat code we found that allows you to save anywhere in the game even my cousin's stubborn patience would have ran out long ago. The fighting is just one endless stream of button smacking with little payoff. As my cousin notes the fighting just gets in the way of the questing.
I think the five stars some people gave this game is more a statement of the unreliability of these reviews than it is a praise of this game. Azurik is flat out the worst game it has ever been my displeasure to play. I'm just glad my cousin bought it and he's glad he got it used for cheap.
