Azurik on the rise

This is a game you'll love and hate. First the hate: the control over Azurik isn't great. You move Azurik with on stick, and the camera with the other. Try fighting off a large number of enemies, while the camera is going all over the place, sometimes it's just too much. But the good outshines the bad: The game sounds great first of all, and with 5.1 sound, it's even better. The soundtrack for the game is killer. The graphics in the game are killer. The worlds are more than beautiful. Now what I love is the way you use the powers of the elements. If you've played any of the Zelda games on the N64, you probably hated turning to the item screen to change weapons, or masks, or whatever. Azurik lets you use and combine the different elemental powers by holding down the L trigger. Sometimes I can't remember what to combine to get what, but it beats the heck out of the Zelda system. If you need something to play other than Halo, when your friends aren't around, this is a good choice.

great game

The graphics and sound are amazing, and hours of gameplay will keep your mind and fingers well occupied.

even the store is horrified

i bought this game thinking it would be something like zelda.HAH! This is like the very basic zelda where you can walk around and use 1 attack. there is no items menu or weapons menu or any menu besides the pause. this game is sooooo repetative nothing different, alllllll the same. HAH and hear this. i went to the store a few weeks after i got azirik at the same store. i bought another game (blinx which i dont highly reccomend either but its not nearly as bad as this one) and when i was buying it the salesman said "and if for any reason you should not like this game...you can take it back within 7 days." and i said "o i wish i knew about that when i bought azurik" and he sais "well, technically we shouldnt have even sold you azurik"!!!!! HAHAHA this game is so bad

Immediately disappointing, with no hope of recovery.

Azurik reminds me a little of Turok: Dinosaur Hunter from years ago, except the premise is far less interesting and the main character is blue. Yep, blue. One of those ridiculous-looking Japanese Anime characters with tattoos and whacked-out hair. Worse, he appears to be made of a stiff plastic which makes him move with the realism of a Barbie doll. Seriously, he marches up steep hills without a single knee flex!

The textures are nice, but the animation quality in Azurik is very poor by today's standards. Those of you who are saying this game really showcases the Xbox should try a few more games. The music is a poor attempt at a movie score, and the creatures you have to battle are as dumb as posts. The birds that fly around are animated so badly that I burst out laughing. But worst of all, the controls in Azurik are so lame that you have to spend half your time and energy just managing (centering) the camera so you can see what's going on.

The bottom line? This is Microsoft's worst Xbox game, and if I were the product manager I would have pulled the plug. Stick with the likes of Halo, Munch's Odyssee, Project Gotham Racing, Cel Damage, and any EA Sports game for state-of-the-art fun.

Its OK

I got this game knowing what it was about, but frankly, its not any HALO. Its misguided, It could have been a good game, but it is not addictive, it can be boring to people who always need action in their games. Overal: 2 stars

Halo is a much better game! I started with Azurik, and it ws fun. Then 20 minutes later I tried Halo, then MX2002, and 4 more games. Azurik was way below my expectations. This game is the least fun I have ever had. Compared to other games, this is sooo dumb! The storyline is just like Zelda, you gotta save some dumb planet from people. The graphics are only good on the videos. And I dont even want to START about the controls. I reccomend renting this game, and spending your good $$$ on Halo.

Good for some...

This game is one of the best games ever, for some. Yes, it does have a few graphics glitches, but thats meaningless, not being able to save is a big disadvantage, for those of you who dont know the save any time trick, just pres DPAD UP,DPAD DOWN,A,B,RIGHT ANALOG CLICK, if you did this right and fast enough it will save. This game is VERY LONG and going the right way can be confusing, but thats half the fun, trying to find out were to go. Heres another cheat, god mode= X,BLACK,WHITE,PULL RIGHT AND LEFT TRIGGERS TOGETHER THEN CLICK BOTH ANALOG TRIGERS AND A SRTANGE SOUND WILL INDECATE. OVERALL THIS IS AN AVERAGE GAME.

dont buy this, wait for better games, save your money...linear gameplay, annoying enemies take to long to kill and regenerate when you die or reload from save, with cheats its better cause you can save anywhere, but its still ... . get xbox rpg morrowind instead.

A good game

This is a good game. Has nice graphics average sound...but...AWESOME gameplay. This is one of the funnest games ive played and if not for the average graphics and sounds, it would have got a 5-star rating. It may take a while to get into, but finding new places, getting new powers, unlocking secrets, and fighting kick-a bossess make it a fair competiter. I believe people dont put enough time into this game. Like i said it takes a while but this ends up into a nice box. The story line begins at a tower, where the 6 (?) realms meet. There are 2 lore gaurdains left, Azurik and (can't remember name...dammit). The lore gaurdian that isn't Azurik is possed by the Death Realm leader and is driven to take the Death Realm disk and destroy the others. This is a very long game so expect long game time. I think it takes around 75 hours to beat. wow. I still hav't won but im close.
