Looks promising, but a bit polygonal.

Though this game looks to have an intriguing plot and storyline, the characters seem to have a low poly count when compared to other XBOX games. In the end, it looks like it will be quite a bit of fun, but the graphics are not jaw dropping.
Could be the surprise game of the year.

This game has the potential to be the surprise game of the year. It has the potential to be what all of us wanted Zelda to be on the gamecube but will not be because of the extremely childish graphics. This game has amazing graphics, it is made specificly for the X box to show off its graphical capabilities. Someone said the characters looked like they had a low polygon count, like many this person had no idea what they were talking about. The main character is constructed from 7000 polygons, there are no loading screens because of the hard drive, the story should be deep and immersive and should not completely bore adults out there. On several other sites it has also been mentioned that the game promises 75 hours of gameplay, a total that will rival even final fantasy. This game has the potential to be one of the greatest ever and looks like it might just be the best action adventure game of the year and should blow zelda out of the water. I give this a definate 4 stars with the posibility of a 5 or even going off the charts.

I bought this game the day it came out and unlike previous reviewers on this page, have played the game for many hours. First, the graphics are top notch. The enviornments are amazing. The water and lava look real, I would rent it just to look at them. The controls are pretty stait forward, and I adjusted to them in about a few minutes. Second, the game play is very good. The worlds almost seem endless. You can explore maps for hours. Finally, the game play is pretty good. This game will consume hours of your time if you truely plan to finish. The only problem I have with this game is searching for the pieces of the elements can be quite boring. Depending on how lucky you get, it could take hours before finding pieces of the elements (the whole point of the game). Also, the game play can be quite difficult at times. That is why I have given the game 4 stars. You have to really be dedicated to continue playing the game. Although, some people will really love the challenge. I've read the game takes about 75 hours to finish. In my opinion I think the game would take longer. I hoped this helped those of you thinking about buying the game. Happy Gaming!
Could be better but pretty good

This game has so much potential. Because it is Microsoft's first attempt at a video game I am understanding. The graphics are what you will expect from an Xbox game. The sound is great. The storyline is wonderful. The characters are cool. So why I am not completely happy with this game? You do not have a save option. The only way to save is to find these save spots within the game. If you had an emergency and had to leave without saving, you would lose all your data or if your character dies before you have saved, once again all data lost. This can be quite annoying.
Should have been so much more...

Impressions after ~15 hours of play:
Average things:
Graphics are par-for-the-xbox; hyper-colorful, smoothly animated, no real pop-up. Sound is ok, but not spectacular. Controls are mostly ok; the camera is completely under your control, which "fixes" problems found in other games with auto-cameras, but it takes some practice; expect early camera frustration until you get the hang of it.
Exceptional things:
Level design is gorgeous. Enemy character design is very creative and well done, sometimes reminiscent of MDK.
Poor things:
Save game pads are WAY too infrequent, causing WAY too much retreading (either after getting killed, or backtracking after any major milestone). Collision detection with ground is horrendous; jumping/platforming in general stinks to high heaven in Azurik. Character development is much too slow and limited; should have strength, or health, or power boosting after so-many kills. Instead, it plays more like a very long Tomb Raider.
Summary: Eh. Shoulda rented before buying; you should too. It's the only adventure so far for XBox, but it's DEFINITELY no FF or Zelda.
Great!!!!

I think that this game is awesome, it has very good graphics(not perfect), and is a very long adventure game, that gamers will like. But I should say this game is not for everyone, it is not for people that get frustrated easily.
bunk game

This game is flawed and over rated. the graphics are weak, so far as I can tell there is no story, the fighting is incredibly repetitive, there are not nearly enough places to save, and over all it is a frustrating and disapointing experience. If you're thinking of getting an action game for the x-box you should consider Oddworld: munch's oddysee or Halo wich are both incredibly good games and make the x-box worth buying.
Avoid this game like the plague!

I bought this game with an open mind and no preconceived notions as to how it should be. Unfortunately, that didn't help me one iota in trying to like this game. First, I'll cover the good stuff:
The graphics are good but nothing special. (DoA3 has FAR superior graphics.) The sound is good. The level design (from what I've seen) appears quite good.
Now the bad stuff...
The controls are completely non-standard to any other game I've played. In short, they are very awkward. I wouldn't have a problem with that except for the fact that they don't allow you to reconfigure the controls even the slightest amount. Sorry, but if you're gonna go with a non-standard control set at least let the players change it how they want it. In fact, there's nothing configurable at all in this game. You do get use to the controls after awhile but they still feel awkward in the end.
Save for the well done level design, the game offers little depth to gameplay. In truth, this is a first person shooter with RPG clothes on. That probably sounds pretty good until you play it and find it offers nothing to the genre other than the fact that it runs on the x-box. Simplistic gameplay and poor controls do not = success. They tried to mix two genres and failed on both sides.
I experienced a couple of bugs in the game as well but I won't go into it since they are level implementation related, and not general.
Of the 5 games I've played on the x-box, I liked this one the least by far. All I can say is buy Halo and DoA3 before you even bother looking at anything else. Then you'll know what a good x-box game is. Compared to those two, this game is pathetic.

Great graphics and action for an odd title. Awsome animation. Intuitive gameplay.
Let's see a sequel to this game and more new titles from Amaze Entertainment. I think they will be a good company to keep an eye on for great game potential.
You'll need skill and patience to play this one

Graphics are good, sound is ok. If you like Zelda for N64 then you'll like Azurik too.
Rent it first, then you decide to buy it or not...
