Wii play isn't a complete wash

The remote is of course the main point of the purchase. Having more than 1 remote for the Wii really brings the gameplay to a whole new level. Highly recommended.
As for Wii Play. Most of the games are very basic, and shallow. Two standouts are tanks and lazer hockey. But thats not to say they're not entertaining. As long as you have 2 people playing competitively, the game is actually very fun. Its a good "party" game and breaks away from the somewhat monotony of Wii Sports.

Wii Play is a passable game, but more of a tech demo. It is unfortunate that you have to beat each game to play the next one.
Worth it to get the extra remote

I purchased the Wii on launch day and was unable to buy an extra remote. When I saw that Wii Play was being released, I decided to wait. My family loves Wii Sports and this sounded like even more fun. Not so much. The games are so basic they are easily conquered. I like the Find Mii game, but it isn't that exciting. This game is worth the extra $10 over the remote if you don't have one, but that is about it.

A control by itself is $39.99 so for $10 more you get quite a few really fun games that you can play alone or with a partner. I especially love the Pool game. It is so realistic!

The games are entertaining and they do help you practice using the controller with the Wii. The tank game is a little complicated but the target (Duck Hunting) game is neat. But the Wii take full advantage of using the controller on its side in the riding game. It has hurdles and targets you have to either miss or collect. In order to go faster you have to roll the controller forward while you hold it on its side. And since controllers are difficult to find in stores rigt now, you get the added bonus of the games.

I am not quite sure whether it was the fact the original games were just so great that came with the Wii, or it is just these games really really suck. I ultimately bought this pack because I needed another wii controller stat. Then I read the games and thought wow, those would be fun. I typically have at least 4 people at my house so having this pack of games which all of them are only 2 player is not any fun. I will be selling this game pack back to the store during my next trip. I will be keeping the wii controller though.
Worth it with the wiimote

This is an alright game, but i really got it just for the remote. The actual game is sorta fun. Shooting is really fun, ping pong ok, find mii and pose me suck, tanks rocks, cow race is weird but fun, and the rest are ok.
I'm not impressed, but you get what you pay for

As several other reviewers have pointed out the game part of this package essentially costs you $10. The other 40 goes toward a Wii remote, and if you look at it that way I guess these games don't seem like such a waste. Unlike Wii Sports, which I think is actually a lot of fun, these simple games seem to be more gimmicks than anything and aimed purely at showcasing the Wii remote.
There are several games here--find the Mii, a ping pong game, a fishing game, etc--but I was bored by the time I'd played them all through once. I'd say the shooting game was the most fun for me--the ping pong had the potential but the controls were a bit awkward and even once I got the hang of it I couldn't find anyone who wanted to play that could control the darn thing well. The tank game is okay, the fishing game is okay, the pool game feels awkward with the way you move the remote...
I could go on, but the point here is that these games just aren't that much fun. Even with the few amusing minutes I had when I first put the game in I've found the replay value here to be pretty low, and haven't played the game since that first time.
Now the big question: is it worth the money? Well, if I had it to do over again I'd just buy the Wii remote and save the 10 bucks, but I guess if you're looking for some simple games that let you use the Wii remote in various ways this game might provide that. Just don't expect great amounts of entertainment.

This is a good deal for the price. You get the controller and also Wii Play game for about what you would have paid for just one.
The games are good for getting used to using the Wii controller, but some of them are very basic
