Mediocre sonic game.

I dont own a wii or this game but I play it at my aunts house when I go, when i first played it was fun then I had to do the same level over, and over, and over, and over, and over again, that just got annoying,
If I ever get a wii I wouldnt buy it, its way too repetitive if you play it everyone in awhile its fun but to own it and play the same level over and over, etc to unlock the next level it isnt fun
i know the mario games have that(super mario 64, sunshine, galaxy) but its different, ,ario games were somewha like that it works better with mario and its not as repetitive, so I wouldnt recoment buying the game maybe just maybe renting.

Sonic's speed fails to impress

One day, long ago, in a world of 16 bit wonder, Sonic meant fun, blistering speed. Now it just seems to mean big fat money signs for the publisher (which unfortunately doesn't benefit us gamers). It comes with the prerequisite party games in addition to the single player and training mode.

The multiplayer games were actually decent, but hard to justify purchase when the main game is so frustrating. The real problems start with the training mode. Through poor design, the object of each training level is given briefly, leading to unnecessary fumbling to figure out what should be extremely simple. To make matters worse, there is even a training level that can not be completed. I know, because out of sheer stupid determination, I tried again and again and again. Whatever it was that needed to be accomplished was lost on me. Giving up on the training mode, I jumped heartily into the game, discovering that this game ran on a rail. A very narrow one at that. Unfortunately for looks, the designers opted to make it look like there was no rail that you were confined to so there are countless times that you will veer one way or the other to avoid the enemy only to find that you are shoved right back into the way of the baddy to lose all of your hard earned rings. Then you must build up speed again which in the 2D version of Sonic was not nearly as aggravating as it is in this version. Which means one of the main allures of Sonic is lost, as you are constantly tripped up by baddies and forced to regain your speed and rings at a maddingly slow pace.

I put up with all of this, but I think I lost it when I found out that you have to replay a level over and over with different missions before you can advance to another level, without any real explanation as to what needs to be done. Meaning the little feeling of triumph you had at finishing the level melts as you realize you will have to do it again, and again and again.

he's getting there

secret rings is a nice wii game. the controls aren't the best but they're at least reliable 90% of the time you use the. the games fun, but it's story structure is not the best out there because they're using still frames to represent a book style theme. the voice acting is defenatly not one of sonic's best. in the adventure mode, you unlock ablilities to help sonic. you can also unlock up to 40 mini games, though they're mostly boring but some are ok. at least sega thinking outside the normal stuff. this is an good sonic game, but it defenatly needs some work. rent it first.

Not a DESERVING Sonic Title

This game is horrid. The controls are unresoonsive. The story plain sucks. Sonic turned weird (He says "hell" to make him "cool.") Eggman isn't the enemy, and the party games are unresponsive back. Buy Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for Gamecube instead. It's way more fun.

I think it's fun

I'm not a gamer at all so the help that this game gives me is much appreciated. Like I don't have to run and get every single ring because it will let me finish the level anyway, and it kind of steers me in the right direction so I get all that I need. Maybe it's best for people like me who have only ever owned an Atari (in 1983 when I was 4) and now a Wii (or for people who are younger than 5). :) I like it. I play it pretty often and pat myself on the back when I get through a tough level.

Wasn't what I expected, but its still an Okay game.
If your a big sonic fan, this is a must have, but other wise, you'll enjoy interacting with the Wii remote.

Well, looking at all these other reviews, I guess this is a love it or hate it game. I for one LOVE it! I think the music is awesome. The story is a little strange, but whatever, the levels and game play are way too fun. The challenge of the game varies from easy to pretty hard, as would be expected when you get further and further into a game. I have had no problems whatsoever with the controls. I believe that those that have problems with them are too impatient. Like they've said, the Wii-mote is sensitive. The further you get into the game, the more skills you obtain, making your control beautiful. I recommend this game to anyone looking for a Sonic game with a different and fun twist to it.

I love Sonic. It's good to see him back. It is still just as exciting as when he first came out.

The worst sonic game I've ever played

Sonic And The Secret Rings is the worst sonic game in Sonic The Hedgehog history. The game requires you to hold Wii Remote Controller sideways, which only complicates things. There is a voice and subtitles informing you where to go and what to do. It says for Sonic to do this or that and when I do, it doesn't work. The controls are horrible and more difficult to deal with than being 20 grand in debt. I can't get past the fourth paragraph/level/stage. I've spent over 2 weeks trying to figure it out. It's the controls. They suck on the game. Maybe if the game was compatible with the Wii Classic Controller, it might have been easier to play. I rightfully deserve my 30 bucks plus tax back for this wrongfully made Sonic Game. Whoever composed this game had no clue what they were doing.

So much packed into a $30 game!!

In reading reviews to avoid repeating the same sentiments -- I was befuddled by the negative reviews. This game is so much fun and is always building on itself, that I anticipate it to continue to be my favorite game for some time. Why spend $50 on a game that can be broken in one weekend? The only thing I can figure is the negative reviews are from hard-core gamers, which I certainly am not. I got the Wii for Xmas 07 and previously had only had the Atari 2600 in the 80's. (clue as to why the reviews of the hair band sound track doesn't bother me)

People should post what level they have gotten to and how much time they have given to a game. I've had it for a month and have gotten the 3rd Dinosaur level unlocked. I didn't play for about a week and had to revisit some of the Prologue to get back in the groove. Which I think is awesome. The game is still fresh. I think it's amazing how much they've packed into one disk. So many levels, so many skills.

Why does anyone care about the quality of the story? Buy a novel if you want a good read. And the graphics...I'm too concentrated on the skills to reach the goal, making medal level time, and finding fire souls to notice how many pixels are used to build the fires.

I recommend reading C. Alfaro "Teo" 's review for an in depth review of the game.

And if that wasn't enough for $30, you get bonus party games that are a like getting a whole other disk. Way more variety than "Carnival". And contrary to another reviewer, yes you can choose the games you prefer in the "library". More party games are unlocked as you beat more levels in the main game.

Yes, the Prologue is mandatory, but it has a purpose. You have to learn how to use the remote to make the future games enjoyable. And the games there are still fun. I've returned back to beat the clock and earn a medal. (The table of contents keeps track of medals won, fire souls found). So if you rent first -- you should give it a fair chance. (In comparison, I found the mandatory start up in Boogie and Play to be far more annoying).

I recommend disconnecting the wrist strap for comfort (yes, shame on me, but your not going to fling the remote it's used more like a game pad [party games however do use more of the Wii movement, so put the wrist strap back on]). The + will get you past the story book. Yes, jumping is on the release of 2, that is because the length of depressing 2 determines the strength of the jump (read the CD insert). You need to press the directional up to last longer while fighting multiple enemies. Equip your ring with as many possible skill points as you earn them. Read the skills -- several reviewers mention slowness, but there is a skill to get a burst of speed when the count down is at one. You will eventually earn the skill to resume speed after losing it to rugged terrain. The directional up gives Sonic his burst of speed. Later on when you earn skills like faster breaking and smoother grinding, you can return to previous beaten screens for faster times or more points.
