Sonic More Like The Originals

This Sonic game is more like the originals than the last few. Mainly because the plot line is so weak that it has no choice but to offer a bit more nostalgia than the last few games. Decent game for the pre-teen age gamer. Has a minor (seems like last minute) multi-player section too.

fun!

most critics and i agree this is a good sonic game. i had rented this game a while back at blockbuster (loathe hate blockbuster) and without knowing I was supposed to hold the wiimote sideways like a race car (due to blockbusters lack of instruction booklets) i didn't know that. I got nowhere in the game and returned. Anyway after learning to hold the wiimote sideways i got the game and have been enjoying it since. My only qualms is that I wish the layout was slightly different on the menu, and that the cutscenes were so boring. OH AND I HATE THE VOICE OF SONIC JASON GRIFFITHS IS NOT SONIC. A great review is by this guy spax3 on youtube. You should watch it (it's not me or anything)

I love Sonic. It's good to see him back. It is still just as exciting as when he first came out.

Wasn't what I expected, but its still an Okay game.
If your a big sonic fan, this is a must have, but other wise, you'll enjoy interacting with the Wii remote.

Not a DESERVING Sonic Title

This game is horrid. The controls are unresoonsive. The story plain sucks. Sonic turned weird (He says "hell" to make him "cool.") Eggman isn't the enemy, and the party games are unresponsive back. Buy Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for Gamecube instead. It's way more fun.

secret rings is a nice wii game. the controls aren't the best but they're at least reliable 90% of the time you use the. the games fun, but it's story structure is not the best out there because they're using still frames to represent a book style theme. the voice acting is defenatly not one of sonic's best. in the adventure mode, you unlock ablilities to help sonic. you can also unlock up to 40 mini games, though they're mostly boring but some are ok. at least sega thinking outside the normal stuff. this is an good sonic game, but it defenatly needs some work. rent it first.

Sonic's speed fails to impress

One day, long ago, in a world of 16 bit wonder, Sonic meant fun, blistering speed. Now it just seems to mean big fat money signs for the publisher (which unfortunately doesn't benefit us gamers). It comes with the prerequisite party games in addition to the single player and training mode.

The multiplayer games were actually decent, but hard to justify purchase when the main game is so frustrating. The real problems start with the training mode. Through poor design, the object of each training level is given briefly, leading to unnecessary fumbling to figure out what should be extremely simple. To make matters worse, there is even a training level that can not be completed. I know, because out of sheer stupid determination, I tried again and again and again. Whatever it was that needed to be accomplished was lost on me. Giving up on the training mode, I jumped heartily into the game, discovering that this game ran on a rail. A very narrow one at that. Unfortunately for looks, the designers opted to make it look like there was no rail that you were confined to so there are countless times that you will veer one way or the other to avoid the enemy only to find that you are shoved right back into the way of the baddy to lose all of your hard earned rings. Then you must build up speed again which in the 2D version of Sonic was not nearly as aggravating as it is in this version. Which means one of the main allures of Sonic is lost, as you are constantly tripped up by baddies and forced to regain your speed and rings at a maddingly slow pace.

I put up with all of this, but I think I lost it when I found out that you have to replay a level over and over with different missions before you can advance to another level, without any real explanation as to what needs to be done. Meaning the little feeling of triumph you had at finishing the level melts as you realize you will have to do it again, and again and again.

Mediocre sonic game.

I dont own a wii or this game but I play it at my aunts house when I go, when i first played it was fun then I had to do the same level over, and over, and over, and over, and over again, that just got annoying,
If I ever get a wii I wouldnt buy it, its way too repetitive if you play it everyone in awhile its fun but to own it and play the same level over and over, etc to unlock the next level it isnt fun
i know the mario games have that(super mario 64, sunshine, galaxy) but its different, ,ario games were somewha like that it works better with mario and its not as repetitive, so I wouldnt recoment buying the game maybe just maybe renting.

It's alright!

This game sounds like it is alright to me. The game is about Sonic and this other girl genie trying to get all of these world rings or something like that and beat this evil genie. A lot of the worlds have like the same level and that is kind of weird because it sounds you are doing the same exact thing like every mission. The music in the game sounds like it is some kind of rock music and stuff. Also, the mini games are hard to understand because it seems like a lot of them are confusing. Some of them it will tell you like how to play and it really doesn't explain it very well sometimes. I would rent this game first before actually thinking about buying it. But, anyway this game sounds ok to me. 3 out of 5 stars

Rather get a tattoo, or a crazy kitten.

One big disappointment! Sure it looks pretty, but so does a train wreck with a bit of color, shadows and if you look really fast and look away.

The controls are unresponsive, the actions too varied (like jumping and timing your jumps) and the velocity factor is inconsistent. I think the makers of this game either underestimated the level of hand-eye coordination out there or over-estimated it. After about 4 hours I gave up on moving backwards. I think it would have been more successful (for me at least) if you still had manual control like actually pressing left, right, forward or back, and not rely on tilting the remote controller. I don't quite see the Wii controller up for such a task. Not that there is anything wrong with the controller, but for instance, sitting up and laying down give two completely different gaming experience (from bad to worst).

Then there is the soundtrack. Why tunes with a "metal meets rock very badly done in a basement" feel? If you are struggling with a particular level (because of the inconsistent and varied actions), the same tunes just keeps repeating itself. Maybe a little collaboration with something (somebody) a bit more trendy and hip? I was hoping for something a bit more upbeat, sorta more in line with the "funkyness" that the game tries to portray. Sonic always had a stigma attached to it that will appeal to the trendy folk who listens to trippy house tunes...but this is no secret that the soundtrack sucks the biggest suck it can ever suck. And yes, I like alternative music, but its a big no-no here.

Bad story line, bad music, bad controls, bad dialogue.

The upside is that the disk makes one fierce coaster. Save your money people! Try it out when it becomes a "gamers choice game", which I doubt it will, but in order to get rid of all the surplus disks they will just stick "games choice" on the new inlay and con more suckers into buying this rather questionable piece of code.
