whats your idea of a good game?

Are you into hardcore games with awesome graphics, loads of killing, repeating moves, impossible bosses, battlefield scenarios, no strategy, and bad AI? Then this game is for you. It looks so great on the outside, but once you get at least knee deep, you realize the total failure. This happpens about the first time you lose. You can even lose without dying. But how? Well, the worlds worst AI makes it possible. Your team actually brings their leader into the thick of the battle all the way to the end, and guess whats waiting for him at the end? An impossible boss! Your low ranking soldiers don't even fight each other, they wait and attack 1 by 1 at an important guy. Their men do the same, they are all after you and the important guys on your side. Wait, theres more, if some how in your onslaught you get stuck, and don't have enough life (they give it to you only when you don't need it, and then it dissapears) you might decide to take a trip back looking for pots that you can beak which might just have a little life in them. Well on your trip you might just notice the hundreds of men on your side who are running back and forth serving no purpose, and not advancing to where the fighting is. This gets your mind running, "why do they give every special guy except you an army?" All you get is two body guards who die in 5 seconds.
However I did give this game 1 star. It is fun for the first few minutes. It can be pretty funny. And the greatest part is stealing a horse and riding around on horseback, trampling every guy you see, until some guy from the crowd jumps 10 feet into the air, clears three people, and still has enough hang time, to swing his staff and knock you clean off your horse.
Overall this is a pretty bad game and it only deserves one star.
This is a rental game!

I'll give this game a star for it's production values, but everything else comes up very short.
First it plays like double dragon, but with less interaction, you can't really pick up new weapons (besides the long range ones) and your selection of attacks is very small.
The A.I. of your enemies and comrades is pitiful, soldiers often stand around with very little agressive behavior, and bosses can be cheap. Think Luigi in Mario Kart (kudos to those that get it)
And if you want replay value, look elsewhere, this game has five stages, and though the difficulty shoots up quickly, that's simply a cheap tactic to stretch the game out.
This is a game to rent when you want to impress non serious gameplayers with graphics, or when you're home sick with a cold and need a brainless diversion. Because put simply, the fun lasts for maybe an hour.
Run around, whack buttons, repeat. . .

I didn't much enjoy this game, though I must admit that the graphics were TERRIFIC! I suppose this is a great game if you you're into (as the young man at the game shop put it) "Button Mashers". . . A button masher, it seems, is a game in which the primary goal is to mash the attack button before the enemy hits you over the head with a mallet (or some other unfriendliness).
The crux of the game is that you're one of the heros outlined in the opening credits. Each has a different weapon that they use in a different way from the next (Et cetera, et cetera. Yadda yadda. . .). You have to win a series of battles (that are a bit confusing to begin with) and claim various prizes. . . Now on to how to play the game- (much like the title of this review) "Run around, whack buttons, repeat until you are dead or victorious". Taa Daa, you've just mastered Dynasty Warriors 2; Congrats. The only real strategy I've been able to discern from watching 3 people (aside from myself) play the game is "don't get hit".
Sorry to have been less than overjoyed with the gameplay, but I've seen really good games and I've seen really bad games (I own 116 PS1 games and 16 PS2 games. . .) and this one is simply too close to marginal to get all hot and bothered about. Rent it before you buy it. If you can't stand the idea of returning it to the rental store, buy your own. (On the up side, I'd give it 2.5 stars if that were an option)
I don't get it.

You walk around, plowing through enemies with your weapon of choice while a hundred other on screen characters run around like chickens without heads or just stand there like zombies. The landscapes are boring and the infamous 'fog' that won't let you view past a certain point is thick. Hack, cut, heeyah, repeat. Hack cut, heeyah, repeat. Fun? No, boring.
Um...so what is the big deal anyway?

I rushed out and rented this game after reading the reviews on this site. Anxious to try a game compared to the likes of "Kessen" by the same company, I have to say that I am pretty disappointed.
But this game seems like it was cloned from the PS1 version in a big hurry to get to market. The graphics look very super-imposed on their background, and the fighting is very unrealistic, in the sense that you can just jump into a crowd of people and start swinging away --- including not even harming your own teammates. (Can we have a tiny bit of realism here?) The character auto-animation is odd...characters just take random lobs at each other instead of actually fighting. Finally, there are very limited moves to choose from.
If you must have this game, please rent it first.
Exciting But...

This game is great at first. You're a hero in a Chinese army, like a Colonel, and you fight with the men in your command to defeat the opposing general. Strategy is realistic; if you deviate from your mission and get bogged down, the enemy may overrun your general and you'll lose. I found that the game was difficult at first, but once I got a little stronger I started using "navy SEAL" tactics and just ran straight to the opposing commanders and generals, and killed them. I beat the 3rd and 4th levels in 5 minutes using this tactic. It gets easier as you go, because you get a special guard of men that eventually become better than you! I had to run away from my men to get a chance to fight because they killed everyone!
It took me all of 3 hours to beat the game, and that was after figuring it out for an hour or so. It left me disappointed and wanting more. Worth a 5 for the 3 hours you'll play it. Go out and rent it, and you'll have your fill.
Good concept, only 5 maps?!?

The first few times I played the game, I really enjoyed it. However, after completing the 5 levels twice, I am completely sick of it. Another five to ten levels that could be unlocked by completing the game would have made all the difference.
Good concept and great graphics, but only about 3-4 hours (tops) of gameplay and no multiplayer really kill this one. Don't buy it new, as I suspect there will be plenty of used copies of it out there.
Yawn......wake me when it's over..........

This game has some nice graphics and it boasts 30 on screen characters at one time with no slow down. Sounds good, but this game is way to repetitive. By the second level, I couldn't take it anymore. Save your money and rent this one first.
Fun, But Looooooong

At this point, Dynasty Warriors 3 is out....there is really no need to even play this one. DW3 is far better with improved gameplay and even multiplayer mode. Don't waste even a rental fee on this, if you really want to see DW2 play....just get DW3, there's not much difference. It's not that it isn't fun or cool...it's just that DW3 is the same thing packed with more fun. The problem I have with this one is, it takes over an hour to beat one level....and there really isn't any save points. That can be aggravating if you don't have a full hour to waste.
Unless your really bored, want to waste your money....or just crazy insane for the series....don't bother with this one at all.
Buy DY3 instead...

They're basically the same, only 3 has improved on 2. You should just skip this and go straight for 3, or 4, which is coming out soon... There really isn't any reason to play this game anymore.
