Button Masher Dream

This game has wonderful graphics and movement. HOWEVER, there is way too much button pushing for me. If you like to kill 300 people in 10 minutes, this game is good for you. It requires very little strategy and skill to kill people. The game would be much better if it required the use of some strategy. You are thrown in a middle of a war and you just start killing as many people as you can. You do have to make some strategic moves such as killing the bow men on walls and try to keep your body guards alive. Overall my fingers started hurting after an hour and the game got a little old. But like I said if you like to push a lot of buttons and love graphics, you will love this game. One positive part of the game is the history lesson, I did learn a lot. I would definitely suggest renting it for a few days first. I loved it the first 2 days, but quickly grew sick of it after that.

great fun, but not enough variaty.

This game is awesome when you first play it, great graphics and good story lines. But it does tend to get boring quick. You can change characters, but the levels are basically the same. Despite these shortcommings, it is still a fun game and definitly worth having. I would recommend renting it first, if you are still having fun with it after 3 days, buy it.

Very cool concept, but doesn't deliver

When I first saw this game I was blown away. I was growing tired of those 'one man army' type games and wanted something where I could work with friendly AI to crush my enemies. Seeing other AI battle against each other led me to beleive that this game was going to be revolutionary, without a doubt one of the best games ever created for the Playstation 2, but when I got around to renting the game, I was very dissapointed. At first I loved Dynasty Warriors 2, running around in raging battle and destroying all enemy soldiers that got in my way was very enjoyable, but only for so long...then I began to find the flaws that brought down my liking for the game. The major flaw of the game was the AI. I didn't notice it at first, but most of the time the soldiers don't do anything, they just stand around and wait to be killed. The AI on my side weren't much help either, they just pushed against the rival AI with an occaisional stab here and there, they too just waited around for me to come and save the day. The only intellegent AI were the bosses and the other playable characters who were helping me out. Another problem with the game was the insane difficulty of the game after level 3. I soon found no friednly AI at my side and a whole armies opposing me. Also the repitition of the game is a major standout after the first few hours of play. Just running around slashing and stabbing just gets too boring after awhile, KOEI really needed to add different aspects of warfare; such as using mighty warmachines to bring down castle walls (instead of the gates just magically opening after I killed a general). The final problem were with the characters fighting styles. Yes, they did have their own unique ways to massacre opponents, but when I unlocked the secret characters I was very upset with their styles. Characters who have the same weapons share the same fighting styles, it is rather dissapointing that I only had a couple of characters with unique ways of fighting instead of all thirty. Though those were rather major flaws of the game but there were some very good things about it as well which stopped me from giving this game one star. For starters, when I chose to replay a mission I was given the option of playing for the other side which in my opinion was very, very cool. Another cool aspect of the game were the many characters I could take control of. Even though many shared the same way of fighting, each character looked very different from one another and at least had different stats(attack, defense, etc.). And though it can be very tedious to just run around and slash motionless AI drones, it can still be very addictave and something very fun to do when you very bored. This game had all the elements to make a smash hit but it wasn't pulled together the right way. Maybe if KOEI would make a Dynasty Warriors 3 they could look back on the mistakes from this game and create a smash hit that would delight gamers for ages.

I just love it.

This game rocks. You can execute so many people in this game without raising. I had alott of fun mastering it. I also like the history backrounds. If get your person to max stats. If love action and fighting this is for you.

PS:[ This game was based on a book.]

This is by far the finest game I have ever played. Ever since playing Ikari Warriors (a war game on the atari), I dreamed of a game like this and finally many years later it is here.

The graphics and game play are simply excellent. Ive loved the Romance games ever since they have been out, but this one is less strategy and more fighting. And after reading the Romance of the three kingdoms novel last summer, I can say that the battles closely follow the actual story, for example the yellow turban rebellion, Zhang Fei's Bridge Challenge, etc.

This sets the benchmark for all 3D war games.

Good concept, only 5 maps?!?

The first few times I played the game, I really enjoyed it. However, after completing the 5 levels twice, I am completely sick of it. Another five to ten levels that could be unlocked by completing the game would have made all the difference.

Good concept and great graphics, but only about 3-4 hours (tops) of gameplay and no multiplayer really kill this one. Don't buy it new, as I suspect there will be plenty of used copies of it out there.

Yawn......wake me when it's over..........

This game has some nice graphics and it boasts 30 on screen characters at one time with no slow down. Sounds good, but this game is way to repetitive. By the second level, I couldn't take it anymore. Save your money and rent this one first.

They're basically the same, only 3 has improved on 2. You should just skip this and go straight for 3, or 4, which is coming out soon... There really isn't any reason to play this game anymore.

Kept me entertained.

It kept me entertained for awhile but I never really got too far. I couldn't figure it out. My husband on the other has beat the game and this is one of his favorites. So based on how much he likes this I give it a 5 but I would rate it a 4. So approxiamtely 4.5 stars. There was just so many people fighting at once and I couldn't tell who my enemies were. but as i mentioned my husband knew.
