Wow... this is wonderful. It's hard to explain what type of game this is because it is its own own Genre alone! I HIGHLY SUGGEST THIS GAME!

A new kind of beat 'em up

I became addicted to Dynasty Warriors 2 at E3 this year, where I played it for several hours. The game is a radical departure from the first one, given that it's not even in the same genre. It's a beat 'em up, not a fighter. Picture a canyon in China. You, a high ranking officer in an army of several thousand men, are about to lead the offensive on the enemy castle. Your men (there are different ranks: Captains, Sergeants, Privates, etc.) bravely follow your charge. Until, that is, the enemy comes into view. Suddenly, the screen is filled with (literally) hundreds of detailed warriors killing each other. Your troops fall back to regroup, and you're left alone in the middle of a horde of swarming enemies. You whip out a special move and crush the lower ranking guys, but an enemy general has spotted you, and you engage in battle. After you take his head, the enemies lose their morale, your men come rushing back, and you storm the gate. You mount a horse and charge. That's what this game is all about. The only reason I hesitate to give it five stars is that there are only three buttons. Jump, attack, and strong attack. But who needs more buttons when you've got fully 3D graphics, advanced AI, two giant armies, and a big spear? Anyone who played Final Fight and liked it will enjoy this game. So will anyone who played Romance of the Three Kingdoms and wished the "Duel" option was more hands-on.

Man, this game is so fun that it even beats starcraft because the grafics are super good and outstanding performance in the battle areas. This strategy game is the best I've ever played. If you are looking up a strategy game only for Playstation 2, you must indeed buy this game. The old fighting skills of the samurais and the Chinese and Japanese warriors truly showed the real action at that ancient time. The pics on the dead warriors truly show the cruelness on how people fought back then. Man, the first time when I played this game it really brought the spirit in me on the strategic maps of how soldiers from different directions are coming. Its like World War 3 except its not that futuristic. In this game you are the total controller in your nation and the military arms like units of soldiers. Watching this battle scene really brought the spirit out of me because the story lines are great and its so realistic. So I recommend this game to all strategy players or skilled players like me who beat the whole game in 30 hours of nonstop killing and conquering. Buy it people, its really tight or sweet. I really mean it....

As one of the first consumers to purchase a Playstation on launch date, my first selection for a game had to test out the power of the newly designed PS2. So ideally I choose Dynasty Warriors 2 in hopes of utilizing it's amazing graphics display.

I was so blown away that when disc loaded in the machine and the intro began I forgot that I was looking at a video game and was lost in a movie. The sensational inroduction storyline was extremely breathtaking alongside the mindblowing graphics and smooth finishing graphics. It including real background graphics, realistic human movements and unforgettable designs.

The setting takes place in ancient china and puts you in the place of several different soldiers who must lead a vast army against the notorious Han dynasty. As the Lead commander you are responsible for fighting your troops into battle. With control of only the main character you fight through thousands of troops to help the army take strategic points of a territory. Some territories more than 5 acres long, you must plow through soldiers and fight constantly in battle ground atmosphere.

With weapons in hand you can engage in furious battles and summon special attacks by saving energy in one powerful burst. Arrows are also shot across distances. One of the greatest highlights of the game is being able to ride on a abondon horse which allows for quicker coverage and towering advantage over your enemies.

Though DW2 is filled with spectacular army combat at times it seems inveitable to have this a multi-player game. Unfortunately its 360 degree style can only allow 1 person to play.

Fighting swarms of people are impossible but while bodies fall like flies a body count is given for each enemy that falls underneath your blade.

Small details provide the most greatest advantages. Costumes and names of the characters are those which could have existed in that time. But Rembering and ally and enemy with chinese names can be easily confusing.

In conclusion the graphics are compared to no other, fighting styles are somewhat repetitive after 200 kills and single player situations can make this game flat, though it provide the greatest strategy and leadership to pass the levels it's no easy task to lead a dynasty.

Good game. Lots of fun

This game was really wild. It definetly shows off what the PS2 can do. Having about 40-50 characters on the screen at one slaughtering each other is pretty amazing. Although the only drawback I found from this was I never made it out of the first battle, and I was playing for like a half hour. I don't know how long the battles are supposed to last, but boy was my thumb tired. I had racked up almost 500 "KO's" before I finally got beat by one of the bosses on the computer side (and about 30 of his soldiers, where were my troops when I needed them?). I'd recommend this game, but beware it's not really a strategy game. You run around and kill as many guys as you can, if you get low on life then you pick up what appears to be an onion and you'll gain health back. You can also pick up upgrades for your armor and weapons (some last 30 seconds, some for the whole battle). All in all a lot of hack and slash fun!

You walk around, plowing through enemies with your weapon of choice while a hundred other on screen characters run around like chickens without heads or just stand there like zombies. The landscapes are boring and the infamous 'fog' that won't let you view past a certain point is thick. Hack, cut, heeyah, repeat. Hack cut, heeyah, repeat. Fun? No, boring.

GOOD GAME WITH A MEMORY CARD

good game cool moves but the only bad thing is you have to have a memory card tp play this game because it takes way to long to beat without a memory card

First Person Robotron

I love this game. My only complaint is in the limited number of fighting moves. If you love to slaughter multiple opponents at one time, then this is for you. Robotron always filled that niche for me, then SmashTV, but this is from an over the shoulder perspective and the graphics are great.

Of the four launch titles I bought (SSX, Midnight Club Racer, Silent Scope and Dynasty Warrirors 2), this is my favorite and the one I consider to be the one that pushes the PS2's features the most.
