The Best Baseball Game Out There... Period.

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 6 / 11

Baseball games need to be a few things.

For one, they need to be realistic. They need to be realistic looking (this one looks beautiful), but more importantly, the gameplay needs to be realistic. ASB 2002 is like watching a real game on television. Play it long enough, and you'll lose yourself in the actual "game", the teams, stats, details and artificial intelligence are BEAUTIFUL! Another thing a good baseball game needs is controls that make sense, and ASB 2002 is a winner in the control department as well. I had the controller figured out in under an hour, and from there on, I was hooked. The detail level is breathtaking, from names on jerseys to team mascots dancing on the sidelines.

On the downside, there have been a couple times when I felt like the controls didn't totally respond to what I was shooting for, but I should also say, that happens in every sports game I've ever played.

All in all THIS GAME IS A HOME RUN. Its got occasional quirks, but they're nothing compared to the overall fun, competition and repeat playability. ASB 2002 rules. (And if you're thinking about getting EA Sports Baseball, don't. I played that for about three hours and was bored -- ASB 2002 is money well spent!)

The best out of 3

The game play has a few problems but stadiam and players look real. The create a player mode is great unlike HHBB2002 which has none. The options in season play are great and you can have a stort season or a long season. It really lacks in the camera views and gameplay. When the ball warps into a players hand when the ball is two feet away is unreal. A speed button is needed to help for baserunning and fielding in the outfield. The thowback uniforms are pretty cool you can go back to being the old brooklyn dodgers. The best out of 3. But always rent before you buy!!!!

Best baseball game since MLB 98!

Out of the 3 baseball titles on PS2 this is the best. It is far superior to Triple Play, and more fun than highheat. The graphics are incredible and the season mode is great. Extras include create a player and ome run derby. Get this game for you PS2.

I'll admit it, am a big fan of the Triple Play Baseball games and just loved all of them. That is until Triple Play Baseball turned up.

At first i liked it a lot but still thpught graphics should be a bit better for a ps2 game. When I got better a the game and started playing on harder levels is when the damage was done. I mean finishing a season with 125 wins and having Jeter and Justice both with more than 70 homers isn't what i expected. So i returned the game(Lucky I didn't lose the receipt) and decided next time to rent a game before buying.

I rented All Star Baseball 2002 and loved it. It had awesome graphics and was really realistic. It has a few minor glitches but the graphics and reality make up for it. All I can say is rent it first(Im sure ull love it) and if u like it then......BUY IT!

All Star Baseball 2002 is the best game ever. You will not belive the game. It looks like your at a real baseball game. They have all the new players but not Ichro. Also, the statdium as such good detial that the fans are moving and in the ballpark that have waterfalls you see them good. Also, at Arizona Feild if you land a homer in the pool you see it in it. In this game the yankees have Mike M and Alfonso Sorino. You get evry palyer. I would say if you love sports (baseball the most) this is the right game for you.

I usually don't write online reviews, but after reading the other user reviews I've gotta speak up. First off, this game has received rave reviews by every magazine that has reviewed it. IGN.com gave it an Editor's Choice award the day after it was released!

This game is BEAUTIFULLY DONE. I've played many (many!) baseball games on PS1, N64, and I've also played Triple Play on PS2. This game is *** BY FAR THE BEST BASEBALL GAME ON THE MARKET ***

Pick a category, fluid graphics, sound, gameplay, realism, replay value -- this game is far and away the leader of the pack.

By comparison, the other contender on the PS2 (EA sports 'Triple Play' baseball) is completely unrealistic, has awkward controls, scoring problems, and in the end plays like a arcade game. I have two friends who bought Triple Play and traded it in for credits toward ASB 2002.

Take my advice. RUN TO THE STORE and BUY THIS GAME NOW!!! If you're a serious baseball fan, or a novice to sports games -- this is one title you will absolutely lose yourself in! A Great Great Game.

I was looking for a baseball game for my PS2, and I had seen that Triple Play Baseball was out from EA. I own Madden NFL 2001 (great football game) and NBA Live 2001 from EA, so I had planned on getting Triple Play. I happened to read a few reviews of T.P.B. though, and while I haven't played the game myself, I hear that it is very arcade-ish, with stuff like cannon shots going off when you hit the ball, etc. SO, I bought this game because I heard it was supposed to be great. Boy is it ever! This is more of a sim than T.P.B. so if you're looking for wacky baseball, that would probably be a good bet, but if you're looking for a realistic game, then read on. The game is fairly easy to pick up, and alot of fun. I especially like the 3D batting icon which allows you to control your hitting, so you can try to hit into the gaps, etc. I went to create a season, and there are several schedules you can choose from, like 162 game balanced, 162-game with no interleague play, 87-game seasons, etc. The graphics are similar to those of the EA sports titles mentioned above (which are great as far as I'm concerned) - and the fluidity of the fielding motions is pretty darn good. I was surprised to see the second baseman actually dive over my runner and fling the ball over to first to turn the double play.

My only problem with the game is that the menu system needs a little work. For example, if you enter the help screen, and then go back, the previous screen's settings are back to the default, instead of what you chose before hitting the help button. But these little details don't take away from the game play. So don't let them discourage you!

Overall, I give it a 5 star rating because while I'm sure there will be a better baseball title out there some day, maybe even soon, I haven't seen, heard of, or played a better one in my day

Triple Play VS. All-Star Baseball......All-Star MUCH BETTER!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 10 / 12

All-Star Baseball flat out is much better than Triple Play for the PS2. I bought both of the games and All-Star Baseball is much more realistic. The games are so close to being as real as the pros, while Triple Play, the games are not very exciting and there is not really any competition. All-Star baseball has better graphics and the pitching is awesome. You can actually strike out people in All-Star baseball while in Triple Play it's almost impossible to do. If you are like me you like to monitor stats. The stat category for All-Star Baseball is much better too. When you need to warm up a pitcher you actually have to warm them up in the bull-pen before putting them into the game unlike Triple Play Baseball. With Triple Play Baseball I played three games and was bored. All Star Baseball kept me involved because it is just like the pro's. The first game that I bought was Triple Play Baseball because I thought EA Sports reputation would rule again. But I kept hearing about All Star Baseball and how great it was so I decided to give it a try. All Star Baseball is hands down the winner of the baseball competition for this year's baseball releases for the PS2! Trust me..you won't be disappointed with All-Star Baseball.
