... ASB2002 only allows you to control one team for a season, which does suck, All other games are simulated. It's deceiving in the instructions, it tells you that you can control as many teams as you like, but that's incorrect. Hitting and pitching does take you a while to get the hang of but if you watch the baseball released out of the pitchers hand and get the little white dot lined up with your 3D triangle it pretty cool. Just like real baseball. You can even challenge the pitcher to guess what type of pitch he will throw and location. if you guess it correctly then your cursor increases in size if you don't your cursor shrinks or you can leave it alone and it will stay the predetermined size the computer has chosen for that player according to his real life attributes. Sosa nad McGwire cursors are larger compare to lets say Deivi Cruz. Your eye has to get trained to the speed of the game even on "rookie" , the speed is pretty intense, the hitting cursor bascially gets smaller in other levels and the speed picks up alittle but even rookie level the game is challenging. When you do connect the camera shifts to the best camera angle in any video game and you literally watch the ball sail out of the park from like field level. Enron field you can hear the "train" after Homeruns and in Shea you hear the planes flying overhead. The players actually have the same mannerisms from batting stances to pitching stances to fielding stances, they didn't miss a beat with that like Sosa's "blue" fielding mitt, Bonds "snatching the ball out of the air on easy fly balls, very realsitic. Game scores are also realistic like 5-4 not 20-16 like in Triple Play. The pitchers do "tire" quickly you have to use your type of pitch effectively in order to not tire him out too fast too many fastball and he'll be done in 3 innings. Also you hardly get a complete game out of a pitcher unless you are like Randy Johnson or Pedro Martinez they are programmed to be the workhorse like in real life. Overall this game isn't everything but for all the other games that are out there for 128 bit technolgy this one gets my vote as the best to date...END

dissapointment

This game is a huge dissapointment. what gives with no camera angles, no injuries, of course no franchise, and an opposing outfielder runs at unhuman speeds to snag sure doubles or triples. of course you can hit home runs. i just finished a game as the Cubbies and won 8-1 behind 8 homers. i struck out 17 with ruben Quevedo!!!! how realistic is that. this game is not worth buying and it looks as though i will be firing up High Heat 2001 again this year on the old computer. at least there you can have more than a 25 man roster. what a waste of the sony2 power again. i always have madden.

Unfairness at it's Best

Now first off, I bought this game used, and after playing it I can see why. I can not defeat the computer. Anything you do is just countered. You score two runs in the first, the other team scores two runs in the first. Hit a home in the top of the 9th, the other team hits a home run to beat you. It is driving me nuts. Granted that the graphics are impressive, and the gameplay is mediocre. The gameplay aspect doesn't bother me. I would just like to sit down and have fun, and it is impossible to. So, instead of frustrating yourself beyond the point of return, choose another baseball game to play, this game takes itself too seriously.

ALL-STAR BASEBALL FOR NINTENDO 64 IS ABOUT 100 TIMES BETTER THAN THE ONE FOR PS2. IT WAS A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.

Smell the peanuts and hear the crowd, this is baseball !!!!

All star Baseball 2002 is the ultimate baseball game for any console on market. Beautiful graphics and gameplay, while the sounds make you think your in the front row of the ballpark. Gameplay is really easy after you get a hang of it, and the game feels like real baseball, not any arcade stuff were you score 55-0. A must have for the true baseball fan!!!!

Not Worth The Hype !!!

After reading all the hype, I was pretty excited to get this title in my hands one week (?) before the "official release date". Well, I should have done what I planned to do all along and wait for High Heat 2002. All-Star Baseball 2002 is not that good. The baserunning, and overall gameplay, is slow and the fielding/throwing design is just plain bad. The Batting Practice option is only o.k. - pitch quality and speed are not customizable (as they are in High Heat 2001 for the PC), so it really serves little purpose when you face the "game" pitching, which is pretty good. While the graphics are great (although seemingly dark), there is little substance to back up this release. I think Tony LaRussa Baseball 2 was a better gaming model to be honest, and that was made in the late 80's !! The throwback jerseys are nice, but again, without solid gameplay to back this up, it is just fluff. My opinion is that you should save your money and wait for High Heat 2002. If it is anythiing like High Heat 2001 for the PC, it will be money very well spent.

Ok, first of all, can someone who has the game tell myself and everyone else out there if this game has create a team and franchise mode? Is it better than High Heat and tp?
