I STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL METAL GEAR AND SNAKES REVENGE FROM THE NESS, AND I WAS ONE WHO WAITED SO LONG FOR ANOTHER TASTE AND WHEN IT FINALLY CAME, I WAS TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY.I HAVE EVERY VERSION TILL THEN AND SOLID IS STILL MY FAVORITE!!!!MY 8 YEAR OLD SON HAS BEAT ALL MY GAMES AND THIS HOLLOWEEN HES GOING TO BE SNAKE. LIKE FATHER,LIKE SON,HE KNOWS A GREAT GAME WHEN HE PLAYS IT.

The Best Game fo the PS1 by Far!!

Although this game doesn't have the BEST graphics, the story, sound, and gameplay more than makes up for that minute detail. Solid Snake is definitely one of the most, if not the most, coolest video game characters of all time. When I first started this game, I was really nervous, thinking all of this sneaking around in the middle of a heavily armed base would be impossible for me to do without getting caught every 2 minutes. But, I turned out to be better at stealth than I thought (I guess I have my game "Tenchu: Stealth Assassins" to thank for that). This game was not only full of action, but the story was the best one I've ever come across in a video game: it was unsurpassable until the sequel came out! The enemies were really cool too, especially the Cyborg Ninja, Vulcan Raven, and the totally badass Liquid Snake.

All I have left to say is, get this game. If you have only part 2 and enjoy its plot-twists, action, and gameplay, then "Metal Gear Solid" is a game you MUST have.

If you haven't expieranced the joy that is Metal Gear Solid you owe it to yourself to buy it now. This was the most anticipated game ever released to date on the playstation and Hideo Kojima's masterpiece lived up to every bit of hype. When we(me and my brothers) first got our playstation this game was on our demo disk. We tried it and WOW! And I thought the demo was sweet! That was the first game we got(a few days later). Its loaded with a lot of action thrills! My brother beat it in a few days, but wait! Stealth, bandana,tuxedo. Its not over! If you are a ps gamer who likes action games but it now!

Best game ever? Most likely.

What can I say that hasn't been said a thousand times about this game. It is most likely the best game ever for the Playstation. it is a great action game with logical controls, and the story is interesting enough that you don't just want to skip all the movie scenes. The replayability is minimal, unless you are one of those that like to replay the game at the higher levels. A few of the scenes might not be for younger players either, but it's not like they will dement anyone. It's only a video game, right?

If you have a Playstation, and you don't have this game, it's a definate must. You won't find a better game for the price anywhere.

Simply put, this is the best playstation game ever made. It has a cinematic feel, outstanding villains, and a classic style of game play. You start out with a training mode (which is fun in itself) which teaches you the basics of the game. The rest is pure gaming bliss. If you like action movies, cyborg ninjas, sneaking around, blowing stuff up, and games with a great story, then you owe it to yourself to play this game......TWICE!

Metal Gear Solid is Solid

I first heard about this game in December of 1998, when Pizza Hut was giving out Playstation Demo Discs. After I got as far as the disc would allow, I immediately went out and bought this game. And I'm glad I did. This game is solid, from the grahics, to the characters, to the story. After you beat this game, you'll probably want to play it again. I can not say the same for Metal Gear Solid 2. Metal Gear Solid 2 has this game beat on graphics, but that's the only catagory Metal Gear Solid 2 beats the original Metal Gear Solid on. Am I right?

Metal Gear Solid is, sithout a doubt, one of the greatest games ever made. Hears a little Highs n' Lows
Highs:

The graphics(Great for '99)
A nice arsonel of weapons
Nicely planned story
Enimies r challenging(In Extreeme)
The end fight with liquid snake
The return of grey fox
The Bandana and the stealth
Nice ending for a ruthless killer
The VR missions at the begining
The shootout on the 1st control tower
The experince is very high
the sound is exellent
It brung more action than Sons of Liberty
Hideo's best game so far
Cons:

When u set off da alarm, ur basicly dead
The turture sceene is to hard(On Extreeme)
The ninja fight is annoying(On Extreeme)
The replay value isn't all that great
If u go fast enuff, u can finish it in 2 hours
Ocelot is way 2 easy
cAN'T FIRE IN INTRUSION MODE

This classic should be oned buy anyone who had a PSX. This game is definitly 1 uv my favorites

THis game invented stealth to the gaming industry. Plus, it porved that you could be a badass in a video game. Unfortuantly, no one who has played MGS2 is gonna go play MGS1. And that's a shame, because MGS1 almost beats the 2nd one. Better gameplay? Yes, there's a lot more action, stealth is more important, and there's more gameplay than movie. The story's pretty normal until the end. It seems like a regular terroist movie turned into a game. However, there are some bad things compared to the 2nd one. Bad graphics, can't shoot in First person mode, and you don't have a tranquilizer. Oh well, this is Playstation 1. They improved on MGS2, but only a little.
