This game, while hard to find, is worth every penny. The storyline, graphics, and tactics make for hours of amusement and the music is some of the best I have heard in any video game. Definately a thumbs up!

The best Final Fnatsy title I have played so far. I have played a lot of Final Fantsy titles in my lifetime, and this is the best one yet. I've played 1,2,5,6,10,and 12, and out of them all, this one wins. With its superb storyline, great character personalities, and really cool battle system, this is a must buy. Some reviews say there is a lot of cons to this game, but in my opinion there aren't any. When I first played this game, I had borrowed it from a friend, but now that i found a copy, I bought it first thing. So definatly buy this game, you won't regret it.

Well you are probably not gonna believe me but...Ever since this game came out it was around $35.00 and ever since after its release it was reduced to 20.00.And it has been like that ever since,even today it is 20.00 new.Not because its a crappy game.No its because it is an excellent game.An excellent price for an excellent game.No i'm not gonna spoil it for you cause i want you to buy it.I have owned this game since 2000,and its not cause i'm a huge fan of the final fantasy series,its that this game is simply one of the best,including final fantasy 7.FF9 includes great music,great graphics for the playstation 1 and an overall excellent storyline that gives you the chills every time.I love this game.I'm 18 and i still play it today,take my word for it you will not be disappointed.If you want more info on this game just tell me and ill gladly reply.This is what rpg is all about =)

I have played Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, Tactics, and Tactics Advanced, and I do think this has the best story line out of all of them, and i think that's what makes a good game.

This game was actually my introduction to the final fantasy series and it's absolutely amazing. For the time the game was made, the graphics were phenomenal. The sound is great, the music is interesting and keeps you engaged, and the gameplay is a lot of fun. If you haven't played this game yet, I highly recommend you play it through at least once, but there's no sense in me continuing to sing it's praises when everyone else already has (it's over eight years old)

(...) I am quite sorry for all of the people that liked it but still, i hated it. Square is losing it. I was expecting this game to be the best.It was the worst. I was expecting the movie to be one of the best movies ever. Nope. All of the Final Fantasy before are still better. I still play 3,4, and 7. They are truly great games. Also, even though this has nothing to do with final fantasy, Chrono Cross,........ i have no words for it. They killed the old ways. you cant mix old style stuff with new graphics. its just not right. Enough said.

This game has wonderful graphics and movie scenes. I think the character's are too childish looking, the character's were more interesting in Final Fantasy 7 and 8. I want my hero's to be humans, not some mutant fantasy. The music is really great. But the fight scenes look like an old game in the early nineties or late eighties. I was disappointed in this Final Fantasy series. Sony needs to go back and take a look at what sold Final Fantasy. This might be a good game for kids 8-13 years old, but it will not attract older audiences.

A great game, but Final Fantasy VIII is better.

When I heard about this game was going to come out, I was so excited. Then I got it home in popped in the disc... the game was Great! The few things bad about it was the story wasnt as good as FFVIII, the characters wernt as good as FFVIII (except Vivi), and there was no junction system. But don't think the game ..., I love this game! But if you don't own FFVIII or FFIX, buy FFVIII. But FFIX is still awsome! Heres my raitings (out of 1.0 to 10.0)

This game must be compared to its predecessors, VII and VIII, and it doesn't. As a 30 yr old avid gamer, I realized that FF9 was obviously made for the 12 year old crowd. Never have I anticipated a video game more than FF9. I GAVE this game to some younger folks. Beware older gamers, this is a silly, tiring, annoying complicated Romper Room. FF8 is THE game in the series. To sum it up, I was never in fear of any enemy because I didn't care. Remember "Shining Force" for Genesis? That game blows this Saturday morning cartoon away.
