It gets 1/2 star for great graphics, 1/2 star for the music. That's it. I hated the whiny character I play. I've killed myself many times just to watch him die. It was more of a movie than a video game. If I wanted to watch a movie, I would have rented one! Other people have already written what I'm saying. The only reason I'm piping in is to lower the star-rating average. The game is nowhere near a four-star rating. I would hate to see someone else make the same mistake I did.

METAL GEAR SOLID 2 HAS BEEN ADVERITISED AS A GAME FOR PEOPLE WITH TOO MUCH TIME ON THEIR HANDS. THIS GAME ALMOST EXACTLY THE SAME AS METAL GEAR SOLID. THE BIG DIFFERENCE IS THAT YOU CAN WATCH BOTTLES BREAK AND LOOK AT THE ICE MELT. IF YOU WANT TO, YOU LOOK AT ALL THE LITTLE PIECES OF GLASS THAT SHATTER WHEN YOU SHOOT AT WINDOWS. YOU CAN ENDLESSLY DRAG PEOPLE... THERE SEEMS TO BE A WHOLE LOT OF DRAGGING PEOPLE. YOU CAN DRAG THIS GUY AND THAT GUY. IT BAFFLES ME WHY THEY DIDN'T JUST CALL THIS GAME METAL GEAR (DRAG 50 SOME ODD PEOPLE) SOLID 2.
THE BEST THING THAT I CAN SAY ABOUT THIS GAME IS THE WORST THING ABOUT THE GAME. IT IS JUST LIKE THE FIRST ONE. THIS IF FINE IF YOU WEREN'T EXPECTING THE GAME TO BE A REVOLUTION IN GAME PLAY. ALL THE HYPE BEHIND IT WAS ALL FOR NOTHING. THERE IS NO REASON TO THINK THAT THIS GAME HAS ANYTHING SPECIAL ABOUT EXCEPT THE GRAPHICS. IT IS THE SAME GAME WITH A COUPLE OF PIPES THAT BLOW STEAM. JUST LIKE ALL THE ADDS ABOUT IT.
MGS2 is a totally overhyped game!

Why? This game is just a sequel, it is nothing really new. All what you could do in the prequel you will be able to do in MGS2. It`s all about sneaking around, killing stupid enemies, fighting some bosses and finally destroying a radiculous tank. That`s so boring. The game is very violent and that is why kids, the only people who will enjoy MGS2, shouldn't be allowed playing this game. I give one star for this no-brainer, because of its title that make me laugh every time I read or hear it.

No other words can describe Metal Gear Solid 2. Superb graphics and realistic gameplay make it one of the best games to grace a playstation console. Konami releases another smash hit sure to become an instant classic. Don't wait to buy this game.

After playing MGS for the psx I was hooked and at the end there were so many questions unawsered? I purchased my copy of the MGS2 demo with Zone of the enders and I Have to say It IS INCREDIBLE!! Kojima really shows his talent in this game,he made every single detail fasinating such as the rain drops and the beautiful opening scene,Plus snake cane do more actions such as first person shooting mode, throwing enemies of the ship, climing objects and etc. The boss fight With olga was amazing the AI in the game is supurb she almost pridicted my every move, overall thi game deserves ten stars instead of 5.If i were you i would buy this game as soon as it comes out Cause it will be very HARD to find during the holidays.put your reseravations down now you will be glad you did.
PS.- I wouldnt reccomend buying this game if you havent played MGS for the original Playstation becouse you will have a hard time to figure out the story line.
Thanx.

For the love of god, don't buy this game, rent it. There are more movie scences to deal with than most blockbuster movies, that you can't skip. The game play is as good as the original, but for about 4 hours of play at a time i played actually 20 minutes. Rent this game, i bought it and now it collects dust. Go buy Grand Theft Auto Vice City before this game.
What's Hideo Kojima hiding?

When I first got this game, I was amazed by its outstanding graphics and how Solid Snake looked realistic, with his bandana, mullet, and his face not being a blur like it was in the 1st Metal Gear Solid. The tanker portion is really fun, and will give you lots of entertainment. When your done beating the tanker, you'll find out that you won't be able to play snake anymore. You'll play a whiny, bleach blond kid named Raiden throughout the game. The part of the game when you start to play Raiden just plain old sucks. The only fun part is when you fight the last boss. (Solidus) The thing that really bugs me about this game is that Hideo Kojima just completely hid the fact that Raiden was in the game. If you look at the back of the Sons of Liberty case, you'll see that Raiden isn't in any of the pictures. There is even a picture of a ninja being in the tanker. When you play the game you'll find out that the ninja was never in the tanker. What's up with that? I seriously think you should buy the first MGS and rent the 2nd. The pros and cons are:
PROS:
-Outstanding graphics
-Amazing moves such as pop-out shoots, aiming, diving somersaults, ect.
CONS:
-Can't play Snake throughout the whole game
-Raiden gets more onscreen time than Snake
-Game length is short
-Way to many movie scenes
-There is only 5 bosses to fight
-Never get to fight one of the main terrorist (Ocelot)
I gave this game 3 stars because of the amazing graphics and the entertainment I had playing the tanker.
not too good

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is the sequel to the innovative original MGS game that appeared on the Playstation One. Even though the game is quite fun, I probably prefer the original. Here's why:
- First of all, the amount of cutscenes in this game are *incredibly* high. I'd say you have TWICE as many cutscenes to deal with in this game compared to the original. True, these cutscenes might end up telling a good story (if you actually have the patience to watch them all) but it doesn't really excite me on a personal "overall video game experience" level. Years from now the only thing I will remember about Sons of Liberty will be all the cutscenes I had to sit through, or skip (if I chose to do so). To make matters worse, many times I'm interrupted with spoken conversations during critical moments where I REALLY can't afford to be interrupted, such as during a moment when I'm trying to find the best way to eliminate a guard blocking an important path. I can't be distracted during these moments, and that's a shame. This was never a problem in the original.
- Sons of Liberty is just about the same length as the previous MGS game (if you choose to skip all the cutscenes, that is). I'm serious. A sequel is ALWAYS supposed to be a longer and more interesting game. However, this is not the case with the Metal Gear Solid series. I can beat this game in 2 hours and 30 minutes. I can beat the original in 2 hours and 20 minutes. So it's only about 10 minutes longer overall. I'm not happy about that at all.
- The very reason the original Metal Gear Solid is a much better game overall is because of this- the boss fights. In Sons of Liberty you only have 5 or 6 boss fights total, and none of them are very creative or interesting. What's up with that? One fight has you shooting between crates trying to locate and eliminate the enemy. It's fun, but not THAT great. Certainly not sequel-worthy, in my opinion.
Another boss fight has you running from the first to second level shooting stingers at the enemy. This is sort of fun. Another boss fight has Snake diffusing bombs. I don't particulary care for this one because for the majority of the first half of the game it seems like you're going around making sure bombs don't go off in certain places. I don't want to continue doing the same thing during a boss fight. It also seems like there's an exceptionally long period between the first and second boss fight.
In the original you had up to 11 or 12 boss fights, and they were more creative than the ones here, too. You had a helicopter battle, a sniper fight where you had to guide missiles through a winter forest to find the sniper, a battle with a large army tank, a fight with a ninja, a really fun fight with a HUGE mechanical robot where you were required to take down the big thing with stinger missiles, and more. The boss fights in Sons of Liberty come up short and feel uninspired compared to the original Metal Gear Solid.
However, the one thing this game does better is that the guards you encounter are MUCH smarter this time around. You can't just walk by them- they will easily see and kill you if you dare to attempt that. This game encourages you to find the correct way to deal with each of the guards that happen to be in your way. Sometimes you have to stun them, and drag them out of the way because other guards might walk by and spot their dead bodies, and then suddenly a search for you will go out, which would then require you to find a way to get out of there and FAST. Smarter enemies in this game are certainly a nice welcome, and probably the only thing about the game worth mentioning.
Some people say that walking around in first-person view makes this game better than the original Metal Gear Solid, but I don't buy that because it seems like EVERY game nowadays has a first-person view. The original was unique.
Stick with the first Metal Gear Solid game if you are given a choice between the two. It's more exciting, and thankfully doesn't feature an overkill of cutscenes in all the wrong places. That's where Sons of Liberty fails, unfortunately. Too many unnecessary interruptions. Still, it's a pretty good game. Just not the "major improvement" we were led to believe.

This game is so not worth buying.I highly suggest u rent it b4 buying.I have metal gear solid and it is one of my favorite games and i couldnt wait for the new one.I pre-ordered it and rented it the day it came out cause i didnt wanna wait for it to be delivered.Im curently looking at how i can return it.The graphics are great and the first part of the game is good. After awhile it gets unbelievably boring. There are more stories then game play. The stories do NOT end. They go on forever and half the time its the same stuff over and over or its info that has nothing to do with anything.I was just playing the game and a story went on for like an hour i kid u not.It was beyond wierd and so boring i almost fell asleep 3 times. So to rap it up when u actually get to play the game its fun but i was really disappointed with the story and just how weird and boring it is.Its such a different game then the last one.So if your interested in the game rent it b4 u waste your money.
